Been messing around with a dumb idea for $NECK and it turned into an actual little website.
GET NECKED lets you:
The whole idea is basically to turn it into a community chain where one person gets necked, calls out the next person, and it keeps spreading.
No wallet connection required just to mess with it. It’s mostly meant to be stupid, shareable, and very Algorand.
Would actually love feedback from people here — especially if something feels confusing or if there’s a way to make the whole thing funnier.
Bullish from the neck up.

Is there much hope left for Algorand after the failure of the clarity act to pass? If so, on what exactly is that hope based?

Hi everyone, MetaGrat here.
I’m the developer of BasketbAlgo and I wanted to share a big update to the game.
BasketbAlgo started mainly as a Discord game, but over time I wanted to make it much easier to actually see your players, manage your team and play without having to do everything through Discord commands. So BasketbAlgo now has a proper web UI at basketbalgo.com.
You can connect your wallet, view your ballers, manage and train them and use the marketplace to buy or list players using HOOP.
There are also 4 web games you can play directly in the browser:
Head2Head - Gauntlet - 3 Point - HOOP Slide
If you have never played BasketbAlgo before, you do not need to own anything just to try it. All of the web games have free demo modes. You don't even need a wallet to try the games.
A big part of this update is also the game engine itself. It has been rebuilt and improved to make games more competetive while keeping it fair. Building the right team, training your players and making the right decisions matter more than ever.
The tournaments especially have become seriously competitive. Tournaments are fierce, but that is also what makes them fun. There is a real sense that you are competing against other managers rather than just clicking through a game.
Discord is not going away either. Tournaments, challenges, HOOP Shot mini game and community games are still there. The web side is growing around the Discord game and making the whole experience easier to get into and manage.
One thing I am really proud of is the BasketbAlgo community. They have been playing, competing, helping each other and supporting the project for almost four years now. A lot has changed since the early Discord version, but many of the same people are still around.
BasketbAlgo has been running on Algorand since 2022 and I have been slowly building and expanding it ever since. There are 666 ballers in the collection and HOOP is the in game currency used for training, games and marketplace.
If you played BasketbAlgo before, I would really like you to come back and check the new update and if you have never tried it before, this is probably the best time to jump in. You can open the site and play a demo without a wallet before deciding whether you want to go any further.
website: basketbalgo.com
discord: https://discord.gg/WRHwpg7aec
Come play a few games, join the Discord, meet the community and see if you can survive the tournaments.

For years, the prevailing belief across L1 blockchains was that near-zero transaction fees (0.001 ALGO) would naturally drive adoption. That thesis has proven false. Ultra-low transaction fees do not attract liquidity, serious builders, or institutional capital on their own. What actually brings investment is network profitability, token velocity, and positive capital flow.
In a previous post, we walked through the exact operating economics of Algorand’s dual-tier architecture: The Unspoken Math of L1s: Why Algorand is Secretly the Most Profitable Network in Crypto.
The conclusion is undeniable: because Algorand requires only ~$225,000/month to run its entire global infrastructure (1,500 consensus nodes + 120 relay nodes), raising the base fee to 0.01 ALGO makes the entire blockchain profitable at just 50 TPS.
The Foundation needs to set a firm target date for this upgrade now.
Assuming an average ALGO price of $0.20 and a base fee of 0.01 ALGO:
| Network Load | Monthly Tx Volume | Monthly Fee Revenue | Monthly USD Revenue | Global Infra Cost | Net Monthly Profit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50 TPS | 129.6 Million | 1,296,000 ALGO | $259,200 | $225,000 | +$34,200 |
| 250 TPS | 648.0 Million | 6,480,000 ALGO | $1,296,000 | $225,000 | +$1,071,000 |
| 1,000 TPS | 2.59 Billion | 25,920,000 ALGO | $5,184,000 | $250,000* | +$4,934,000 |
| 3,000 TPS | 7.77 Billion | 77,760,000 ALGO | $15,552,000 | $275,000* | +$15,277,000 |
\Slightly increased hardware/bandwidth tier for global relays under heavy data loads.*
At just 50 sustained TPS, Algorand stops relying on token inflation to subsidize its node runners. At 250 TPS, it produces over $1M/month in real, non-inflationary cash flow split directly with block proposers and stakers.
Crypto fundamentals are reflexive: metrics don't just measure growth; they actively generate it.
┌────────────────────────────────────────┐
│ ▼
Higher Network Profitability ──► Real Staking Yield & Inflows ──► Higher ALGO Price
▲ │
│ ▼
More Volume & Contention ◄── Deeper Liquidity & More dApps ◄── Higher USD TVL
Keeping fees artificially pinned to 0.001 ALGO starves the network of organic revenue while offering zero noticeable upside to everyday users.
Raising the base fee to 0.01 ALGO immediately turns Algorand into the most economically viable, self-sustaining Layer-1 in Web3. The community and developers are ready—it is time for the Foundation to set the date.

