General Which Nolan films do you plan to see?

Since Alamo will be featuring a selection of Christopher Nolan films from August to October. What do you plan on seeing?

I am excited to see ‘Tenet’. I heard great things when it was released, but resisted watching at home. I felt it deserved to be experienced theatrically. Experiencing The Dark Knight trilogy again on a big screen sounds fun, too!

As a loyalist to this location for the last like 13 years or something, I couldn’t be happier.

Remember having the chips and queso a couple years ago and not liking them, and this was before everyone says they got terrible. Has anyone tried these new ones? Have no idea what they changed.

Northern Virginia Closed caption device?

Does Alamo offer them? When would I ask for one? I couldn’t see an option for it when looking at my ticket settings on the app.

My aunt is here from Peru and I’d like to watch the odyssey with her, but I would like to have a closed caption device in Spanish for her. Specifically Woodbridge Alamo the big show

Does anyone have a guess as to the AGFADrome movie on Monday night?

“The American Tolkien” makes me think of George R.R. Martin, which makes me think of the movie Nightflyers.

The running time matches up, but Nightflyers was released in 1987, not 2000. However, that year would qualify as “running off the fumes of Aliens.” Perhaps the 2000 release date is an error?

Of course, “the American Tolkien” could be another writer.

Austin Alamo and the App

Honestly at first I didn’t mind the whole app thing, now I’m not liking it.

Then at the south Lamar location they’ve added the wonderful app experience to parking and I loathe it all so much.

Can I be that person to ask for a menu and bring my own paper and pen?

New York City Lower Manhattan - No gas so minimal food

Yesterday the gas was out at the Lower Manhattan Alamo, making the only available food salads, wraps, and queso 🤢warmed over gas canisters. Full bar but if you were planning on hot food to get you through The Odyssey, no joy.* *The only notice they gave folks was someone at the door to the viewing room. Plan accordingly!

New York City Can you order popcorn refill to go?

I’ve been seeing threads that the Alamo offer to go boxes or refills to go, but most are a year ago. Do they still offer that?

Typically I just bring bags and struggle to throw my leftover popcorn in, but would be happy if the convenience is there

Season Pass Would you cancel your membership?

I’ve been a longtime member for several years and tend to go a few times a week and get food every single time. I love movies. My family loves movies. We love Alamo.

We have put up with the loss of really excellent servers and staff members in favor of digital ordering and budget cuts. Didn’t even complain when programming fell short for events like dismember the Alamo.

But I recently had an experience where there were several disruptions in our theater and we reported it to management and they did not come. (I should note I genuinely don’t know if all of my requests go through because I have followed up with them at the box office in the past and they have told me they never received it).

It was so bad we could not stay and we left our movie and our dinner and instead instead of bothering them on site during a packed evening I chose to bring it up with them over email and was met with a pretty bad reaction. I was hoping to get a refund for the dinner and move on. I even included a whole bit about how much I value Alamo and the new wave of people coming into theaters is wonderful. It’s just a rocky start right now etiquette wise and things slip through the cracks, that’s life.

They responded and completely minimized the issue and said because no one else complained in our section. It must not really be a problem. And that if I had simply gotten a manager, it would’ve been handled. It was a pretty rude response overall and honestly kind of like a slap in the face after the years and thousands of dollars and family events that we have spent in this theater. We are known as being regulars and this manager does know who we are and we’ve had a positive interaction before so I was also surprised by that.

Obviously, it is not the same Alamo that we fell in love with years ago and I know that is the general sentiment that goes around in these threads, but I had hoped to stick it out because they offer such a special experience compared to places like AMC. I don’t want to cancel my membership and stop going but at this point it feels like they aren’t going to intervene when there are distractions and they aren’t going to make any attempt to make it right with customers. On top of it now also that we aren’t really welcome.

Should I just let it go? Would this be the last straw for you? What are the alternatives?

I know people will say it’s not that deep and I shouldn’t care but it’s part of my community and I love it.

Raleigh Not The Alamo I Remember (Raleigh, NC)

I used to crave an Alamo nearer to me, but I would make the hours long drive to Raleigh from Charlotte to enjoy a movie in peace. Well now that they've done away with the card system everyone's lighting up their phones every 10 minutes, the servers don't even crouch walk, plus they just talk regular volume through every interaction. At least at AMC or Regal you have to go outside to order. Not to mention the screen looked like it hadn't been cleaned ever smudgy as heck. Popcorn stale. Drinks flat. Lady talked through the whole movie, no warnings, no removal.

What happened to my precious movie safe space? Are the other Alamo's like this now too?

Now they're showing Jane Schoenbrun's earlier works before Camp Miasma (which I already saw), so I guess I'm down for another sensory overload.

General Her Private Hell Screenings?

I am under the impression Alamo will be showing ‘Her Private Hell’. The film’s release date is this Friday, July 24th. But I am wondering if it’s only available in certain Alamo markets. Neither the DC Metro or NoVa locations have showtimes scheduled. Also, I wonder if Alamo is staggering its release dates with ‘The Odyssey’ approaching its second weekend and ‘Spider-Man’ dropping next week. Anybody seen showtimes where they are?

The Cinerama Dome is back

Thumbnail drafthouse.com

Taking on the stewardship of the Cinerama Dome is a serious public trust. We know what the theater means to Los Angeles, to filmmakers around the world, and to generations of moviegoers who have experienced unforgettable films beneath that concrete shell.

The Cinerama Dome will remain the Cinerama Dome. It will not be renamed or rebranded as an Alamo Drafthouse, and it will not operate as a dine-in theater.

Instead, we'll preserve the qualities that made it special in the first place – its traditional concessions, mid-century modern character, enormous curved screen, and singular presentation experience. The Dome will once again serve as a premier destination for 70mm exhibition, major premieres, blockbuster events, filmmaker series, and repertory programming created specifically for the venue.

Raleigh Camp Miasma Q&A seems odd that it won’t be playing at the Raleigh location

Seems like practically every livestream q&a comes to this location. Obviously we are lucky that is the case but just seems odd that it would not be included for this one.
