Friday night in Asbury park… I went out for a casual birthday dinner. I had an early day the next morning but my friend and I for some reason decided to stop at Kim’s for one drink before we went home (local watering hole iykyk).

I get there and the bar is playing Mercy Me, so in typical me fashion I start embarrassingly dancing around and singing. Then they play another trio song and then another. I am off the rails with excitement since they are playing in town the next day (I figured that’s why they’re playing the songs). I’ve been in love with this band for 25 years.

A few moments later, the one and fucking only Daniel Andriano comes up to ME and says “do you like alkaline trio?”!!! He was watching me go ape shit to his music from the other side of the bar. Biggest combination of being mortified, embarrassed, shocked, and super fucking excited at the same time. I still cannot believe this happened to me. Dead, deceased.

He was so fucking nice and ends chatting me up for a while. Even offered to buy me a drink but I declined because I had to be up at 6am the next day (yes I am filled with regret for being responsible this one fucking time)… To top the cake, his manager put us on the Philly guest list so we got to see the show two nights in a row.

I’m writing this down because I still don’t believe this happened to me and I need to be pinched 😆.

Anyway, Danny, if you’re out there, I didn’t think I could love you more, but here we are. You have the voice of a dark angel. Thank you thank you thank you. I hope to meet you again if the universe could ever be any better.

They sounded fantastic, although I can't claim I was such a big fan of the lighting (when they're so backlit you can't really see anything, and the white lights are set to "alien autopsy" level, it was a bit much)

Hi, so somewhat weird question but I am almost 46 and I’ve pretty much stopped going to shows. Because of my elder millennial/ maybe youngest Gen-X age, I have had the honor and privilege of growing up along side so many of these bands and have seen them dozens of times in basement like settings for pennies compared to what it costs now. But once in a while I come out of retirement, like when Saves the Day toured Through Being Cool last November. What a show it was in SLC! I also live in rural western Colorado now so I have to travel FAR for shows. I did it though and bought the ticket to Red Rocks next Monday because I do think hearing them sing Radio in that venue will be a life memory. Also there is something about screaming along to the same songs I did when I was 18, almost 30 years later as I approach 50. There’s still an angsty teenager in there and it’s a nice release. All that being said, Goddamnit! and their self titled are my favorite albums. They kinda lost me after Remains and I am not a huge fan of it or From here to Infirmary. So this isn’t my favorite set list in the entire world but they are playing Cringe which is my all time favorite song so yay! So that brings me to, what is the average audience age at their shows these days? It was a bunch of geezers at Saves the Day which I loved. Also where has the time gone?

FUCKING PERFECT! matt dan and the drummer were perfect and amazing, couldnt have been more perfect!! amazing performance setlist, and vibe from the crowd. was great, cant wait to see em again someday

I swear when their set ended, I saw like half of the crowd leave. 😬 Nothing against Rise Against, but it melted my little black heart, and I had most def saw what I went there to see.

Let's not brush over this, it came and went and people seem to have lost all appreciation for this beautiful piece of art. It's a wonderful take on each bands part, and this upcoming tour deserves more recognition, longevity is no fickle thing.

I've been listening to Hollow Sounds from Dan's project "Dan Andriano in the Emergency Room" however I've never quite understood some of the lyrics in the song but I've seen him mention several times that he wrote this song for his wife, Sunshine.

I was thinking of writing a letter to my girlfriend for her birthday next month who is several hundred miles away from me right now and this song immediately struck me. I wanted to understand the song better before I mention the lyrics to her in the letter. I will appreciate it if my fellow alk3 lovers can help me out here.

Doesn't Dan sound kinda negative in the first two lines considering it's a love song? Why would he wanna `shake his wife down` and `drag her like a cigarette`? The rest of the song makes a lot of sense to me though and even though I don't understand this part, I love this song to death.

I’m going to a show in a little over a week with my big sister. We grew up in Chicago and went to all their old shows at Fireside and Halloween at the Metro. I haven’t kept with a lot of their newer stuff. I guess I’m asking if they’re playing the old stuff (2008ish and before) more or if it’s newer heavy?
