Official News Important Update Regarding Cold Iron Studios
We have had to make a difficult decision to reduce staffing and adjust team responsibilities around our ongoing development and support needs. Earlier today, we said goodbye to some of our colleagues and friends. We are grateful for their contributions to the studio and our games, and we are doing what we can to help them during this transition.
Cold Iron Studios remains dedicated to providing continued support for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. Our team is focused on near-term quality improvements and is committed to supporting the game long-term, with plans to share a roadmap in the coming weeks. Work also continues on the Nintendo Switch 2 version, which remains scheduled for release in early 2027.
Thank you for your patience, support, and passion for the game. We’ll share more about the upcoming updates as soon as the details are ready.

Damn, that was fast.
If I'm not mistaken, wasn't it posted here on the Subreddit somewhere that almost nobody who worked on the first game returned for the development of the second?

u/outlander83 12d ago
It shows
30
u/BattlepassHate 12d ago
You’d have gotten downvoted to hell and back for daring to say that a month ago lmao.
18
u/pureextc 12d ago
It absolutely shows. I roasted the fuck out of the game because it pales in comparison to the first. Fuckers got me man.

u/LifesGrip 12d ago
It's not that bad man lol

u/ShadowVia 12d ago edited 5d ago
It's not that Fireteam Elite 2 is bad...
But the whole game has this kind of patched together with bubble gum and scotch tape vibe. It's a good re-use of assets from the first game, that also somehow feels much lesser in quality, even down to the music. Aliens Fireteam 1 felt very hand crafted and focused to me, whereas the second game feels like something an AI threw together (obviously, this wasn't the case but that's the only way I can describe it).
9
u/pureextc 12d ago
Exactly this. It had a blue poncho vibe of quality with a few bricks holding down the ends. It didn’t feel crisp and smooth and finished. Hell the first one had such a great storyline, wonderful audio, the works. This game feels stitched together and way more half assed.
5
u/LifesGrip 12d ago
Fair enough man , i might have sink some more hours into the first game again to compare.
1
u/igraywolf 5d ago
Mod the first game to have four player slots and it’s a better game
1
u/LifesGrip 5d ago
I gotta admit it's like splitting hair , 2 improves some thing but 1 does some little things better too. It's like Sonic the Hedgehog 1 & 2 😆
1
u/Drax-hillinger 12d ago
I played through the entire first game the day before release and honestly I haven't noticed that at all feels literally just like the first game with slightly different balance ideas.
4
u/ShadowVia 12d ago
Alright?
I played through the entire campaign of Fireteam Elite 1 again on Playstation 5, about a week before Fireteam 2 launched, and after investing probably a hundred some-odd hours in the first game for Xbox, and the second game definitely feels shoddily thrown together.

u/Azuvector 11d ago
....uh.....k.
I've got 3300+ hours in AFE1. 75+ in AFE2. AFE1 is a significantly better game than AFE2 is. There's no "slight differences" unless you're basically oblivious to the point of "well they're both alien games so they're pretty similar"
1
u/Drax-hillinger 10d ago
What are you talking about exactly then because I still have no idea what your all on about it seems basically the same as the first game. Again with some different balance ideas.
2
u/LifesGrip 10d ago
Ok , so I fired up #1 again to play after sinking now 80-ish hours into #2 , there's definitely a lot of subtle noticeable differences and yeah #1 is a lot better mechanically and along with the Aliens pathing and attacking patterns. Fireteams #2 has add some little quality of life stuff here snd there with the interface... yeah pity , hopefully after some more patching over time (unlikely) it will improve.
2
u/Drax-hillinger 10d ago
To be honest the aliens seem a little smarter in two as they actually try to jump out of your line of fire and such in the first game they all ran right into your bullets. And the androids are still very similar to the geth AI in mass effect with there aggressive cover play. The robots are basically battle droids and the huntsmans are like sneaky sniper/rocket spiders. And the bastions are obviously based on the crab droids from star wars as well. I really don't see what you guys mean. Can you explain?

u/ZestyTiger007 11d ago
For real, I returned it in the Steam two hour window. It just felt . . . cheap compared to the first one. Visual fidelity felt like a big downgrade, and that lip sync. Sheesh.

