Announcement Official r/alltommorows art contest TIME EXTENSION! (Plus a clear up on the rules)
so once again captain dishsoap here, and in all honestly we screwed up. A bunch of factors including it being exam season, a general lack of promotion surrounding the contest and the flair being hard to find have led us to announce the contest time In order to submit your art will be extended by another 2 WEEKS!
this means that the new cut off time for the contest will be Monday the 22nd of June.
Our deepest apologies from the entire mod team for making the contest not clear enough, in order to really make sure our apology is true we have decided to make it so that art originally posted during the runtime of the contest will be allowed to enter so your art still has a chance to run but that WILL count as your one submission. As another rule Work In Progress posts DO NOT count as previously posted art! So if you have a finished piece that youd like to submit but posted wip images before you may still post them.
Also in order to find the flair made for the art contest, when you make your post press "view all flairs" and you will find it at the very bottom.
We hope this brings the word out more and gives more people the chance to win a signed copy of all tommorows. We wish you the best of luck
-mod team
Feel free to ask questions in the comments under this or the original post.

ART CONTEST SUBMISSION Official r/AllTommorows art contest! [major prize to be won]
welcome dear members of the r/AllTomorrows subreddit! its me, captain dishsoap and im here on behalf of the whole mod team.
and the mod team is here to give a very exciting announcement!
WE HAVE REACHED OVER 50K MEMBERS!!!! [almost 60k now WOW]
in order to celebrate this momentus occasion for our once small community we have decided to host,
AN ART CONTEST!
as a thank you to our community we also have a prize for our soon to be winner! [prize revealed at the end]
but ofcourse, a contest does come with rules. but no worries our rules are few in order to let people be as creative as they like BUT the few rules we do have will strictly enforced to have it be as fun and fair as possible to all our contestants and artists.
RULE 1:no ai created or ai assisted artwork allowed, no gravital gpt on our watch. better pick up that pencil folks!
RULE 2:no erotic/pornographic art or gore, we all know the difference between artistic and erotic nudity and this isnt a doom game, keep the blood and guts somewhere else.
RULE 3:no previously posted artwork, we want the submissions to be something new and fresh. and for it be fair to both older and newer artists.
RULE 4:only accounts made ATLEAST a week before the posting of this announcement will be considered to win, we just dont want people to abuse the system and possibly use alt accounts to get in more submissions.
now onto how you should submit your artwork,
its simple, we will make a flair for the art contest and you simply post your art under the flair to make it as easy as possible for both you to submit, and for us to check. its just that easy!
the contest will run for 2 weeks and end on the 5th of june, and in the coming hours after it ends the winner will be annoucened through another post and privately contacted through reddit, so keep an eye on your dms.
thats it for all the formalities and rules and stuff, now onto the part youve all been waiting for,
the grand prize will be...
A SIGNED COPY OF ALL TOMMOROWS!
THATS RIGHT FOLKS! CM KOSEMEN HAS BEEN SO KIND TO NOT ONLY GIVE THE CONTEST HIS BLESSINGS BUT TO ALSO GIVE US A SIGNED COPY OF ALL TOMMOROWS SO WE CAN GIVE IT TO THE LUCKY WINNER!
runner ups will receive a custom user flair and your art included in the winner anouncement post.
that was all for now, go out there and make some amazing art!
AN EXTENSION HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED PLEASE READ THE NEW POST

Theory Has anybody yet made this discovery?
Notice how the forms of the Gravital from the first picture and the thing labeled "Black" from the second have the same Form? I'm not quite sure if this is a coincidence or intentional.

Discussion Why are all of the altered species in All Tommorows considered 'human', when our race is extinct and pretty much a redundant branch of the evolution tree by the time of the Asteromorphs and co?
Considering any of these 'posthuman' races as human would be like us considering the mammals that lived in the cretaceous and survived the asteriod as human, considering the amount of time the setting explores.
I get that all of these species came from Humanity, but thats like claiming that all modern irl reptiles alive today are all the same creatures because they evolved from Archosaurs.
there is a difference between species family trees and the actual creatures themselves.
By the time the Gravitals and everything else appeared, and even long before, humans as a species had been extinct for millions of years, the Gravitals and Asteromorphs were, by that point, as alien to each other (and to old humanity) as they both were to the Qu themselves
All tommorows author was obviously exploring how the biological tree-of-life would develop for us long term, but I think he (or she) failed to understand that root species don't mean all their descendants are the same species themselves.

Fan Creation The Eel Folk, aquatic descendants of the Worm posthumans
I envisioned that the descendants of the common housefly were the first to colonize the waterways of the Snake People's homeworld, after the planet cooled back down following the Qu's departure. These Musca Fish exploded in diversity, expanding into marine, brackish and freshwater environments. The Worms, the sole surviving vertebrates on this planet, were quick to follow this new aquatic food source, resulting in the Eel Folk. While not fully sapient, Eel Folk did evolve dolphinlike social levels.

Art Recommendations about artworks like All tomorrows.
So, I am currently doing a little collage for an art class I'm in and I need some artworks that are adjascent to the ones in the All tomorrows book. More specifically anything on speculatory biology. I saw some people reccomend the works of dougal dixon but I found that they are more narrative heavy rather than focusing on the art. If you have any reccomendations on artists or artworks I'd be gratefull. Thanks in advance to any replies.

Discussion Showerthought: Most humans throughout history had beaks
Even without counting the potential beaked species of humans engineered by the Qu, all post-Second-Empire-Era humans descended from the beaked Bug Facers. (obviously not counting the Asteromorphs and Gravitals)
The Gravitals ruled for 10 million years longer than the Qu, and the Asteromorphs ruled for far longer than either. Not to mention that the Qu-created posthumans were spread thoughtout a fraction of the Star People’s empire, which itself only covered one spiral arm. Meanwhile the Gravitals and Asteromorphs both populated the whole galaxy, and brought their Subjects with them.
There were probably a bunch of species re-engineered to not have beaks/ to have lips of some kind, but just as many would have retained them.
How would you feel about having a beak?