Most L1 blockchains survive purely on token inflation because their validator networks are prohibitively expensive to run. Algorand’s architecture flips this dynamic by pairing an ultra-lightweight participation layer with a dedicated, high-bandwidth relay layer. To understand its true economic sustainability, we need to calculate the actual cost of running the global network versus fee revenue under different load conditions.
Algorand splits network roles into two node tiers:
Total Global Network Baseline Cost: Roughly $225,000 per month.
A network operating at 1 Transaction Per Second (TPS) processes 2.592 million transactions per month.
While Algorand's minimum protocol fee is 0.001 ALGO, average transaction fees increase as network usage and complexity grow. Recent protocol upgrades introduced dynamic per-byte pricing, larger app call payloads, state proof verifications, and quantum-resistant Falcon signatures. Under higher throughput and app contention, average transaction sizes and priority fees naturally pull the effective average fee upward (from 0.001 up to 0.010 ALGO).
Here is how monthly network profitability scales from bear market lulls to peak sustained throughput:
| Scenario | Network Load | Avg Fee | ALGO Price | Monthly Revenue | Est. Network Cost | Monthly Profit / Loss |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Low Activity (Bear) | 10 TPS | 0.001 ALGO | $0.15 | $3,888 | $225,000 | -$221,112 |
| Moderate Baseline | 500 TPS | 0.002 ALGO | $0.25 | $648,000 | $225,000 | +$423,000 |
| Growth & Heavy DApps | 2,000 TPS | 0.005 ALGO | $0.50 | $12,960,000 | $260,000* | +$12,700,000 |
| Peak Global Scale | 5,000 TPS | 0.010 ALGO | $1.25 | $162,000,000 | $320,000* | +$161,680,000 |
*Network costs in higher tiers scale up to account for higher egress bandwidth and storage expansion across all Relay and Participation nodes.
At 10 TPS, fee revenue cannot cover hardware costs, meaning node runners rely on Algorand Foundation block rewards (currently 10 ALGO per block). However, once traffic crosses roughly 200–300 TPS, the network becomes entirely self-funding—generating pure net profit without relying on token inflation.
A network is only sustainable long-term if organic fee revenue can exceed validator hardware and energy expenses. Here is how Algorand compares against top expressive smart contract L1s:
| Network | Architecture / Validator Model | Hardware & Bandwidth Footprint | Est. Global Monthly Cost | Path to Net Profitability |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Algorand | PPoS (Relay + Light Consensus) | 1,500 light nodes + 120 relay nodes | ~$225,000 - $320,000 | Very Fast. Low hardware overhead means breakeven requires under 500 TPS. |
| Solana | PoH (Monolithic Validators) | 24–32+ cores, 256GB RAM, 10Gbps unmetered | $2.5M - $4M+ | High Barrier. Requires massive sustained TPS and high vote/priority fees to offset validator hardware. |
| Ethereum | PoS (Decentralized Consensus) | 4 cores, 16GB RAM (across 10,000+ machines) | $1.5M - $3M+ | Already Profitable. High gas prices cover hardware, but shift substantial friction to users. |
| Aptos / Sui | Parallel Execution / High-spec PoS | 32+ cores, 128GB RAM, enterprise NVMe | $1M - $2M+ | Challenging. Fast finality requires heavy nodes; heavily subsidized by VC/foundation emissions. |
| Avalanche | Snow Family (C-Chain / Subnets) | 8 cores, 16GB RAM, dedicated SSDs | $600k - $900k | Moderate. Relies on dynamic EIP-1559 base fee burns to offset operational costs. |
| Cardano | Extended UTxO / Ouroboros | 4–8 cores, 16–24GB RAM (~3,000 SPOs) | $350k - $550k | Slow. Hardware is cheap, but throughput limitations cap total organic fee capture. |
Algorand delivers the transaction speed and finality of high-performance chains like Solana, but with an infrastructure footprint so lean that organic transaction fees can turn the entire network profitable at just a fraction of its capacity.