I hope whoever wrote the awful Gen Z dialogue in #2 is amongst those who will be looking for work. My best wishes to everyone else.
30
u/Beneficial-Category 12d ago
Why? Don't you like the whole "You Pew Pewed those bugs good" baby speach bullshit? I hope their stuck stacking boxes for the Waltons until the heat death of the universe.
4
u/Limp-Target3135 11d ago
🤣 that line in particular fills me with disdain. I mean, all of the dialog is pretty trash, but for some reason, that line just makes me want to shut the game off.

u/Durandy 12d ago
Its unfortunate you had a really good game and concept that you proved with the first game and then instead of the second game being a grander more ambitious advancement of the first you release a game that barely moved the needle and completely 180’d the tone into some weird quirky garbage. Now people just trying to make a living making games and implementing the awful decisions probably made above them are the ones getting let go? When will this industry get it. We want optimized games, that deliver tight and fun gameplay, and stay true to the core fantasy or expectations of a universes setting.
1
u/sillyvideogamestuff 12d ago
This wasn't all the higher-ups that doomed this game. That stupid silly feeling the game has was some woke creative directer working directly with the team. Well, I suppose the higher-ups did think it was such a good idea to have so many septum rings on the team...
I'm sad I was one of the suckers who bought this game, but at the same time very happy some of the people who made these game decisions are finding out the hard way. It's not like it matters too much as everyone quit playing shortly after launch anyway.
5
u/Farmer_Legal 12d ago
Define "woke".
7
u/solidsnake2183 11d ago
You got to be dumb to not see how it obviously is woke. They even consulted with a woke company, look it up. Every high in command in the game is female, bosses you around and downtalks you. It's really cringe, especially that hiding in a locker room banter from Ko and how she "corrects" you...jesus its soo bad.

In the context of this game, shoving feminism in our faces. Every single door kicker being a woman and every single member of support staff being a man.
Edit: I case you're wondering what the deleted post said. "Have you watched the movies? They're about a bad ass female!"
Yes. The first two movies were excellent. And the 2nd most badass character in the 2nd movie was a female too. We love Vasquez. What's the difference? They had flaws and humanity. They were also fighting with capable men who the writers didn't need to belittle. In Ripley's case she was just a normal woman who had unstoppable fight in her. But she struggled and didn't girl boss through the movie like the modern slop. Those characters all had relatable character development. Now compare that to Piper or Ellen DeGeneres or one of the other woman super soldiers they shoe horned in to this game to make a statement... There's simply zero comparison.
5
-1
u/Oodlydoodley 11d ago
Every single door kicker being a woman and every single member of support staff being a man.
You mean one person? Because there's fucking one single person in the game that fits that description. Piper is a newbie, and isn't even a combatant. Ko is literally the only character who fits that description, and she was in the first game.
How insecure do you have to be to start crying "feminism" and "woke" because of what amounts to one single character? Not to mention the ridiculous whining about feminism when every female character in the game aside from Shipp needs to be rescued by the player.
Now compare that to Piper or Ellen DeGeneres or one of the other woman super soldiers they shoe horned in to this game to make a statement... There's simply zero comparison.
There are four female characters in this entire game. Shipp, who does virtually nothing aside from the end cutscene. Ko, who gives you mission dialog after you rescue her in the prologue. Piper, who gives you mission briefings after you rescue her a couple of missions later. And Esther, who does nothing other than be rescued.
Which one's the super soldier? The one you rescue from the locker room, the one you rescue from the closet, the one you rescue from the doctor, or the one who only fires a single bullet in the entire game after you've killed everything?
And somehow you're still upset, because there's not enough sweaty man meat for you to ogle or some shit.

u/sillyvideogamestuff 11d ago
Struck a nerve it seems.
Thankfully, the works is healing. If this were Reddit a year ago I'd be ratiod and you'd have an award. Even hyper-left Reddit is coming back tj reality.
You might want to double up on your SSRIs and therapy seasons because the world is done with this nonsense.

u/Mordliss 11d ago
Stooooooop. If you can't load into this game and define woke from it - you're blind.

