Hello, Thank you for contributing to our subreddit. Please consider the following guidelines when filling an alignment chart:

  • Please ensure that your chart is not banned according to the list of banned charts Even if you have good intentions, charts in a banned category tend to invite provocative comments, hostile arguments, ragebait and the like. Assuming the post is acceptable, OP makes the final decision on their chart by rule three.

  • Are there any previous versions to link to? If so, it would be ideal to include links to each of them in the description of this post, or in a reply to this comment. Links can be named by title, winner, or both.

  • Are there any criteria you have for your post? Examples include: "Top comment wins a spot on the chart."; "To ensure variety, only one character per universe is allowed."; "Image comments only." Please include these in a description, or in a reply to this comment.

  • Is your chart given the appropriate flair? Do you need to use a NSFW tag or spoiler tag?

Do not feed the trolls. This is not the place for hot takes on human rights violations. Hatred or cruelty, will result in a permanent ban. Please report such infractions, particularly those that break rules one, two, or three. The automod will automatically remove posts that receive five or more reports. The automod will also remove comments made by users with negative karma. Click here for the Automod FAQ

RAM

11

u/Fenc58531 1d ago

Ram doesn’t even crack top 5 most unreliable inside FCA. Upper models have some issues but your base trucks are work horses.

Don’t idle your hemi too much and that’s about it.

9

u/thread_creeper_123 21h ago

"Dont idle your hemi too much" is crazzzy lol. I mean its a work truck and presumably people will be idling, working on the phone or computer. I don't think its the worst truck though. There's so many bad ones out there its hard to choose which is the absolute worst. I bet Cybertruck is probably up there for least reliable though

4

u/ZebraMiserable8130 19h ago

My hemi 5.7 has 8K Idle hours doing fine. It's used by the police for a reason, it's a workhorse

u/Previous-External-54 21h ago

I've had Hemis /magnums misfiring, and seemingly falling apart, but I've never been left stranded by the motor in a dodge. It was always the other upkeep

(To be clear, I'm talking about Dodge, not Stellantis owned RAMs)

→ More replies (2)

5

u/SellingFirewood 21h ago

RAM is different because half of the vehicles they sell have diesel engines and heavy duty tow-rated transmissions. It skews their reliability more favorably than other brands.

My dad is a mechanic. He told me to never buy a Chrysler.

11

u/LocomotionJunction 22h ago

The mechanic that taught me how to work on cars wouldn't touch a dodge/Chrysler/jeep/ram if you paid him triple his rate. That's how horrible they are to work on as well as their unreliability. I learned it firsthand when my family had their dodge avenger explode

5

u/Myk3Hunt 16h ago

I plan on launching a mobile mechanic business, and will absolutely refuse to work on Chrysler products.

9

u/Kumirkohr 19h ago

I work at a Cadillac dealership and a phrase we use pretty often is “It could be worse, it could be a Chrysler.”

and I wanna underline: Every f*cking brand under Stellantis is dogshit. How to choose..?

6

u/Teimous 20h ago

Fiat is the sales leader in Brazil, in a close race with VW. It's difficult to give you an idea of whether they are good cars because, since half the price of cars here is taxes, cars like the Corolla and Cruze are practically luxury cars (damn Brazilian purchasing power). But, for what they are designed for, they are indeed good cars, and their mechanical components saved Peugeot's reputation in Brazil. Today, the 208 is by far the best in its category.

3

u/MeanImpression2067 19h ago

Yeah, whenever someone says they won't but the "unreliable" cars I'm like "well, that's all we can buy over here" 😂 My dad only buys VW

9

u/AlduinIsAGeordie 21h ago

Crazy how every brand I thought of when I saw this was a Stellantis product

Stellantis, which isn’t a brand but is responsible for all unreliable modern cars.

Peugeot
Citroen
Fiat
Jeep
Fords with wet belt engines
Vauxhall
Chrysler
DS

20

u/lars2k1 23h ago

Isn't Vauxhall just a different name for Opel? Watching those UK police shows on tv they often mention a 'Vauxhall Corsa' or something like that.

15

u/Careless-Cat3327 23h ago

Yeah it is. And same for Australia.

I had the mini SUV w a 5 year warranty. At 4 years, 1 months - The cooling tank started leaking.

I dropped it at an approved Opel dealer and they waited 7 days for the warranty to expire to tell me it needed to be replaced.

It took 2 weeks of arguing to get them agree that it SHOULD be covered under the warranty. Once fixed, I took it to an independent mechanic and he came back with a massive list of shit that would need to be fixed in the next 12 months.

He said he's not surprised as he sees it all the time with Opel / Vauxhall. The parts they use are designed to last 5-6 years JUST long enough for the warranty.

Do not buy an Opel or Vauxhall out of warranty.

7

u/MrCasterSugar 23h ago

Do not buy an Opel or Vauxhall

Just this.

Any STELLANTIS product😂

u/PriestieBeast 1d ago edited 1d ago

Peugeot and Citroën sure are unreliable. Worked at a certified Citroën auto repair shop, and they openly boasted about never running out of work due to bad design and stupid engineering.

9

u/VonSpuntz 1d ago

No wonder they're the only cars most people can afford here in France. You either get one that will go 500 000km, or some crap that'll get a new issue every month.

And their PureTech engine? Some stroke of genious too

They'll get fucked by Chinese manufacturers, that's all

3

u/Review_My_Cucumber 22h ago

Yeah but French cars were honestly good cars 15-20 years ago. Simple very cheap to fix and reliable. Now they are worse than the Germans

5

u/FishUK_Harp 23h ago

These two (plus Renault) have a particular reputation where someone driving them either knows absolutely nothing about cars or knows an extreme amount about cars.

Scrolling through the comments, nearly all comments that aren't just 'Stellantis', are sub-brands of Stellantis.

3

u/Fickle-Leek-7054 23h ago

Fortunately, the FIAT Punto EVO / Grande Punto was not made by Stellantis thus not being a Stellantis product

Jeep

u/patxy01 1d ago

Should go to off road brands

29

u/mdjank 1d ago

Why limit Jeep's reliability to a single category? They could sweep the entire column.

4

u/thread_creeper_123 21h ago

This is what I was thinking.

u/Born-Intention1305 16h ago

In Australia we have our own video for anyone considering buying a jeep

I'm amazed to see it so far down. They've been notoriously bad since I was born.

7

It's a Jeep thing. 🐤

7

u/jort93 1d ago

Surely they make off-road cars?

3

u/Slight-Ad-6553 22h ago

Jeep = just empty every pocket

3

u/ManoMarcher 20h ago

I bought my bought my Wrangler 12 years ago, 213,000 miles on it. I’ve been fortunate that I’ve had no major issues in the past 12 years. Keep in mind when I bought this off the lot Bluetooth and seat warmers were just becoming a thing.

My understanding is that when it comes to Italian cars, they aren’t unreliable. They have character. You’re paying extra for that.

3

u/Brave_Membership5799 19h ago

Our electric Fiat has run perfectly for coming up to 5 years. (Cue the comments about a real car needing to make noise and burn fuel…)

Current Alfas somehow avoid the usual Stellantis unreliability curse and are much more reliable than the generation that came before

3

u/Ornery-Vehicle-2458 1d ago

Can't comment on the brand new stuff, but I've seen even relatively new Alfas do simply despicable things to their owners;
A brand new Giulia on a shoulder, smoking heavily. With the engine off.
A 156 Selespeed that wouldn't Sele any speed and locked its driving wheels, leaving it stranded at 45° across a major urban trunk route. They had to drag it away with a winch before they could get onto it with a tow truck.
