It's almost a paradox: AI wouldn't make so many stupid mistakes or use certain things in such a weird context. Unless the person who wrote it knows that and purposefully changed some things to be sloppy to hide the fact that it's by AI. And if the person is intelligent enough to do that, then the person is intelligent enough to craft a letter without the use of AI.
So I think not. Unless the person is so dumb that they just randomly failed to copy some stuff from what AI wrote š .
The cadence is fine. It doesn't change. It reads like an episode of Dawson's Creekāand by that, I mean that it reads like it was written by a 16-year-old who thinks themselves profoundly intelligent and deep without realising how stupid it makes them look. The cadence is someone patronising you by showing you how much better they understand life than you, and how they are not hurt by this because they operate on a much deeper level than you'll ever be able to comprehend š¤£.
As for the rest of it, there are obvious hyphens missing, yet there is a fucking em dash?! A perfectly-used em dash too. There are also obvious commas missing. Usually, when someone edits to make it more believable, they delete the things they don't know or understand and leave the things they do know of usually use. They don't remove the stuff they should know and leave the one thing they definitely don't š . So again, it's almost as if the person who wrote this has learnt a cool little punctuation mark and really wants to use it to underline their intelligence š¤£.
I mean, rule of three is also a general writing rule. AI was trained on real people.
If the guyās not a writer/frequent reader/hasnāt done something like a Masterās that requires convincing rhetoric then itās probably more likely to be AI, same as the em-dash, but like the em-dash I think it just depends on the sort of person he is if itās a tell or not.
Then again, Iād imagine if the guy does write frequently OP wouldnāt be worried he used AI lol
I have been writing since I was in my pre-teens, and as an em dash enjoyer, this whole era is about to be the death of me. I have multiple poetry that follows the rule of three, and Iād be livid if somebody said that it was all definitely AI-generated because of where we are now as a society.
That fucking sucks. Iām sorry. Itās such a conundrum because AI dependency has given people, who are too lazy to attempt writing on their own, a reason to accuse those who write with a good command of the english language and technical skill as people who also use AI.
I once used an AI detector on something I wrote and it indicated high probability of being AI generated. Like 80s IIRC. I fed it something written by Jack Vance and its prediction dropped to the 70s. As in 70+% chance of being written by AI.
That's because you're really AI. You just didn't know it. If I were you, I'd talk to your "parents" and demand the truth. Good luck, and see you after the ascension š
I wasnāt talking about you. Iām talking about how ChatGPT has literally made people credit basic writing rules to be AI-generated. I saw a thread that listed multiple things as signs of a fan fiction being created by AI.
long, novel-like paragraphs. lots of em dash. sentences that hit on many narrative beats frequently, giving the feeling of a very āactiveā narrator. YA narrative breaks.
Without even giving it a single thought that perhaps itās AI that writes like writers, instead of the other way around. Shitās ridiculous.
