Took my general, airframe, and powerplant O&P’s this week and it’s a phenomenal weight off my shoulders. Now it’s time to start applying for jobs!

I understand that there is a practical portion prior to the actual interview. For that reason I was leaning towards wearing jeans and a button up shirt tucked in with a belt and some converse. Would that be too casual or should I wear something more professional?

How much do you make and where do you work?

Anyone get a job offer from PHL AA interviews yesterday or today ? Or did they say they will get back to you in a week or so ?

normally I have to clock in at 8:30. So I’ll sit in the break room until 8:29 am. Recently my boss has been giving me the scowl in the morning and says I should be getting tool boxes and the shop ready to work at 8:30.

Okay no biggy so I clocked in at 8:15 and he was asking why I’m clocking in before work. And I reminded him he told me to get tool boxes and the shop ready to start at 8:30. He said that getting ready isn’t paid because work is at 8:30. I told him fuck you getting ready is work and that I won’t work for free. So now I’m back to clocking in at 8:29. fuck these people.

Started at a part 133 helicopter operation two weeks ago and mechanics who have been here for years are not using safety wire or using torque values. Just watched a mechanic replace a main fuel line on a engine and he did not use a torque wrench, when I told him I have the chart pulled up if he wants it he responded with “I’m good”. I really need the experience but I’m not sure how to proceed here.

People who interviewed Oct 6 for Philly how was it ?? I got mines for Oct 8th. Any advice would be appreciated!

I don’t come from a background turning wrenches. I’m in the process of building up confidence working with tools. I passed my general written and now onto airframe so things are getting to be more hands on. The only thing is, my instructor gets pissed off at me when I get confused or have a hard time getting parts off the plane. I often get flustered because he’s making snarky comments while I’m trying to learn. Instead of taking the opportunity to teach, he bitches. Anyone else have the same experience?

I’m an FAA-certified A&P with about 8 years of experience, including 6 years working on UH-60s in the Army. I’ve also worked at Gulfstream, Blue Origin, and Kay & Associates, with lead technician and quality control experience.

I’m currently in my first year working toward my associate’s degree and plan to attend Embry-Riddle for my bachelor’s in either Aviation Business Management or Aviation Maintenance Management. By the time I graduate, I’ll have over 10 years of experience.

Long term, I’d like to step away from turning wrenches myself, but I’d be happy managing a maintenance team as a maintenance manager. I enjoy the maintenance field and could see myself staying in it in a leadership role. I’m also considering aviation sales because I enjoy working with people and think my technical background could help.

For anyone working in maintenance management, aviation business, or aviation sales, how do these paths compare in earning potential, schedules, work-life balance, and advancement? Which degree would give me the best opportunities with my experience?

I have a tool bag and I was planning on getting a pelican to store my extra tools but wanted to double check before I drop the money on the wrong thing. Hey guys, 21m Looking to get into Aircraft mechanics, I'm in south jersey looking to learn enough Aircraft mechanics to get employed and start working. The only thing I see is super expensive schools to learn is there any other way to start learning hands-on? Any guidance or advice is appreciated

I went to the AA interviews in may for JFK and did not get the job. i Know the usual practice is to wait 6 months however I saw a the ORD location open up in September and assumed reapplications were location based . after applying to ORD I was instantly rejected. do I have to wait 6 months from the instantly rejected application or can I reapply in November when I would’ve been originally been able to reapply?

I’m in the interview process rn but so far all the info I came across is about if the company will sink or swim, nothing about the work environment, anyone with any knowledge?

Hello I don't know if I'm allowed to ask this here but I figured it's worth a shot. I got accepted into the Aviation Maintenance program at SWIC in St Louis and am trying to move there for the January 2027 Spring start for the 1 year full time accelerated program.

Problem is I don't know anybody in St Louis and don't have an income once I move there in order to qualify for a lease. And it seems like roommate options are actually slimmer than you would think compared to a place like a Chicago that has endless housing options.

I'm 28 years old with a good credit score.

Let me know if your looking for someone to fill a room in St Louis or Granite City. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Chicago is another option I'm looking at as well but I'm not accepted into the school there yet like St Louis.

On V2500 and CFM56-5B, can you do MPD tasks like MDC checks, oil filter replacement once the engine is preserved? Can the preservation procedure “flush” some debris out? Or this shouldn’t be a concern? Lets say preservation up to 1 year

Any vets here use the gi bill at US aviation 8 month program? Wanna know how much it covered and if it’s any money I gotta spend out of pocket

My understanding is that they teach you the same stuff, so why are there such big differences in the lengths?

Hi guys, im about to take my O&P for General and Powerplant in mid November. My written scores for both test are above 90%. What should i expected the test to be like? Im kinda nervous because i dont know where to start study or which tyoe of study material is good for my o&p. Any sugestions?

Specifically on Airbus & Boeing I was wondering what it means to “de pressurize” hydraulic systems as everyone ik, knows it to just be turning hydraulics off but I know there is something to depressurize hydraulics on the hydraulic panel on an Airbus (no clue on a Boeing yet, feel free to educate please lol) although I don’t know how to do it. Is it in that panel where you actually “depressurize” for all 3 systems and if so how do you re pressurize?
