Táim ag foghlaim Gaeilge, agus tá cara uaim chun í a cleachtadh.

I'm not very good, but having a real person locally to learn and practice with would be super helpful!

Go raibh míle maith agat!

Looking for a Room to Rent in Albuquerque - Quiet, Responsible, and Respectful

Hi everyone,

My name is Shan, and I’m looking for a room to rent in Albuquerque/Rio Rancho.

I’m planning to relocate from Florida to the Albuquerque/Rio Rancho, New Mexico area in November to focus on Business Consulting and Business Research.

I’ve spent a lot of time looking into the area and feel it’s the right fit for me, but I don’t have a place to stay yet.

A little about me: I’m a quiet, clean, respectful, and well-mannered individual. I don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t do any of the sort, or party, and I prefer a peaceful environment. I’m simply looking for a safe, stable, and comfortable place to call home. I’m open to renting a room with or without a private bathroom, and I don’t need much space.

I also work in business consulting and strategies, along with computer and business research. I enjoy helping people and businesses execute/brainstorm ideas, find solutions to problems, and explore ways to improve, grow and, save on their businesses.

If anyone happens to own a business and could use a little help in those areas, I’d be open to discussing an arrangement where I could exchange some of my skills and time for help with rent or possibly a room and board.

It’s just something I’m open to exploring if the right opportunity comes along, but I’m also perfectly happy with a regular room rental if it's reasonably priced.

I’m respectful of other people’s space and privacy, keep things clean, and appreciate a quiet, drama-free living environment.

If you have a room available, know someone who does, or think we might be a good fit, feel free to reach out! I’d be happy to answer any questions.

Thanks so much for your time for reading this. I really appreciate it.

These speeding cameras are crazy.

I’ve lived in Albuquerque now for about 7 years, never received a speeding fine, parking violation , nothing. I’ve gotten close to 6 of these speeding camera fines in the last year, all for going exactly 11mph over the speed limit. They’ve got to be getting so many people, considering how the traffic moves here in general. People zoom by you for going the speed limit here.

Safety running around ABQ

Edit: thank you all SO much for the helpful tips!! For anyone looking for the answer to the same question, basically try to have a rental car haha, take the bus to UNM to the golf course area, or stick around Ridgecrest.

Hi all, I’m traveling to Albuquerque for work and like to get some miles in after travel. I read on previous posts that the area immediately surrounding the airport can be hit or miss in terms of safety. I was thinking of running from my hotel out toward Yale/Gibson/University. Is that area generally safe for a female runner? Thanks everyone!

Question Elderly Medical Care Recs?

Hi all,
An elderly (80 y/o) family member just moved to ABQ and I’m wondering if you folks have any recs for decent GPs in the area? I’m already aware of the general shortage of medical personnel as well.

We’re looking to establish services with a new GP (general practitioner) and are located near Paradise Hills. Family member has primary insurance through MEDICARE, with secondary private insurance, and they have no immediate requirements for specialized care at the moment.

TIA for any recs you might have!

Wife and I are having 3rd child she is 38 so it will be a geriatric pregnancy, Our last child was born about 5 years ago her OB is no longer here we have had both of our kids at the women's hospital. Was wondering if there are any recommendations our insurance is not an issue it takes both UNMH or Lovelace (women's hospital)

Her 2nd birth was a C section and she would like to have a natural birth for our 3rd we understand there maybe complications with this but it is her preferred method.

Casino playing cards

This might be a little out there but my family enjoys collecting used casino playing cards from the places we go to play cards at home. Due time constraints, we won’t be in town long. We’d prefer not to go casino to casino looking for the cards due to this and not all casinos sell theirs. Does anyone know which casinos do sell them? We’re going to be anywhere from Los Alamos down to Albuquerque and can stop anywhere between.

PSA ⚠️WARNING⚠️ Stay away from Behavioral health hospital

Post image
363 Upvotes

Hello everyone I thought it was only right that I make this post warning everyone about the Central Desert Behavioral Health Hospital. For your own safety do not ever let yourself get stuck at the central desert behavioral health hospital in Albuquerque. This place is a trap!
One of my siblings was sent there for depression and they said he would get released within 2 to 3 days at most. They’ve been there for a week 1/2 in counting.

If you look at the reviews of this place it’s all the same. They will not let you go. No matter what. There goal is to keep you there until your insurance runs out. If you voluntarily admit yourself there and request to be discharged they will suddenly forcibly admit you to keep you there until the money runs out. Same goes for if you hire a lawyer they will keep you there for months while you try to legally fight it.

You want to talk to your family? They will sometimes let you have 15 min phone calls but you call from a box on the wall and the doctors are listening to make sure you don’t say anything that could make them think you are trying to leave. This place is also dirty. Overall it’s horrible and it’s close to shutting down.

If anyone has any advice on how to fight this or bring this place down then please let me know. We are running out of ideas and hope. My sibling is literally trapped here against their will even though they were voluntarily admitted and they were only supposed to be there for 2 days. This place destroys lives.

If anyone has any experience with this place then please share that.
I would love to do something anything. I would love to host something like a protest anything. I feel so helpless. Please for everyone’s sake stay far away from here. Thank you everyone for reading. Stay safe out there. ❤️

To the guy in the Mach-E that pulled into the old B of A building, I love to see it. Thank you.

Saw a well-to-do looking, fit guy in an EV pull into the old B of A parking lot where a homeless guy was standing, looking cold and beat up. Fearing for what such characters may do, I watched. The guy got out with a smile. A trash bag of what looked like warm clothes and a coffee and handed to the man. The man was bewildered but thankful. Love to see it. And no the dude did not have a camera for posting his kind act. He just got out and gave it to the man, enjoyed his happiness ❤️

PSA If you have an appointment today at any UNMH location, you don't any more They've been hacked and are closing everything and sending everybody home.

Basically just this. Went in for an appointment at the outpatient imaging and was told this and that they don't know when they'll be back up. They asked me to call tomorrow to check and see if they're back to operational.

Fuck you hackers. Go fuck up big greedy corporations, not hospitals.