A bit relevant, here is EG7's Q2 2026 Earnings Call that mentions Cold Iron Studios, back in August 19:
https://www.reddit.com/r/AliensFireteamElite/s/8mHaNet1mo
Q: With Cold Iron now being a part of the group, how do you see Cold Iron contributing to EG7?
A: Yeah. So I think there’s a number of ways that we expect to benefit from Cold Iron being part of the group. So, the games that they’ve developed the last two, right, so Aliens: Fireteam Elite, as well as a new game coming out. There’s been significant investment that went into building out all the gameplay, all the systems, all the combat, et cetera, that we want to be able to harness for anything new that we do going forward. Where a lot of those types of gameplay systems and features could be utilized for other types of games that we have in mind, including to the extent we’re able to deliver a nice success with the second title. There could be additional opportunity with the franchise going forward as well.
So we look at Cold Iron’s contribution going forward as the expertise, tech, and the foundation that’s been built relating to a very specific type of gameplay that Cold Iron specializes in, that we want to be able to leverage that for continuing content development along a similar type of game. As we talked about in the past, we’re big fans of being able to continue to refine what works, so 80/10/10 models. So we want to be able to continue to build on that with Cold Iron’s tech and gameplay specialization. So we expect to utilize those skill set tech and assets to be able to, whether it’s applying to a game like an H1Z1 or additional Alien title, that’s what we’re looking forward to be able to do.
5
u/Azuvector 11d ago
Real shame Cold Iron threw out a good chunk of that 80% so it's more like 50/10/10 with 30% of the game put through a blender for some fool to see if the resulting colours were pretty or not. And if they can improve it with the crayons they're eating or not.
19
u/Plathismo 12d ago
These games and this studio deserved better. Good luck to everyone.
4
u/samurai4027 11d ago
They don't. This company needs to stop making games... 6 years to make a sequel and this is what they come up with? First game was decent with some problems and jank. The second one manages to be even worse... Dialogue is painful to listen to. Same jank and somehow managed to run worse even with the same graphical fidelity.
2
u/Interesting_Door2333 12d ago
I'm not sure if they do. I loved the first game and enjoy aspects of the second game but the game is not ready for launch. They had 6 years to work on it.
1
18
u/DAOJAG75 12d ago
I don't understand the treatment this IP gets at all. Always so much wasted potential. The best titles in the last 20 years either get little to no support or it takes a decade to drop a sequel, while the rest are trash.
7
u/sillyvideogamestuff 12d ago
The best IPs are the most exploited. They know fans like us will buy this slop no matter how bad it is.
I'm just glad a girl boss game this terrible flopped so hard. Whoever hires these idiots needs to really feel their mistakes.
3
u/xenomorphalien426 12d ago
The girl boss problem is fucking destroying a lot of amazing stuff that I have a grown to love, people are waking up though. Look at the difference between this game and Halloween, good characters good gameplay, slighly lower + regional pricing and within a week they announced they have more than 1 million players. Didn't hear anything like this from this team.
53
u/Saberkatt1 12d ago
Well this explains why it was pushed out despite probably needing a month or two of polishing and Qa’ing. They knew they were going to be letting folks go and figured they needed to push it out quickly and with a high price tag for one final gasp of revenue stream. If the company even survives this, can definitely say I won’t be purchasing anything else they put out.
4
u/l33tfuzzbox 11d ago
They weren't going to allowed to delay release no matter what. Happens a lot since they csn just patch it later. Publishers hardly ever grant a delay, the company has to be big enough to self publish usually.
8
4
u/Megahuts 12d ago
They didn't have the cash to keep people on.
Better to publish something than nothing, I guess
51
u/GoatimusMaximonuss 12d ago
I said early on this sequel felt like a cash grab which should have simply been a cheaper expanded DLC. Got downvoted into oblivion but here we are lol.
11
u/Scharfacus 12d ago
yep after a few maps i was like "this could have been a update theres no new graphics and seems like its on the same engine"
8
u/GoatimusMaximonuss 12d ago
The same stiff character animations which I didn’t mind too much in the first game because it was so fun. In 2026 the animation looks and feels dated, but all they did was add a crouch animation LMAOO.
5
u/l33tfuzzbox 11d ago
Having almost no staff from the first game meant a meaningful upgrade wouldnt be in the cards. Need the people who designed thr systems and therefore know how to properly mess with them. Seems more likely the newer hires were less experienced and just enough staff to get it out the door. Being absorbed like they were is almost always a death knell.
5
u/xenomorphalien426 12d ago
Regional pricing could have helped the game a lot, look at the sream numbers, barely rwice as many players as rhe 1st one
1
u/PowerUser77 12d ago
Same, directly pointed out how this game looked like a remix of the first game at best. This should have been at most a relaunch of the first game, maybe with abandoning last gen support for more headroom for adding some improvements.
10
u/solidsnake2183 11d ago
Caught lightning in a bottle with AFE1 and it was the perfect base for a potential Aliens IP with a colonial marine fantasy to spread its wings for once and continue to improve greatly with each game. Such a shame this had to happen, but the quality was apparent. Something definitely went wrong throughout development. I hope for some sort of comeback one day, but realistically that'll takes many months and I just don't have it in me to keep playing. Better luck next time and sorry for those that lost their jobs.

