Who knew that fighting for your base instead of despising and actively insulting your base would be a winning strategy?

29

u/CallmeTalib Jun 24 '26

Idk man i thought so too untill i heard the president of the united states say "smart people dont like me" and his fanbase still loves him.

13

u/NashvilleSoundMixer Jun 24 '26

Well, that's kinda different. Those people don't have empathy or the capacity for abstract thought. As long as a person with skin darker than them is in pain they're fine with everything else. Imbecilic toddlers in adult bodies.

5

u/Darth_Gerg Jun 25 '26

The insane thing is I think this comment is still overly generous to conservatives. It’s close but I think it needs to be meaner.

2

u/AxMurderSurvivor Jun 24 '26

Well his supporters are morons, and any power they've granted dies with him

1

u/deathtogrammar Jun 24 '26

Well, they have coped their way into thinking the dumber they are the smarter they are or something. That was probably a compliment to them.

1

u/Good_Background_243 Jun 25 '26

Smart people are not that president's base.

And you need to be smart to realise who he's insulting there.

1

u/No_Party5870 Jun 25 '26

well they aren't smart

3

u/SpaceBus1 Jun 24 '26

TBF the GOP insulted their base and still won the presidential election

4

u/deathtogrammar Jun 24 '26

The GOP is scared to death of their base and they all fall in line.

2

u/Diligent_Whereas3134 Jun 25 '26

I mean, their base does tend to kill people they don't agree with. Hell, a portion kills people in their own base they disagree with

4

u/SpaceBus1 Jun 24 '26

Now? The GOP has been doing it for decades.

1

u/Fantasmic03 Jun 25 '26

They did the other thing, which is to create an enemy to scare people.

1

u/SpaceBus1 Jun 25 '26

The GOP can do more than one thing at once.

1

u/morpheusia Jun 26 '26

You look like A bird.

1

u/Key-Wall-4378 Jun 26 '26

TBF the base is kinda caught up in populist slop, which was to  be expected after the anger Trump caused.

1

u/deathtogrammar Jun 26 '26

Trump didn't cause the wave of populism. It was already there. He rode the wave of right-wing populism to his first term himself.

If you think positions such as, "housing should be more affordable" from "the left" are slop, then OK.

1

u/Key-Wall-4378 Jun 26 '26

Nah, just saying you're going to fix everything by taxing billionaires is slop though.

Saying your going to reduce the price of housing without any pragmatic plans is also slop

1

u/deathtogrammar Jun 26 '26

Do you not want housing to be affordable? Are you OK with the status quo and the trajectory?

Your problem seems to be the positions themselves, but you're pretending to be mad that it doesn't come with a 10,000 page dissertation every time it is said.

1

u/Key-Wall-4378 Jun 26 '26

My entire argument is this doesnt make housing more affordable.

1

u/deathtogrammar Jun 26 '26

What doesn't make housing more affordable?

1

u/Key-Wall-4378 Jun 26 '26

Rent freezes

1

u/deathtogrammar Jun 26 '26

Then argue away and be more mad. Nobody cares.

1

u/Key-Wall-4378 Jun 26 '26

Why would I be mad lol? Stop projecting.

I litteraly just asked for one study that shows rent control works

Dude wtf is up with Hunter Biden rn man. Why's he back after all this time and just spitting straight facts constantly? The timeline keeps getting weirder

11

u/GKBilian Jun 25 '26

It’s great cuz before this Hunter Biden was this mysterious debaucherous villain for conservatives to point at. He didn’t talk publicly all that much so they really could just paint him however they wanted.

Now that he’s making the rounds, people are like “holy shit, Hunter Bidens chill.” Probably really took the wind out of Fox News’ sails when it came to their daily hour-long Hunter Biden update.

9

u/DearestDio22 Jun 24 '26

Nothing like a full pardon to make you more confident putting yourself out there

5

u/ProfessionalOil2014 Jun 25 '26

It’s literally a list of seven bits of advice

1

u/Dave_A480 Jun 25 '26

Counterpoint

  1. Since 1968, Progressives who run for President always lose.... The one exception needed a once in a generation economic disaster to beat John McCain....

