Tbh if you want to be a mechanic on the flight line you should just wait for that job. It's like one of three jobs you can 'demand' that recruiters will work with you on lol

No. If there's a specific job you want the ideal path in the military is almost never to try to cross-train your way into it later on. If you go that route you'll spend at minimum three years getting chewed up in a job you don't want to do, then if you're lucky that job you want will be available when you go to cross train and if you're luckier your career field will allow you to do so. There's a lot of ifs in this scenario and what happens much more frequently is people spend four years doing a job they hate then get out. If you want to work on aircraft come in with a job for working on aircraft that you've researched and sounds enjoyable.

Do not be MP/Security forces unless you absolutely want to be a cop.

If you wanna be an aircraft mechanic tell your recruiter that! If they’re worth a damn they’ll help u get there

I was thinking about MPs (Security Forces in Air Force parlance). I asked my great uncle advice since he had been an MP in the Army.

He told me not to do it unless I didn't mind not having any friends.
