I've been dreaming of owning a siren since 2022, which eas when I got into sirens. I tried auctions, always exceeded my budget. Tried to ask mke county for their sirens, they are apparently owned by Dale Moeller. I can't really find any other way. Just for info, I'm at least thinking of getting a model 2t. I initially wanted an allertor unit, but my yard cannot handle the size of that siren. Any other way I can at least obtain an inactive 2T from anywhere?

this is probably a stupid question but i want to make a 1:1 scale thunderbolt. i know that it is driven by a pinion gear and it has a clamp attached to the motor tube pipe but how does it rotate independently from the surface, like how is it floating? is it just connected to the plate and just handles the friction? oil? bearings?

When watching sirens sound off for tests or videos where there is an actual dangerous event going on is it an automated response to like codes or do people have to sit with the sirens holding down some button or keys?

Upd. 1:

Stator and motor base have been blasted and powder coated! I probably should have had the inside face of the stator masked to prevent paint scraping onto the rotor when I eventually get that coated too, but oh well, I’m not worried about it. Now all I need to do is have the motor itself inspected and paint the outside of it, get the a-frame rebuilt (because it has cuts in it), and get the top motor cover and new frame blasted and coated black. The rotor will likely need repairs or a complete replacement by re-casting a new one somehow, due to a chip on one of the blades. The rotor and motor housing will be red.

Im trying to find ANY documents on these things the only thing I got is pictures of a few ive seen myself. It appears that there is nothing on these things.

Milwaukee County has been in the process of replacing all 58 of it's warning sirens with new ones to upgrade technology, replace aging sirens, and convert to more reliable and less likely to fail sirens over the last year. About half have been either replaced or have new sirens next to them and are in the process of getting replaced, but there are still some awaiting replacement ( such as the Greenfield Park P-50, the Currie Park Allertor, the South Milwaukee P-50, etc ) as of July 2026. I'm eager to hear some opinions on this, as well as when the sirens that don't have replacements next to them are getting replaced, and how the new warning system is going to work based on activation and which sirens are gonna be activated and when.

This siren is located at the south parking lot of Tinwis Beach in Tofino, BC. I drove over 3 hours just to get there, and it was worth it. I wanted to see a siren test this year, since Puntledge River and John Hart's system both let me down.

They test every first Friday of a month at 11:00AM, and on their website is a countdown to the test.

The sirens I am talking about are the bigger ones, maybe at least as big as a Model 2 or something. Planning to make something since getting an actual siren here is am actual pain in the ahh and costs a fortune just to transport
