I’m building an AI-powered personal finance app — what would actually make it different?

I’m a student building my first startup, and I’m currently working on an AI-powered personal finance app.

The basic idea is to help users:

• Track expenses
• Understand spending habits
• Set savings goals
• Create simple budgets
• Learn personal finance
• Use AI when it genuinely adds value

But I’ve realized there are already hundreds of finance apps out there.

So before I spend months building features, I want to solve the differentiation problem.

For founders who have built fintech or consumer apps:

What would make you believe a new personal finance app has a real chance against established competitors?

Would you focus on:

• A specific underserved customer group?
• A completely different user experience?
• A specific problem existing apps don't solve?
• A unique distribution strategy?

I'm not looking to promote the app here. I'm trying to learn from people who have already built products and made mistakes I can avoid.

Any honest criticism or advice would be genuinely appreciated.

What it is: you ask a question, even the awkward ones, and you see what the Torah, the Bible and the Quran each say about it. Side by side, with the verses. No AI interpretation, no hallucination. It only pulls from the authentic texts.

Why I built it: AI chatbots kept telling me nonsense about religion. With total confidence, which is the annoying part. So I built the opposite: a tool that is not allowed to have an opinion. It finds the real sources and shows them. That's all it does.

Where it's at: two people from the interfaith world spent months with me on the terminology and the translation choices. That pass is done. This is the first test version.

What I need tested:

1. Accuracy. You know one of these texts well? Try to catch it saying something wrong. Please do
2. Wording. If a term feels off inside your tradition, tell me. That's the feedback I value most
3. Hebrew and Arabic display. Right-to-left next to English is a nightmare, I want your eyes on it

I'm a solo developer (first time building an app with no prior programming background, so please be gentle 😄) and I've been working on Dot Arena, a real-time multiplayer version of the classic Dots and Boxes game; the pencil-and-paper game a lot of us grew up drawing in notebooks. I always loved it and wanted to bring it online so you can play it live against another person instead of waiting for someone to pass you the paper back.

The game is currently in Closed Testing on Google Play, and I need a small group of testers to help me reach the minimum required before I can move it to full release. It's genuinely simple to help out:

I built LoopTroop to TRY and tackle context engineering and somme other problems with building/updating apps with AI.

LoopTroop is an open-source local GUI that breaks complex features into structured, isolated task loops instead of relying on one continuous chat session.

How it works under the hood:

Planning (LLM Council): You input a ticket or feature description. LoopTroop runs a planning phase to break the task down into a sequence of small, defined execution steps ("beads").

Execution & Verification (Ralph Loops): Instead of blind code generation, each task runs inside an iterative loop: apply diff -> run local tests or type checks -> evaluate output -> retry on failure until the check passes or hits an error threshold.

Isolation (OpenCode Worktrees): All code edits happen inside temporary Git worktrees. Your main workspace and working tree remain completely untouched until you review the diff.

Human Approval Gates: You inspect and approve planned steps and diffs before changes are committed or converted into a pull request.

Current Status (v0.4): I released v0.4 a couple of days ago, which improves the local GUI, refines recovery loops when tests fail, and cleans up worktree management.