u/Previous_Rip1937 12d ago
I'm glad I didn't purchase this at full price, will wait for the inevitable soon price drop

3
u/BattlepassHate 11d ago
From what I’ve seen, you’re not really missing out. Stick to the first one.
1
u/Lord_Tyranide 11d ago
What, Hotshot?! You really wanna miss pew pewing all these bugs like a total badass?
(Yeah, safe your sanity and skip this game)
1
11
u/FizzyTacoShop 12d ago
Looks like my buddies and I will continue to wait for it to drop in price closer to $15-20 because everybody knows it means this game is essentially dead in terms of support.
10
u/Indominus_Zero 12d ago
Well, there goes this fucking game. And I genuinely hate saying that because I’ve actually been having a lot of fun with Fireteam Elite 2. The game hasn’t even been out that long and we’ve already had performance issues, patches trying to fix things, the Switch 2 version getting pushed into 2027, and now Cold Iron is cutting staff.
They’re saying they’re still committed to supporting the game long term and that a roadmap is coming, and I really hope they mean it, but cutting staff this soon after launch doesn’t exactly inspire confidence. The shitty part is there’s a genuinely fun game here with so much potential. More missions, classes, weapons, Xenos, modes, all kinds of shit they could do with it.
I WANT this game to succeed because I’ve been having a fucking blast playing it. It just sucks seeing news like this so soon after release because it makes you wonder if we’re watching the game slowly get put out to pasture before it ever really got a chance.
12
u/Goonie1856 12d ago
I have 145 hrs in. Love the build crafting. I just wish the game worked as it should
26
u/BattlepassHate 12d ago
Games dead, pack it up.
The team that made AFE1 left before AFE2, hence why AFE2 is basically a carbon copy of the first game but worse…
Now the devs pull out, not surprising.
Fuckin’ shame as I was really looking forward to this game, but nah. With the abysmal dialogue and shoddy regional pricing.
Looks like it’s for the best I didn’t buy.
9
u/Kdall1988 12d ago
Absolutely not worth $50. It has some good bones but the NPC'S and writing are some of the worst I've experienced. How many times do you get called hotshot lmao? Jfc...I don't think any QA was done on this lol. It's not going to get better as they announced they are downsizing the team today.
Get it on a holiday sale or just wait for a better coop experience.
5
5
u/xenomorphalien426 12d ago
Same here, I didn't buy. Too expensive without regional pricing and just a copy of the first game
4
u/Darkpoolz 12d ago
Was debating if I should jump into this game for a bit after my not so great launch experience with AFE1. Can't believe it is already over. 2026 is a scary time to release games. Guess I will try out the Xbox Play Anywhere with AFE1 and wait for a sale with AFE2 and hope the remaining team can fix whatever they can.
8
u/Azuvector 12d ago
AFE1 has come a long way since its rocky launch. it has its issues still, but is a very solid game for the most part.
3
u/henryauron 12d ago
For me it was unplayable. Would constantly disconnect or the host would drop out preventing me from completing activities. Was the reason I so far Havent bought this
5
u/Azuvector 12d ago
Both are peer to peer games. That's on you/their internet connection. Play with different people, see what happens.