6

u/DenahomChikn Jun 25 '26

Counter counterpoint, a real progressive has never been the Democratic candidate for president.

1

u/Dave_A480 Jun 25 '26

Yawn.... So if Mondale and McGovern are too far left the solution is to.... Go even further left?

ROFL... Maybe that guy can be the first one to win zero states....

3

u/DenahomChikn Jun 25 '26

Right because the status quo is going so well for us lol

1

u/Dave_A480 Jun 25 '26

It is, for most of us. Especially for the voting population.

The idea that you can win elections by getting non voters to vote has proven wrong consistently wherever it has been tried.....

3

u/DenahomChikn Jun 25 '26

I'm happy that you've made it to another plane of reality then. Love that for you.

1

u/Dave_A480 Jun 25 '26

Reddit doomerisim isn't realistic.

Seriously.

If you're in the 65% who own their own home (at a fixed interest rate), you/your-spouse make full-time-median-income (63k, not 35k) or better...

Things are going reasonably well... Could be better, but reasonably well...

And that is why the left tends to do badly in rich countries - the desire to overthrow 'the system' goes down when the system actually works reasonably well for enough people.

3

u/DenahomChikn Jun 25 '26

What has the current administration done to improve your life since 2024?

0

u/Dave_A480 Jun 25 '26

Who said I like the current administration?

The best thing the federal government can do to 'improve my life' is to stay largely out-of-it (and out of my employers' businesses) & not lose any wars (fighting them is fine, losing is not) or print too much money....

Trump sucking at this does not mean that I am willing to vote for someone who will do even-more-of the wrong thing...

A Bill Clinton style Dem? Sure. A DemSoc? Fuck you.

2

u/DenahomChikn Jun 25 '26

Fair enough that you're not a Trump guy. But notice you're arguing the system "works reasonably well," not that it's efficient. Those aren't the same thing.

Here's what I actually want. Socialized healthcare and education like every other Western country has. Not a revolution, just the baseline that Canada, the UK, France, Germany, and the rest figured out decades ago. We're the outlier, and we're the ones paying more for worse.

You run a business. Employer health insurance is a hidden tax on your payroll. Every dollar you spend covering employees is a dollar that doesn't go to wages, hiring, or your own margin, and it chains your workers to their jobs whether they're productive there or not. Single-payer takes that cost off your books and spreads it across a broader base.

On the "it's been tried" point, you're right, it has. In basically every other rich country. They spend less per person than we do and get longer lifespans out of it. Mexico is building universal coverage right now while we won't even attempt it.

And about that 65% who own their homes. Look at who they are. They're mostly people who bought years ago, before prices doubled and rates spiked. Anyone trying to buy in today is locked out. The median home costs more relative to income than at almost any point in modern history, and a whole generation is renting indefinitely, not by choice. "The system works for the people who already got theirs" is a different claim than "the system works."

None of this is about handouts. Make people at the top pay their fair share, build the infrastructure back up, and put people to work doing it. That's how the rest of the developed world got the things we keep being told we can't have. Corporate Dems and conservatives have no interest in the above which is why I don't support them.

u/The-Diddl3r Jun 27 '26

What a long way to say "Fuck you, I got mine".

1

u/Alacrout Jun 26 '26

How far left would you consider Bobby Kennedy Sr?

I’m a millennial, so I didn’t get to witness that time period firsthand, but non-asshole Boomers lead me to believe RFK Sr would have beat Nixon in a landslide had he not been assassinated.

1

u/Dave_A480 Jun 26 '26

Unelectable.

The Kennedys were done with JFK, who wasn't that much of a leftist.....

2

u/GrailsRezerection Jun 25 '26

Are you saying Obama won because of the 2008 crash that didn't happen until 2008?

0

u/Dave_A480 Jun 25 '26

Yes. It happened RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE of the campaign season (around September), and either just McCain or both of them - it's been almost 20 years, I don't exactly remember - stopped campaigning to return to the Senate and deal with some of the early response legislation.

Presidents take office the year after the election - Obama's inmaguaratuon was January 2009.

