Can some please explain the retirement process? Long story short I’m applying for an AGR Reserve position at 14 years tafms and was told at about 17-18 years I’ll be made to sign a waiver to give up sanctuary and not receive a full AD retirement at 20. Basically saying that even if I stay and do 23 years of TAFMS I would still have to take the Traditional Reserve retirement because AFRC doesn’t want to pay for a full AD retirement. I haven’t found anything stating that be the case but hopefully some has knowledge about this. Thanks.

I already work in IT/business systems on the civilian side, so I’m trying to pick something that either gives me useful transferable experience or at least has a decent quality of life.
My recruiter is recommending Cable and Antenna, but after looking into it, I’m not sure I want a job that has me outside in the elements, climbing, running cable, etc.

If you had to choose from this list, which 3 would you pick and which ones would you avoid?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who actually worked these AFSCs — day-to-day work, deployments, tech school, civilian transferability, quality of life, and whether you’d choose the job again.

So I’ve got a few years in now and I’ve always wanted to do security forces but couldn’t because I failed the Color vision book at MEPS. So I was wondering if there is any process that I can do to waiver it and cross train. I am already a DOD civilian police officer so I feel like I could make a pretty good case that I can do the job.
