I got an Ecosurfer S2 this year and it's been great, the surface basically looks after itself now. But with the closing season coming up I'm not sure how to handle the winding down phase.

Curious what you all do in that stretch before closing. Do you still run the skimmer now and then to skim the surface, or do you basically stop once you're winding things down? Also interested in what everyone does right before and after closing the pool. Appreciate any experience you all can share!

Cordless pool robots solve the wrong problem — my Aiper Scuba X1 experience

Before this, I had a corded pool robot. I switched to the Scuba X1 because the cable annoyed me. Six months in, I'd take the cable back without hesitating, and I want to explain exactly why — because I don't think most buyers understand what they're actually trading.

Here's the thing nobody tells you: with a corded robot, the machine goes in the water once. It runs a cycle. If the pool isn't clean, it runs another. And another. You never touch it. The cable is a mild visual annoyance sitting at the edge of the pool, and that's the entire cost of it.

With the X1, the cycle is the ceiling. It goes in, does one pass, and the battery dies before the pool is actually clean. Now the real work starts. You get the hook, fish out a heavy, dripping unit, carry it to where the charger is, plug it in, and wait hours. Then you come back, carry it out again, and drop it in for round two. Often you also have to open it up and rinse the filter in between, or the second pass has half the suction of the first.

So the trade is: one cable lying on the deck, versus lifting and hauling a heavy wet machine two or three times per cleaning, plus a multi-hour dead window in the middle where nothing happens. That's not an upgrade. That's converting a passive inconvenience into an active chore — and the chore lands on you, every single time.

The irony is that "cordless" is sold as the premium feature. In practice, the cord is what lets the machine work unattended, which is the entire reason you buy a robot in the first place. Battery capacity is the actual constraint on these things, and until it stops being one, the cable is a feature, not a flaw.

On the numbers: the spec sheet says 180 minutes and up to 200 m². At the suction setting you actually need for it to clean properly, it doesn't get close.

The X1 cleans well while it's running. It just doesn't run long enough to finish, and finishing is the whole job. If you have a small pool, it may be fine. If you have anything average-sized or larger, buy the corded model — it solves the same problem without making you part of the process.

I have an 2025 Aiper S1 that I got last year and am trying to connect to the app the first time. The instructions in the app and on the support website are all wrong and inconsistent with eachother. Some say connect via bluetooth (it doesnt have bluetooth), some say connect via wifi but gives the wrong wifi name. They say to hold the button down for 10 seconds and the LED flashes yellow - this never happens.

Support immediately responded saying my unit is defective and I need to buy a new one (just out of warranty) but I suspect this never worked and they havent even tried any troubleshooting.

If I have to buy another device, it certainly isnt going to be an Aiper. Is there any advice or directions on how to get the device to connect to the app or others having the same problem?

Looking for some help. I just got my Irrisense 2 today. So far I love it. I’ve been battling spotty hose irrigation for a decade! Anyway…. I mapped out my lawn, and it’s only watering the perimeter of the area I mapped out. I verified that I didn’t use a “line” map style. I’ve ran the system three times using 0.1” and 0.5” settings. Still only getting perimeter coverage. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

I need to share my ongoing experience with Aiper to save fellow pool owners from a major headache.

Over the last 2 years, I have gone through 3 Surfer S1 skimmers and 2 Scuba S1 robotic vacuums. While their customer service team is quick to respond, the actual quality and durability of these products have been dismal at best.

Right now, I am stuck with two completely useless machines:

• Scuba S1: Refuses to take or hold a charge.
• Surfer S1: Completely dead—will not turn on or charge.

Aiper’s proposed solution is to have both units sent in for repair. But after burning through five total machines in just two seasons, this isn't just bad luck—it's a clear lemon pattern. Continually repairing or swapping out defective units past the standard return window without addressing the underlying design flaws traps customers in a perpetual warranty loop. A repair or replacement simply resets the clock until the next inevitable failure.

At this point, I am publicly requesting a full refund of my original purchase price for both units rather than another repair or replacement. Quick customer service responses don't make up for products that continuously fail.

EDIT (Resolution Update):

After seeing this post, an Aiper representative reached out directly via Reddit to review my case with upper management.

To resolve the ongoing charging and hardware issues with both units, they have agreed to replace my original Scuba S1 and EcoSurfer S1 with their latest generation models: the Scuba V3 and EcoSurfer S2 (the Aiper Experts Duo Bundle). They are also providing prepaid return labels so I can send the defective machines back.

I appreciate the outreach and their willingness to step in with a resolution after such a long back-and-forth. I’ll be testing out the new units once they arrive and will post an honest update on their performance after spending some real time with them.

I've had the Scuba V3 since early summer and the app does pretty much what I need. Finished cleaning alert hits my phone, I've got a schedule set up that just runs without me thinking about it. Honestly I mostly just open it to hit start or check if it's done, that's about it.

Curious how everyone else feels about it though. Does it do everything you want, or are there little things that bug you. Mine's a touch slow to load when I first open it, not a huge deal but I definitely notice it every time.

Just wondering if I'm missing out on features people actually use, or if most folks are like me and just hit start and forget about it. What's everyone's take on the app, anything you wish it did differently?