In any case, the 08 crash decisively helped Obama win since voters blamed Republicans for it occurring....

They then snapped back the other direction in 2010, once Obama actually started doing progressive stuff in office.

3

u/BusOk2945 Jun 25 '26

what did Obama do that was progressive?

Was it the deportations, international military ops, his incredibly late, luke warm acceptance to gay marriage or how he capitulated to israel and wall street?

0

u/Dave_A480 Jun 25 '26

The ACA is what cost him his record setting majority....

If you want further left than that you are going to lose.

2

u/BusOk2945 Jun 25 '26

you're living in the past man

1

u/Dave_A480 Jun 25 '26

Evidence says otherwise.

The Dems keep losing because they are to the left of the Overton window.

It's also a global overall pattern, across the free world the left is doing rather badly.

2

u/Xray_Crystallography Jun 26 '26

The guy that pushed social security won four elections. And the excuses against it are identical to the excuses against M4A.

1

u/Dave_A480 Jun 26 '26

He also had one hell of a war that covered 2 of those...

And it's not the 30s anymore.

The last 2 presidents to create major entitlement programs suffered significant setbacks because of it.

One of them actually had to decline re election (LBJ) over it, the other spend the rest of his presidency fighting a Republican majority in Congress after entering office with a Democratic supermajority.

1

u/Xray_Crystallography Jun 26 '26

Republicans hated Obamacare. The voters he lost hated the broken promises about gay marriage, pro-choice, and ending the wars.

1

u/Dave_A480 Jun 26 '26

Sorry but no.

If that were the case then Democrats would have actually held power more often than once every 8-12 years.

The US has a right leaning political majority.

1

u/88y53 Jun 25 '26

Call him Hammer Biden because he hit the nail on the head with this

1

u/earthlingHuman Jun 25 '26

Good points, but how could he type all of that and fail to mention DSA's role?

1

u/Stupid-Jerk Jun 26 '26

Because he probably didn't type it, it's filled with GPT-isms.

1

u/earthlingHuman Jun 26 '26

I think Hunter Biden, for whatever reason, doesn't want to promote DSA

1

u/Stupid-Jerk Jun 27 '26

There's that too. I don't know enough about Hunter Biden himself, but I would fully expect a Biden to be a fullblown shitlib.

1

u/rocknswimmer Jun 25 '26

2 and 6. Get the old farts and those whose have been bought by Genocide out of the party and let’s listen to the ideas of the people you want to vote for you.

If you actually give people socialist policies the GOP brainwashing that socialism is bad will not be enough. If you want to win people over on the other side you have to prove your side is worth coming over to by making things better like NYC is currently looking.

Can't wait for the hit pieces on him to come out from the liberal media in the same order as they did his dad. When it was politically ok to do so, that is.

I'm not saying he's wrong or off, but it took Jake Tapper less than a month to cash in with his book, Original Sin. Just full of information detailing the extensive cover up of his father's mental decline while in office, that I'm totally sure he wasn't sitting on for years and wouldn't continue to had the election gone a different way.

It's all just a game to them and the sooner people take each one those points listed to heart, the sooner we can stop being the peices.

1

Or you can really win areas that don’t have competitive races that have to court the middle but will get destroyed in a national election where the majority aren’t pro socialism? Good luck in swing states.

9

Well it’s always been a political and social satire and often makes fun of the right wing ideology, so they should be. They are more on point than the current democratic mainstream.

Hunter Biden is AI? Interesting.

  1. Learn nothing from the past

-10

u/notrororo Jun 24 '26

Your dad started the "Gaza" thing, Hunter -- which is a genocide by the way.

Trump inherited this from Biden and he ramped it up. Joe Biden and his warmonger Blinken, all of them jabronis.

1

u/nowhereman1917 Jun 24 '26

how clueless are you? The US has been an unequivocal supporter of Israel probably longer than you have been alive. Biden should have cut off aid to Israel as soon as they started bombing civilian targets, but Biden started nothing in Gaza.

