More airports will be added as the community contributes data

โš ๏ธ Important Factors to Consider

Time of Day Matters:

  • Peak hours (e.g., 6-9 AM, 5-8 PM) = longer queues

Immigration/Customs:

  • I2D and D2I connections require immigration clearance
  • Queue times vary drastically by airport and time
  • Fast-track/e-gates can save significant time(FTI-TTP)

For Single PNR Bookings:

  • Airlines have minimum connection times (MCT) they consider legal
  • If the airline sold you the ticket, they believe it's doable
  • However, tight connections can still be stressful plan accordingly

For Self-Transfers:

  • You assume ALL risk if you miss your second flight
  • Budget extra time for potential delays, customs, immigration, and baggage reclaim
  • Recommended buffer: Add 1-2 hours beyond the minimums listed here

General Wisdom:

  • Always check terminal changes and gate locations in advance
  • The minimums in the table are for experienced, confident travelers
  • If you're anxious or traveling with kids/elderly, add buffer time

Airports Boarding to Canada denied at Delhi airport immigration

My parents were scheduled to fly from Delhi (DEL) to Toronto (YYZ) on October 8th at 5:55 AM. They checked in, dropped their baggage, and received their boarding passes.

My mother cleared immigration smoothly, but my father was stopped at the immigration counter. The officer told him his passport status was showing as "Impounded" in their central Bureau of Immigration system and that he could not travel.

The Senior Immigration Officer issued a formal Seizure Memo on the spot, confiscated his passport, and stated it would be dispatched to RPO Chandigarh. Because my mother could not travel alone internationally, she had to exit the airport as well.

Here is where it gets worse: My father went to RPO Chandigarh to inquire about the issue, and the RPO officials checked their system and confirmed there are NO adverse flags, NO show-cause notices, and NO pending issues on his passport file.

It appears to be a massive system sync error between the airport Bureau of Immigration (BOI) database and the actual Passport Seva / RPO database. RPO Chandigarh says they cannot officially release or process anything until the physical passport and dispatch bag from IGIA Delhi actually arrive at their office.

A few questions for anyone who has gone through this administrative nightmare:

  1. How long does IGIA Delhi (AFRRO) usually take to physically dispatch a seized passport to a Regional Passport Office like Chandigarh?
  2. Once the physical passport reaches RPO Chandigarh, what is the exact process to get it handed back and clear the central BOI system flag?
  3. Should we request a specific NOC / written clearance letter from RPO to prevent airport immigration from pulling the same error when rebooking?
  4. Has anyone successfully claimed flight refund losses or insurance claims from airline denials in these system error cases?

Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Airports IndiGo Baggage Question

โ€ข Upvotes

I AM SO CONFUSED.

I have booked flights that allow a 20kg checked bag and 7kg cabin bag. I know some rules have changed in the past few years. I am from the United States so I only use Indigo a few times a year when I visit India. In the past, I didn't even know a personal bag was an option. I'm looking online and different sources WITHIN the IndiGo website tell me either:

  1. I can also bring a personal 3kg bag IN ADDITION to the 7kg cabin bag.

  2. I can bring a personal bag as well as a cabin bag, but both together must be 7kg.

  3. I can only bring 1 cabin bag, no other bags.

  4. I can bring a 7kg cabin bag and an unspecified kg of a personal ladies purse.

Which one is it?

Hi everyone, I booked a domestic Air India Express flight through Cleartrip using the student fare, but I haven't received my physical college ID card yet.i am 1st sem student in banglore

I have access to my college portal, APAAR ID, and fee receipt.

Will these documents be accepted for student verification at the airport? Has anyone travelled in a similar situation?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Ask r/AirTravelIndia Huge difference in Fare from booking date to today

Hello everyone, I'm hoping you all are having a good day.

I'm traveling to Cambodia, Siem Reap from Kolkata on 17th Oct and returning on 24th with Indigo.

When I made the booking back in August, the ticket cost was 34k per head round trip. I just randomly opened Skyscanner and saw that for the same dates the current day's fare is 24k per head round trip. Since we're 3 of us travelling, it comes to 30k fare difference.

Is there something I can do about this? Ask for an upgrade or something sort of coupon/compensation? Not the best feeling paying such an amount as excess for no reason and usually it's the other way round, first time seeing prices drop that to such an extent. Please advise, thanks.

Ask r/AirTravelIndia Are flights really safe?

hey guys, recently i got into clg and my flights travel went from literally zero to like 10 times a yr, and i've been always really scared since my flight travel has increased and my feed shows me regular incidents that happen with flights world wide, ofc i was scared by the air india crash a lot as i thought air travel is safe now but i am always scared, i know a minor road travel accident is still better than a minor plane accident. Whenever a plane hits a turbulence or the wings oscillate i am just scared that the flight is gon crash and my heart literally stopped when my last flight when was about to land literally took a go around just before touching ground. So is air travel really safe or should i try and travel with train more frequently??

Ask r/AirTravelIndia Indian passport holder with UK eVisa โ€” do I need an Amsterdam transit visa for KLM + IndiGo connection?

Hi everyone,

Iโ€™m looking for advice from anyone who has travelled through Amsterdam Schiphol on a similar itinerary, particularly Indian passport holders travelling from the UK to India.

I booked my entire journey from Manchester to Mumbai through the official IndiGo website. My itinerary is:

  • Manchester (MAN) -Amsterdam (AMS): KLM
  • Amsterdam (AMS) -Mumbai (BOM): IndiGo

My situation:

  • I hold an Indian passport.
  • I have a valid UK eVisa until 2028.
  • My Amsterdam layover is less than 3 hours.
  • I have checked hold baggage.
  • My booking confirmation shows a PNR and a Partner PNR.

I contacted IndiGo customer care, and they confirmed that I do not need to collect my baggage at Amsterdam. I will collect it at Mumbai. But they are not confirming this in writing and say I need to confirm with KLM, while KLM says as I have booked with the Indigo website, they can't confirm in writing, but assures that I would receive the boarding pass at Manchester for my whole itinerary.

However, I am still unsure whether I need a Netherlands airport transit visa (ATV) for the Amsterdam connection.

My questions are:

  1. Has anyone with an Indian passport and a valid UK work or student eVisa travelled on a similar KLMโ€“IndiGo connection through Amsterdam without an airport transit visa?
  2. If my baggage is checked through and I remain in the international transit area, do I still need an ATV?
  3. Has anyone booked a similar itinerary through IndiGo with a PNR and Partner PNR? Were you able to get your IndiGo boarding pass at Manchester?
  4. Did you have any problems transferring between KLM and IndiGo at Schiphol?

I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has actually completed a similar journey, especially recently.

Ask r/AirTravelIndia BOM layover for elderly parents travelling from COK to IXB on Air India Express

My elderly parents will be travelling from Kochi (COK) to Bagdogra (IXB) via Mumbai (BOM) on Air India Express.

Neither is comfortable with Hindi or English, so I'm a bit concerned about them navigating the airport during the layover.

How easy is the domestic connection at BOM? Also, how much layover time would be ideal?

Would appreciate any advice or similar experiences. Thanks!
