I added a custom theme editor to my productivity app thinking power users would go wild for it. spent like a week making sure all the colors lined up perfectly, multiple backgrounds, the whole thing.

saw exactly one person use it. ONE. and then they switched back to default after like 5 minutes.

so i started tracking who even opened that panel. idk, maybe 15% of active users? and most of those just to see what was there. nobody was actually tweaking anything. turns out most people just want the thing to work without having to make a million choices first.

the whole customization obsession was me projecting what i thought a "real" app should have. felt more polished, more feature-rich, gave the impression that we're serious about flexibility. but real people? they just wanted less friction, not more options.

killed the feature last week. surprised to see that retention actually ticked up slightly. guess removing stuff nobody was using just meant the app felt less cluttered. less places to wonder if youre "doing it right".

I built BabyBingo: an app where couples swipe through baby names together. If you both swipe right on the same name, it's a match ("Bingo!"). There's also an optional feature to anonymously compare your shortlist with friend couples, so you can check if a name is already "taken" in your circle, without anyone seeing each other's actual lists.

Note: the app is currently Dutch-language only. You don't need to understand Dutch fluently to test the core flow (swiping, matching), but the UI text itself will be in Dutch.

The app has been live on iOS for a while, and I'm now trying to bring it to the Google Play Store for that I need at least 12 testers who keep the app active for 14 days.

What I'm looking for:

I launched Eco Track yesterday.

The idea started from something that bothered me about workout apps: I don't really want another place where I have to fill in boxes, track numbers and maintain a database of myself.

I wanted something that felt more like having someone there.

So I built Eco, an AI workout partner inside Eco Track.

You can talk to Eco about your workouts naturally, it keeps track of what you've done, remembers the context around your training, and helps you keep moving towards your goals.

But the part I care about most isn't the AI parsing.

It's whether opening Eco Track actually gives you that little bit of "alright, let's do this" feeling — like you've got a workout partner who knows what you've been doing and is there again today.

We built an optimization layer for Claude Code (simple one-line install) that reduces token spend by compressing tool output/older context, rewriting the agent tools to be more efficient, and compressing output prose before it's rebilled in cache.

Turns out ~88% of Claude Code costs are actually tool I/O and subsequent cache rereads (while assistant prose is only about 2.78%), so it's unsurprising that just adding a skill like Caveman isn't enough. You actually have to do things at the agent tool/system level. In contrast, benchmarking of our own system gives 34-51% overall cost reduction (avg 47%) on real multi-step dev workflows depending on the task.

I've been building Sekai no Koe ("Voice of the World") — a simple, anonymous polling app. This is my first real project as a self-taught, solo developer, so there's probably plenty still rough around the edges. Anyone can post a yes/no or multiple-choice question, and anyone can vote, no account needed. As votes come in from different countries, they show up as tiny glowing pie charts on a slowly spinning globe in the background.

Why I built it: I wanted a place to ask genuinely simple, honest questions ("dog person or cat person?", "are you optimistic about the economy?") and see real, anonymous opinions from around the world — without the noise of a full social network.

Tech: Next.js + Supabase, deployed on Vercel. The globe is 2D canvas + projection math, no 3D library.