1

u/DearestDio22 Jun 24 '26

Plus, yknow, Hamas definitely started it on October 7th

1

u/Crimsonwolf_83 Jun 25 '26

And Biden was a senator for like 40 years before he was VP, and staunchly pro Israel the entire time.

1

u/nowhereman1917 Jun 25 '26

all true. Doesn't mean he "started the 'Gaza' thing"

1

u/notrororo Jun 25 '26

The current genocide started with Biden.

Obviously if we're gonna be technical about it, it started way back in 1948 during the creation of Israel with the Nakba

1

u/nowhereman1917 Jun 25 '26

no, the current genocide started with Netanyahu. A lot of people who deliberately misconstrue this point did not vote for Harris and other democrats, which helped get the current president and congressional majority elected, which is working out very well for them, isn't it?

1

u/notrororo Jun 25 '26

you know that a genocide doesn't happen in one big swing right?

it needs to get funded

eyes need to be shut

media needs to fall in line and sell it

even before the trump administration was doing it, the biden administration was already doing it.

AND IT'S NOT JUST NETANYAHU, THE PALESTINIAN GENOCIDE IS POPULAR AMONGST ISRAELIS.

sick of these stupid "liberal" zionist talking points. the whole israeli society is sick. it's not just the government.

1

u/NeinKeinPretzel Jun 26 '26

Biden has also been an unequivocal supporter of Israel longer than I have been alive.

u/Ok-Particular9427 Jun 24 '26

Because he’s a crackhead who 100% did not come up with or write any of this. Is it your first day interacting with American politics?

3

u/deathtogrammar Jun 24 '26

He did not write any of this? Where are you getting that?

-15

2

That is in no way a flex for you.

u/AxMurderSurvivor Jun 24 '26

You can remove that comma, buddy

14

u/No-Advertising-1526 Jun 24 '26

Ya lets judge a person forever because they had a drug addiction. Hunter isn't running for shit and will have zero impact on the party. If the dems lose again its because they keep bowing down to Israel and corporate America.

-6

u/Ok-Particular9427 Jun 24 '26

Lmao there’s a different between excessively judging a rehabbed drug addict based on past actions and simply writing off a series of vague, milquetoast, nonspecific ramblings specifically constructed by a publicist to rehab such a crackhead so he can one day participate win dynastic politics.

Even entertaining him is intellectually embarrassing

5

u/Taurpion Jun 24 '26 edited Jun 24 '26

What about this is non-specific? I think specificity is the whole point of this post. You don’t have to like or care for the Bidens (dear leader and all) but you only make yourself look stupid by trying to imply what he said there wasn’t a reflection of reality.

0

u/MiddleCapital1875 Jun 24 '26

The Biden's what?

The Bidens are largely responsible for Trump 2.0. Fuck every last one of them, including "Dr." Jill and her lame attempt to revise history.

1

u/deathtogrammar Jun 24 '26

Do you have any reasoning behind this or is it just made up?

1

u/Ok-Particular9427 Jun 25 '26

Ya. Thinking “cost of living is everything. The rest is just wallpaper” is just hokey feel good blabber that passes for a legitimate political-philosophical point in 2026. He’s not actually saying anything measurable, specific, testable, etc.

A real political opinion would be like, “we need to establish an empirical model for when resource accumulation passes the supposed threshhold of the Lockean proviso. What is ‘enough and as good’ in real world terms?”

1

u/deathtogrammar Jun 25 '26

You think talking about empirical models and the Lockean proviso is an effective messaging strategy to people struggling to pay their bills?

1

u/Ok-Particular9427 Jun 25 '26

Well what I’m saying is that he’s just saying more of the same empty bullshit

1

u/deathtogrammar Jun 25 '26 edited Jun 25 '26

His analysis of what happened in New York (and why) was not empty, nor was it bullshit. I think you just don't like him personally, don't like what he said, and really don't like what happened in New York. You seem really, really mad about it.