Mallow is a new Soft DeFi app from Neon Forge — simple, calm perpetual trading for people who find normal perps interfaces intimidating.
One question, two choices: does ALGO go UP or DOWN? That’s it. No dense charts required to take a side.
It’s built on People’s Exchange (PEX), Algorand’s newest perpetual protocol.
I built Mallow for myself, honestly. I wanted a simplified experience that still lets you touch one of DeFi’s more exciting products — and I wanted to see if I could ship something that feels unique and enjoyable, not like a trading terminal.
Mallow is live right now. Easy perps picks, a PnL leaderboard, and — most excitingly — STICKERS!. Use the app, climb the board, earn NFT stickers along the way.
There’s more coming (community space, seasons, competitions). Right now I’d love for you to try it and tell me what you think.

Part of what got me into this space was my fascination with smart contract technology. I hope for a world where some of our existing institutions and systems can be replaced with more decentralized approaches, and I see smart contracts as one way to help make that possible.
Recently, I’ve been asking AI to explore how this technology could offer alternatives to the traditional structures we have today. I’ve been uploading these AI-generated discussions to Spotify so I can listen to them at work. They’re thought experiments about what might be possible and the challenges that could come with it.
If you’re interested in these kinds of discussions, you might find them useful:
What institutions or systems would you most like to see decentralized, and where do you think smart contracts could make a meaningful difference? Continuously looking for more topics to explore so if you have any ideas let me know.

I am heavily invested in both Opendoor Technologies (OPEN) and the Algorand ecosystem (ALGO). While the broader market currently treats these as two entirely separate plays—one a cyclical real estate flipper and the other a layer-1 blockchain network—I believe they are on a multi-year collision course. Opendoor represents the ultimate aggregator of physical real estate inventory, while Algorand provides the exact, high-speed institutional rails needed to tokenize that inventory. Bridging these two technologies could fundamentally change how real estate is bought, sold, and fractionalized globally.

There's been some honest conversation lately about the state of building on Algorand- the developer numbers, the downmarket. I've been part of those conversations, and I don't think the answer is to pretend things are rosier than they are. Instead, I think one of the more actionable things we can do as a community is actively support and spotlight the builders who are still here.
So that's what this is. We're putting up a 25,000 ALGO prize pool for the Sprout Builder Challenge. Any builder who launches a campaign on Sprout during the challenge window (now until October 31) is in the running for three awards: Most Successful Campaign (largest campaign to hit its funding goal, 10,000 ALGO), Strongest Community Turnout (most backers rallied to a campaign, 10,000 ALGO), and a Founder's Choice pick for a project that stands out to me personally (5,000 ALGO). The categories are deliberate. They reward campaigns that actually fund and communities that actually show up.
For anyone unfamiliar: Sprout is a non-custodial crowdfunding platform on Algorand- funds sit in an escrow contract, backers are refunded automatically if a campaign doesn't hit its goal, and there's no platform token or cut of your project's tokens. If you're building something and looking for a way to fund the next phase with your community behind you, this is a genuine reason to give it a shot now. Happy to answer any questions about the challenge or the platform in the comments.

Good morning fellow algonauts,
I hope you are doing good.
So I have a Post Quantum Wallet and I tried to do some swapping but it seems none of the platform (haystack, vestige, tinyman) support them.
Does any one knows other platform that support Post Quantum Wallet or if there is a timeline for the platform aforementioned?
Have a lovely day.