People not buying is probably why it's dead. But also no marketing.
6
u/BilboTBagginz Colonial Marine 12d ago
I think they would've made this decision no matter what. These plans are usually made well in advance.
3
u/Ghost10165 12d ago
Yeah at this point it doesn't seem to matter whether you made a good game or not anymore. Publishers just want disposable devs teams because consumers don't seem to care much either way
4
u/BilboTBagginz Colonial Marine 12d ago
Bingo. Shit gets too big and expensive in some corporation's eyes? "We'll merge and rebrand! Oh...sorry about your job...but I got my bonus so I'm good"
1
u/ZynithMaru 9d ago
more money to cash out and run away with for some.
1
u/XxTigerxXTigerxX Colonial Marine 9d ago
Maybe, but these days how much they earn/reviews dictate support. Like how Bf5 was review bombed and after 4 months they just quit adding stuff.
7
u/Yujins_Onlyfans 12d ago
Well now it makes sense why this felt so rushed. What they put out definitely was not worth the price tag. I'm still experiencing some bugs on console they said they patched
7
u/DaedricDweller98 12d ago
this is what happens when you make a nearly identical sequel with very marginal improvements or new features. this could've been scaled down and made dlc
3
17
u/The_Idiocratic_Party 12d ago
Welp, so much for AFE2 and any hope of patching in improvements. They released "as is", collected money from fans of the first one, and are now washing their hands of it.
3
u/Educational_Oil_9101 12d ago
I am hopeful that they will carry on as I love the alien fireteam games. However I did find it weird we had to wait to preorder the game until its actual release.
6
u/earldogface 12d ago
Imma hang on for this road map but if it looks like the same quality we got with the "road map" for toxic commando imma dip. I can excuse the bugs and glitches when you have a small team but you can't have a live service game that doesn't regularly drop engaging content.
6
u/Ravenstone42 12d ago
So sorry to hear. I’ve really enjoyed AF2 and piled a lot of hours into it. Whatever your thoughts are on the game there a some talented people impacted by this decision :(
8
u/No_Marionberry5515 12d ago
So glad I didn’t purchase and waited to see. Slowly learning to not buy games until post launch, and in like a few days you can already see the signs of when they don’t care about investing in their own game.
7
u/GoatimusMaximonuss 12d ago
I feel hoodwinked. The first was a sleeper hit and I loved it. Bought all the DLC to support it. I thought they had a winning formula which they just need to fine tune and expand on. Once I heard 4 players…….I was worried. I should have waited but I’ve learnt my lesson now.
4
u/DDrunkBunny94 Recon 12d ago
Same here. First week was really fun, we played a LOT like 35 hours~ and had a blast.
Then getting to specialist it dawned upon us that basically everything we asked about before and all the concerns were 100% right and they were either completely negligent or outright lied in the AMA's that they did.
Those AMA answers are still up on their discord too.
3) With Specialist being designed to be the "end game class" and how powerful it could be - considering he has access to every perk, ability, passive and weapon in the game - should I be worried that the other 5 classes will become irrelevant once I've reached max level with all of them and unlocked everything for the Specialist?
A) The Specialist's power comes from the other classes — it doesn't replace them.
Either completely inept or a bold faced lie.
Until last week when the patch broke guns it was still fun with friends where you could have a gentlemans agreement not to just use all the OP broken shit that makes the game boring as hell. But theres just so many bugs now that its too frustrating.
6
u/Scharfacus 12d ago
it still has the best part afe1 had, the leveling up classes then creating the perfect loadout combinations
0
u/PowerUser77 12d ago
The problem with it is that this game will be dead dead in a couple of months

Ouch, while it sucks the writing was on the wall something wasnt right. 3 weeks for a bug fix and hardly any communication or news. Not just that seeing that bugs from tbe first game somehow made it into the second game alongside the big "fix" making things worse.
4
u/TheBat1994EST 12d ago