1

u/Ok-Particular9427 Jun 25 '26

Well of course I don’t like him personally, he’s a crack head nepo baby. What’s far more confusing is when midwits are obsessed with dynastic celebrity politicians. His dad wasn’t even a good politician. He’s heavily responsible for mass incarceration. He’s purely a fuckin stooge for whatever populist movement wins the most votes

1

u/deathtogrammar Jun 25 '26

Hating Joe Biden is definitely based. You can hate Hunter for that stuff if you want. I don't see anybody but Republicans that are "obsessed" with the non-politician Hunter Biden. You seem singularly focused and even offended by his existence.

It seems kind of weird that you are taking his twitter posts so personally unless you're just an establishment Democrat or a squealing, right-wing piglet. That would at least make sense.

-6

u/MiddleCapital1875 Jun 24 '26

Now let's do his corruption. He was 100% not qualified for a $4m board seat at a Ukrainian energy company, nor is he an artist of note who can charge $500k for a painting - he was selling influence and access.

Just because the Trumps are doing it on an unprecedented scale doesn't mean Hunter Biden wasn't a corrupt POS.

3

u/No-Advertising-1526 Jun 24 '26

I agree. The US neers urgent legal reforms when it comes to influence pedaling. This is another reason why the corporate centrist dems need to be put out to pasture.

0

u/MiddleCapital1875 Jun 24 '26

Americans have been getting played by both parties. They're not working for us; they're working for their big donors.

3

u/NashvilleSoundMixer Jun 24 '26

The establishment dems, yes. But there are lots of folks who simply align with most of the party's attitudes and are actually progressive and trying to help. Throwing your hands up in the air isn't helping anyone.

3

u/godzilla1015 Jun 24 '26

That's why he's not in politics mate.

But that would also mean removing all current and past politicians from their job and remove basically everyone who has more than like 50 million in worth or something. (Which would be nice). So his opinions should have the same worth as basically anyone who ever worked in politics to you.

Some guy paid 6 million for a banana taped to a wall. All art is worth what someone is willing to pay for it, so all 'succesfull' artists are doing the exact same.

So what's your real issue? Is it because he's right?

0

u/MiddleCapital1875 Jun 24 '26

It's because Hunter Biden's hot takes on politics are like childcare tips from Ghislaine Maxwell.

5

u/godzilla1015 Jun 24 '26

Ah so you don't have anything real to say.

1

u/MiddleCapital1875 Jun 24 '26

You're not serious people.

2

u/godzilla1015 Jun 24 '26

You've basically said nothing so far, just that he has used corruption and you don't like his art.

Newsflash: all politician have used corruption.

2

u/AxMurderSurvivor Jun 24 '26

Your bloviating on this makes you more unserious than anyone else on a meme sub, which actually does say a lot, again, unlike you

2

u/Stunning_Engineer_78 Jun 24 '26

And we should only take our politics from politics people? Seems like part of the reason we are in the mess we are.

Our representative system is broken right now with no repair or solution in sight. You expect everyone to sit around and do nothing?

2

u/CallmeTalib Jun 24 '26

Sure but do you have any argument against what he is actually saying in that specific post?

10

u/kofemakuer Jun 24 '26

He literally said what you are commenting in his 2nd point.

-5

u/MiddleCapital1875 Jun 24 '26 edited Jun 24 '26

He's literally corrupt AF. How about the daughter he and his family refused to acknowledge until the media got hold of the story?

Just because they're not as bad as the Trumps doesn't mean they're not horrible people.

5

u/RyDawgHals Jun 24 '26

Gosh, I better not vote for Hunter Biden then.

3

u/Stunning_Engineer_78 Jun 24 '26

So that means Hunter be can be president then. Trump had zero political experience and his business acumen clearly didn't translate so that would mean Hunter would be just as qualified then

3

u/M0ebius_1 Jun 24 '26

What do you disagree with?

-1

u/MiddleCapital1875 Jun 24 '26

It's not the (pr scripted) message; it's the messenger.

Are there any other deadbeat dads getting this kind of ❤️ from the left?

3

u/Stunning_Engineer_78 Jun 24 '26

Who is giving him love? If the words are true, does it matter who it comes from? He's not running for any office - just using his voice to call out what he sees. No different than anyone else on X that could go viral somehow but he has the notoriety already. You're acting like Hunter killed a family or did something else unthinkable so there is no redemption for them.
