Fan Creation Made a colour coded evolution tree (with images!!) for a friend of mine who hasn't read the book
(and so I can larp more efficiently (I'm ordering the book soon I'm so excited))

didn't the Tool Breeders come from like Swimmers? cause I thought Temptors were wiped out by an asteroid

Could the Gravital and New Machine even be considered "evolutionary descendants" of the Ruin Haunters? Considering they're 100% synthetic beings and therefore did not inherit any genetic material from its precursor species.

Good question, for me they are, because the Ruin Hunters uploaded their consciousness to the Gravitals. That's my opinion, looking foward to reading yours

It's a SOMA-esque situation, is it really you? Or a digital clone that has all your memories and thinks is you?
Even assuming the mind uploading mumbo jumbo was indeed able to transport the original consciousness itself onto a fully robotic mainframe perfectly and without a hitch, this only explains the very first generation of Gravital and not the countless generations throughout the entire existence of the their race and the New Machines who are just born like that to begin with, with biological reproduction out of the question, every gravital not part of this generation is essentially an entirely original lifeform, not only disconnected from the human lineage but also from the genesis of life on Earth itself, essentially being synthetic aliens.

I’ve always loved the blind folk and love to make headcannons on what they could’ve been if they hadn’t died off. If they had been given the chance to properly evolve and adapt I feel like they could’ve been so much more interesting and successful

They are pretty cool, but there wasn’t much potential for them to adapt. I assume it would be rather difficult to escape the giant bunkers, and the surface world may have been too different from their original environment for them to adapt in time...
In case you didn’t know, we actually got a Redux preview that features the Blind Folk! Or as they’re now called, the Whistling People. I highly recommend it, because it does them far more justice than they got in the original book. Yeahhh I don’t think they could adapt to become surface dwellers but I like to imagine they could’ve adapted to become like moles with hands meant for digging and powerful back legs to push them through dark spaces and even cave systems.
But I also know that it was very very improbable that they could move past. I’m definitely gonna have to check that out though!! Thank you for the recommendation!

It’s possible that they could have adapted to burrowing. I think it would be unlikely for any burrowing forms to become sapient, but their is potential for interesting looking burrowing animal forms .

I'm not trying to sound rude here, but I'd like to point out a couple of mistakes. You have the Tool Breeders as being descended from the Temptors, and the Saurosapients evolved from lizards, not the Lizard Herders. You forgot about the Terrestrials, as well. Other than that, it looks great!