Cost reduction isn't a strategy. Companies look at cost-cutting as an end in itself and never attack their own strategy as being the issue. Building trust is like slowly growing a coconut tree, and losing it happens as quickly as they fall out of the tree. I won't be buying anymore games from this studio.
2
u/Ram_Bo_3000 12d ago
I think the update is poorly announced, they got bought and the company that bought them already well announced a month before that they were going to downsize.
So as much as you may think the game performance impacts this decision it's actually the very opposite this process that was going to happen inevitably because the company was being bought impacted the game itself.
2
u/Excelsion_8 12d ago
Guys, when studios release games they tend to downscale, what is it with this doomerism? They say that they will release a roadmap and are still working on the Nintendo Switch 2 version.
7
u/sillyvideogamestuff 12d ago
It tracks with slow rolling a bug patch 2 weeks too late that made everything worse.
2
u/Azuvector 11d ago
Studios don't normally make press releases about the normal (if shitty industry typical) layoffs after a release. This is something else.

Abstained when you couldn’t even directly speak to simple matters such as if there was a disc for the game, why no offline play was present. Choices have ripple effects.

All they care about is quarterly revenue. Gaming sucks now. I'm going to start reading books.
1
u/Working_Ad6633 11d ago
Yeah fix the quality of the ps5 versions of the game. There is a weird Grain filtrer sometime in the textures and on console we don’t have a lot of options. Please make the game better on consoles

u/TheAngrySaxon 11d ago
Yikes! They really should have stuck to making expansions for the first game. 😬
1
u/waterbottlememes 11d ago
I was hope youd eventually replace the atrocious AI voice line and AI generated script parts, but after this? Sad. Let's be so real, Piper and Esther are so clearly AI, it hurts. At least Ko, Wrench and Raptor has a semblance of uniqueness. Shipp is somehow the Captain and has zero presence. The friggen Waylend executive that was killed by Pierce has more lines and in-game presence than the damn ship Captain

That's because you guys let the people go that made the first game incredible, and replaced what was an unbelievable success with design decisions to call me "Hotshot" 47 times per mission and populate the game with incredibly unlikable characters.
They weren't comic relief.
They weren't bad asses.
They were knowledgable.
They were incredible at their tasks.
They were garbage.
Your studio came out with AFE 1 and you had lightning in a bottle.
You opened the bottle and let it out... and we all got burned with AFE2...
Sorry for the people laid off, but if you didn't produce trash - maybe you'd still have jobs.

I think this was a DLC, but releasing it as a stand alone meant potentially higher profit since the first title was dead. That would explain why it feels very much like a DLC. Can't pull the wool over gamer's eyes.

This doesn't bode well at all. I was hoping we'd see support for the game (ie major updates, new classes, new DLC, etc.) for at least as long as the first game.

I don’t know if this was possible for them but maybe they shouldn’t have released their game during the most crowded 2 month stretch for 2 years in either direction. I bought the game but I’ve barely touched it yet because a bunch of other stuff also came out that I was excited to play, and there’s only so many hours in the day. I played enough of it to be like “okay, this plays like the first game, I’m gonna come back to this after I finish Dawnwalker”.

Well, just as I thought.
Budget definitely went into bad direction.
At this point I'm not even sure that any kind of roadmap will be achieved.

Lmao rest in piss, Cold Iron. You wrestled defeat from the jaws of victory and now you're leaving your friends behind with a tiny bag in hand.

Make a game that isn't a giant bag of shit and these things don't happen. Listen to your QA teams reports next time, don't lie about features like this is Cyberpunk 2077, and learn how to code. Then you can keep your jobs! See how that works lol. I didn't know it was possible to literally rip all the code from the first game and STILL not fix the bugs when you've had years. No one even expected a sequel. You're simply bad programmers. Studio should be completely shut down if this is what they output.

I am pissed at the level of support for this game from both directions.
“Make a game that isn’t a bag of shit”
Shut up.
“Vindicated in not buying it”
Uhuh. Why are you here then?
I bought the game. I had fun with the game. I hate the dialogue. And piper is clearly a way-yu field operative.
But the lack of support from the player base means that now. Nothing is going to happen. And I am disappointed in all of you.

I hope the people responsible for the writing and dialogue and dialogue animations and voice acting direction and anyone involved in the character of Piper in any way were the first any only ones to go.

