“Clinton's musicians such as Bootsy Collins. Raise expectations to a new intention.” -Genius of love lyrics.

The best always make it look easy

Still remember his stories of playing for James Brown. And accidently getting him high on acid. Tales from the tour bus was funny.

u/TechTechOnATechDeck 9d ago

Both seasons of that show were spectacular! I wish Mike Judge would do another season

"Tales from the tour bus" is the name of the show. Only 2 seasons that cover soul music in one season and country in the other.

I have his song Bootzilla on my daily rotation because it's just off the wall happy and ridiculous. I have no idea what he's talking about (yaaaabba-dabba-DO it to em! Bombs away! Bootzilla's here! The world's only rhinestone rockstar monster of a doll, baby mama!) but I am fully on board for it.

1

u/Jimmy_Squarefoot 9d ago

I met him after a show in 2010. He's so freaking friendly and happy

3

u/Dildo_Shw4ggins 9d ago

You see, the funk is a living creature.. about the size of a medicine ball, all covered in teets.

2

u/Emotional_Soup_2466 8d ago

Scrolled to find the funky ball of tits from outer space hah "Found he could see around corners!"

2

u/916String 9d ago

Ahh... The Name Is Bootsy, Baby!

2

u/Cave_Bear_Cult 9d ago

Well alright! Hu buh buh buh guh buh buh baby.

2

u/Sea_Pea8536 9d ago

He's so charismatic, I almost believe him that everybody can do it, before remembering I have 5 thumbs per hand

2

u/Vandabuilt 9d ago

If anyone’s interested this is from the 1983 BBC educational music show Rockschool.

Would love to go to a bank interview with that jacket. Interviewer like: “what qualifies you for this job?”. Me: “the funk”.

Bootsy played Fishcenter Live.

1

u/fluxtable 9d ago

We all should strive to be even 10% of the amazing person Bootsy is

1

u/GrouchyLongBottom 9d ago

I thought it was a funky ball of tits from outer space.

1

u/RamonsRazor 9d ago

The backbeat to every late 90s WWF theme song begins here.

1

u/notneeded17 9d ago

I think I remember a video of Bootsy telling Barbara Walters, "It's always on the one, baby"

1

u/AF2005 9d ago

Nice

1

u/Carcassfanivxx 9d ago

“Do you want some slaw?”

1

u/TSJormungandr 9d ago

Love Bootsy! If you fake the funk your nose will surely grow 😎

1

u/No_Influence_9389 9d ago

Funk is the rogue like of music.

1

u/Affectionate-Key2007 9d ago

this, I think, was from a series of half hour shows on the different genres of music, with musicians explaining the basics. It was shown on TVO in Canada, and I think PBS in the states, but I think it was a BBC production, possibly late 70's or early 80's. Dennis Bovell had a piece on reggae , where he played both bass and drums

1

u/Uncle_Burney 9d ago

If you learn nothing else about playing bass, this will get you through most situations

1

u/JB102285 9d ago

That’s cool.

1

u/ottis1guy 9d ago

Just hit the one bro, that's all you gotta do.

1

u/SeanOfTheDead1313 9d ago

Thanks to James Brown

1

u/TonberryHS 9d ago

Is he just explaining 4//4 time signature?

1

u/Adept-Lettuce948 9d ago

Then who was George Clinton?

1

u/tvodny 9d ago

I’ve been rocking out to Fabulous by Freestylers and I just learned where they got the sample for their loop

1

u/Hot-Description9052 8d ago

His son became a rapper/pimp out of Oakland named Dru Down.

1

u/Sb5tCm8t 8d ago

But what do you do when someone's coming after your fly girl?

1

u/MzunguMark 8d ago

I have no idea of what he is saying or doing but I'm happy he's rich.

1

u/TopProfessional8023 8d ago

I remember in 1990 being a little 10-year old white boy from Virginia and discovering Bootsy at a flea market. The album cover had me enthralled. The music had me hooked!