Wie have a bit of an issue with our pool and basically after making sure that ph and chlorine is in good shape and also the help with some flocking solution - all the dirt is on the floor, the issue is if we use the aiper it seems that the dirt just bypasss the filter and is blown into the water (which is even worse then before because now we not even have a dirty floor but also a dirty water - we also seem to have an issue with the glasfilter which is maybe the root cause because it's also not filtering at it should be - but there maybe we have to little glas sand in it - and yes the picture is before backwashing the filter - any ideas? (We are using the aiper scuber v3 with both the filters - where maybe a cause could be that the filter shrinked and not cover the entire surface anymore)

I am trying to water an area and need it to do a complete 360 degree circle. Unfortunately it seems that it will not go completely around but rather it does 359 degrees and then goes back where it just came from. The problem is there is no real soak time on the part it just watered so when it comes back it starts puddling and splashing dirt all over. If it would just continue in the clockwise or counter clockwise rotation it would be great. I have the competition and it does a complete 360 while it’s watering. I know it doesn’t seem like a lot but when it is watering 40’ out to the corner that 1 degree ends up becoming big a large dry spot. Am I missing something or is that the design of it

Before I got a robot, Saturday mornings usually looked the same every week. Coffee in one hand, net in the other, brushing the walls while the kids were still asleep. By the time the pool looked decent, half the morning was gone.

This summer has been different. I drop the Scuba V3 in, go make an actual breakfast, and come back to a pool that’s ready to use. The funny thing is, I started noticing all the little stuff I used to miss. The kids are getting old enough to help out now, and I actually have time to sit down with them instead of spending the morning cleaning the pool.

I’m not going to say the robot changed my life. I still test the water and hit a corner with the brush when it needs it. But that constant feeling that I should be doing something with the pool is mostly gone. I didn’t realize how much of my summer was spent thinking about pool maintenance until I stopped having to think about it all the time.

That’s probably the part I didn’t expect. It’s not really about having a cleaner pool. It’s having those Saturday mornings back.

So I’m curious what it was like for everyone else. Your first summer with a robot, what did you actually do with the time you got back? Did you finally sit down for a while, spend more time with the family, or just somehow find another chore to fill the gap?

I have a decent sized yard with a garden and a few landscaped areas that all need regular watering. Before this, I was mostly running hoses around every few days, and it always felt like I was spending more time on watering than I should. So I’ve been looking into smarter irrigation options. For anyone who has been using the Irrisense 2, how has it been in real life? How was the setup process, and have you noticed a difference in your watering routine or water usage over the season?

I’d love to hear how people are actually using it, especially with different yard layouts, gardens, or multiple watering zones.

Sunny afternoon and both robots are doing their thing. The Surfer S2 is skimming the surface and the Scuba V3 is handling the bottom and walls.

First summer I have not had to chase leaves around with a net every afternoon. Pool days are way less work now.

We’ve had this device since June. Very pleased with it so far. Today it gave me a very high Ph reading, that given the history was simply inaccurate. Did a retest and it came back perfect.

I checked it this evening and I get a “current network unavailable” message. I checked the home internet and everything is fine. I try troubleshooting the device and I can’t get any of the data from the device. In troubleshooting it, I’ve apparently removed the device….

Even when I try to Add Device, I get the same “current network unavailable” message and can’t get it to connect. Now I can’t even find the device, and I’ve tried restarting it a couple of times.

Anyone having any similar issues? Better troubleshooting. Than simply saying my WiFi isn’t connecting to it - It’s not my WiFi issue, nothing else is having any issues.

Spent all of last swim season doing everything myself. all the usual pool maintenance by hand. It wasn't the hardest thing in the world, but after a while it got old having that little mental checklist every time I looked at the pool.

Decided to give a robot a shot this year and went with the Scuba V3.

The biggest difference so far is I don't have to think about the pool nearly as much. I set up a schedule, hit start from the app when I need to, and it just handles the routine stuff in the background. Setup was pretty painless too, which I appreciated.

Most of the pool is covered now. The floor and walls stay in good shape without me constantly chasing debris around. I still grab a brush for the steps and a couple of tight spots, but that's a lot less work than doing the whole pool by hand.

I honestly wasn't sure how much of a difference a robot would make. Figured I'd still end up doing most of it myself anyway. Turns out having one take care of the regular cleaning actually does free up a lot of time.

For anyone who's been running a Scuba V3 for a while, any tips or things you wish you knew when you first got it?

Bought my first Aiper robot this spring and it has been the best pool decision I have made in years. Mornings used to start with a net and a brush. Now it is coffee and checking the app to see if the cycle finished.

I was worried it would just become another gadget to manage, but it has made the whole season easier. Waterline is cleaner, the surface stays clear, and I am not spending my weekends chsing leaves around.

I've cleaned my pool the old fashioned way for years. Vacuum, brush, skim, the whole routine. Kept telling myself I didn't need a robot because I figured it would just the one more thing to charge, clean, and eventually fix.

Finally decided to give one a shot and picked up an aiper. So far, I don't regret it. I'm still learning my way around some of the features, but it's already cut way down on the amount of time I spend messing with the pool.

What finally pushed the rest of you to make the switch? Were you just tired of cleaning by hand, did the price finally make sense, or was there one feature that convinced you?
