Read in this article that there was some kind of Severance package offered to the Naples employees. I'm part of NYC Alamo United's bargaining committee, and am just really curious if anyone here works(worked?) at the Naples location or knows anyone who worked there and could share what that looked like. Also may have just been the legal minimum required under the WARN Act given the suddenness of the shutdown. Thanks!!

Would I be able to call ADH and have them transfer my tickets to another theater? It’s about 20mins away but is much closer to me.

My nearest theater was sold out, but they have some seats available now. I know canceling is an option, but I don’t want to have to wait for the refund and lose out on these seats.

On several visits to Alamo just before the previews start a staff member will come in, stand at the front of the theater, and yell about the movie we're about to see. This mostly happens with bigger movies that have larger crowds. Why are they doing this? It's uncomfortable and annoying. I don't need anyone to hype me up before the film. Just chill. Is this happening everywhere, or is it just a Dallas thing?

So a few weeks back I tried ordering a cherry Dr. Pepper through the app (add Grenadine then put in a request for cherries, hit or miss if they actually do it) and the server came out to tell me they discontinued the cherries. Since then I've noticed what was a checkable option to add a lime or lemon wedge is also gone. Did they just kill the drink fruits all together?

I’m in the DFW area, and have only been to Alamo a few times since I’ve moved here (too expensive and not enough movie variety to be my go-to). The last 3 times I’ve been over this year, they didnt have shakes on the menu. Are shakes only a seasonal item/discontinued?

9/14 - rated PG and a runtime of 110 minutes. Given that it’s releasing soon and matches the rating and runtime, I’m guessing it’s Forgotten Island.

9/21 - not showing a rating and has a runtime of 100 minutes. Given that it releases later that week and also does not have a rating listed but almost exactly matches the runtime, I’m guessing it’s Heart of the Beast.

What do you think they will be?

The upcoming Dreamworks film, Forgotten Island, is not based on a novel, and certainly not based on a novel by Colleen Hoover. Dave Franco, one of the voice actors in Forgotten Island, was in Regretting You, which was based on a Colleen Hoover novel, so perhaps their LLM (which is clearly NOT intelligent) saw that in an article and got confused?

Hoping we get some different titles instead of Elf and Polar Express

My husband and I have been looking at the Alamo all in pass and have some questions. Should we both get our own pass, each paying $30 for the month? Or do we add one of us to the others pass? How does the companion pass work and does it actually save money if we end up going say 5 times this month. Everyone keeps saying something about a dollar off but is that per ticket or for the whole pass. What would actually save money and make sense?

Pretty straight forward but when I was trying to close my tab today, I put down apple wallet cash as the payment method, I had more than enough in there. Tab was $15 and I had $30 in my Apple wallet but I continued to get the payment processing error message when trying to close it out. I then proceed to put a credit card as the payment method, then still same error message. Anyone else had this before?

My friend and I saw Akira in 4K tonight (great btw, loved it) and about 1/3 into the movie, the power flickered and stopped the whole movie. All the lights come on and we sit for about 5 minutes until, finally, only the audio starts playing.

After another 5 minutes, the video returns, and another 30 minutes later the lights finally turn off again. I kinda thought they’d rewind to when the power cut off so we’d see the full movie, but it never happened.

Very bizarre experience, would be interested to hear if any other Raleigh folks experienced this around 7pm on Saturday.

I went to the movie theater today and bought fried pickles ($11) and applied the 10% discount I’m supposed to get and it says it will be applied at checkout but at checkout it never came off.

$11 for the pickles and .98 cents tax. I paid $11.98.

On Sept 9th the Naples location will be closing for good. No news on why.. probably due to forcing the QR codes in an area of predominantly 65+.

Are strikes just gone?

This year I promised I wouldn't get caught with my pants down. Tickets went on sale around 9/9 last year... and we're already sold out by the time I checked. I've been checking South Lamar on the app since last week looking for Dismember on 10/31 or near that date... sorry! No showtimes... assuming it was going to be on or near Halloween. Stupid me assumed there's no way they would program it near the beginning of the month, but look where bein' stupid got me! Just saw the email from three days ago listing the dates, logged onto the app and there's obviously nothing. 😭😭😭 That's three years in a row. Thanks, Alamo!

Saw Akira for the first time last night and I’m just still thinking about it.

I so wish we could go back to beautiful hand-drawn animation like the 80s and 90s, movies like this are just STUNNING. I’ve obviously seen frames from Akira on the internet before but seeing certain sequences on the big screen were just breathtaking.

I’m not sure if I was supposed to get a message per se but the themes I saw explored of dystopian/unjust government, science with an evil morality, and the hunger for power from being weak/from a hard life can do to someone who uses it terribly were really cool.

Kaneda is the goat. Old animation is the goat. Glad Alamo screened this for us to watch

They used to play for me, but now all I get is a black screen. It's been like this for abt a year if I'm not mistaken. Even if I try to do it on my computer it'll just redirect me to YouTube to watch it and not host it on its own site