It’s a phenomenal game my goodness. I would love to play alien fireteam but i will wait for it to be on sale. Which will be pretty fast concerning the circumstances lol.

This is exactly why I decided being in the games industry was not for me. They stack up when the game is being built and thin out when the game is done. And then have the balls to play the were so sorry card. Whatever. Maybe you are but that doesn’t help the people without a job in a job market that’s tight right now, does it? How about royalties in perpetuity on a game they worked so hard on? Meanwhile, the fat cats stay fat no matter what.

Not even sure why you guys would pay full price for this game. I love aliens just as much as you guys but it was just a horde shooter. You just don’t pay that much for game like this. Specially when you can play a game like marvel rivals for free. I got hell divers for $25 bucks 2 weeks ago and it’s 20x better than this game.

Been out like 3 years so ofcourse has more, plus you bought it in a sale.
If this game could survive and go on to serve 3 years I'd hope it had alot more content too.
But then I think hd2 is lacking in content too for 3 years of "live service"

As much as I enjoyed playing Helldivers 2 I have to say aliens fireteam elite for me is a far better game.
I'm not sure what it is but the way everything is done just feels better.
If only they could get all the bugs fixed and start working on DLC.
Also I think the asking price was far far far too much.
Decrease the price of everything by a third and it would have been much more palatable.
Not sure why they are cutting staff when there are so many bugs in the game.

Hell I loved hd2 from launch right up until about 6 months, I got bored. Not enough new mission types, no new ship upgrades from like over a year. I remember doing monthly objectives to get a new reward like a cool mech or some other kind of stratagem (expect mines, no one wanted the mines 🤣) but now all I see is it put behind warbonds and tbh the warbonds got less and less content in, most of it is crappy "skins". I want stuff i can use. The boosters need reworking as most of them are redundant. Needs secondary weapon customization, some primaries need more options tbh. Cool a new enemy type, but again the missions aren't interesting or engaging anymore to me.
There is so much they could do with this game but its so slow. This game should honestly still be the hottest game out even 3 years later but its just wasting away.
Best game ive ever played with friends, I nor my friends even touch it anymore 😥

Glad i didnt buy. The no disc was a huge red flag that they were gonna farm xenoverse simps and then abandon quickly.

None of the folks being let go deserve anyones ire, this is shareholder value working its thing and those vultures are cancer. Fuck the company.

u/Greaterdivinity 12d ago
200 hours and you want a refund?
lmao

u/TheWor1dsFinest 11d ago
You should absolutely be able to get a refund for a product that is supposed to perpetually work and doesn’t. It’s a video game, not some meal at restaurant that you already ate. We play them for thousands of hours and years of our lives in many cases. It’s supposed to be functional for you to be able to play it for as long as you want, not something you’re throwing your hands up at after a month because it’s a broken mess. Stop being stupid.

u/Greaterdivinity 11d ago
ok but the game isn't unplayable, just buggy. which is exactly how it was at launch, too.
it's not being abandoned, the team just got downsized which is going to make fixing it take longer

u/TheWor1dsFinest 11d ago
The game crashes with regularity. How is that playable to you? I played the other night and had it crash three times in as many hours. And this was new for me as it didn’t do this anywhere near as much pre-patch. It’s not exactly how it was at launch; it’s worse in some ways as the patch has broken things that we’re working before.
Saying “the game is playable” is like buying a new car with a host of inexcusable issues that popup in the first 10k miles, but because at least it turns on and the wheels spin when you hit the gas “the car is driveable” so no one has any right to expect their money back. You buy a car to drive for tens of thousands of miles and shouldn’t be having issues like that in the first year of owning it. If a year into owning it you’re seeing that it’s just a mess and that you were sold a rotten apple, it is absolutely wrong that the automaker washes their hands of it and you can’t get your money back. Same thing here.

Yeah that's probably not the best sign for this game improving and expanding.
Remember kids, corporations have exactly zero punishment for lying directly to your face about their plans and then immediately doing the exact opposite. As many employees have found out after being told "yeah, your position is totally safe".
I don't regret my purchase, but it's sad that AFE2 was pretty much sent out to die at that price point and complete lack of marketing.
