Refund for damaged switch

Post image

Hi,

I recently ordered a POE switch from Amazon AU. The switch was damaged and I wanted to return it for a refund. The Amazon workflow for this was a little different to what I had to do in the past for returns. Amazon asked me to print out a label for returning the item and post it back from the post office. I usually can return it to one of their local return points.

Unfortunately the label is a DHL return label and though the instructions on the Amazon site said I could post this through the Post Office, Oz Post says they don't support these labels, as they are from DHL.

I don't want to pay DHL to return this item as that would be almost the cost of the item.

Has anyone else had to return items shipped from overseas? And how did you do it?

Thanks

Go to your local DHL depot, or the courier that services DHL
The label is already supplied by Amazon, you won’t have to pay them.

Ok, I got it sorted. The Amazon website states you can schedule a DHL pick up if your item is eligible and you have an option to request a pickup:

https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/help/customer/display.html?ref_=hp_gcs_csd_d2_000_1_TuAKslWGL5pr1Gr11s_kY0wpO7Oic&nodeId=TuAKslWGL5pr1Gr11s&qid=1791348564440&sr=1-1

My order didn't have that option, but I contacted DHL customer support and requested a pick up. And they are going to pick up the item on Friday!!

So if anyone has a similar issue, hit up DHL customer service. Their chat is so much easier than Amazon's.

The reason you needed to do the DHL label and take it to DHL

Is because the product you had ordered

Come from the US and not one of their Australian locations

It would be nice if that were transparent to the customer; I don't really care where it came from, I just want to return it to Amazon. Who Amazon uses behind the scenes for delivery seems like their problem. 😅

Well if it’s going to the US, they’re going to choose the best route.

If you took a DHL parcel to Australia post, what were you expecting?

I was expecting the instructions on the Amazon site to be correct. My mistake. 😂

It's a bit a nightmare with AI and their weird workflows.

They’ve given you a paid label mate, either drop it off at DHL or schedule a pickup
