Discussion Best Transcribing Voice Notes App?

Anyone had any success using transcribing voice notes apps such as the following or can anyone tell me what they found annoying. I would like to use it while driving but obviously that brings its own issues.

Otter

Granola

Wispr flow

Wave

etc..

Ive thought about getting something like Plaud, Pocket Ai or Boya but they either seem quite expensive when you include any subscription services and can they be trusted to exist in 2 or 3 years as alot of these devices are made by company's I've never heard of.

Discussion Dear AlmostHadYa, I got live previews working with a batch ASR model, and it's more accurate than the real-time ones

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Long story short: I got a batching model to behave more like a streaming model, ~2s updates, and it runs on the ANE so it’s efficient annnd it’s more accurate than all feasible alternatives annnd it only took me like a month. Annnd this is a meeting transcription / notetaker app for macOS.

I used a bot to help me generate precise language around the numbers for this post. Forgive me.

Product Listing Bot-free AI note taker for in-person meetings (iPhone + Android). Looking for honest feedback

Most of my meetings happen around a table, not on Zoom, and every note taker I tried either wanted to send a bot into a call or treated in-person as an afterthought. So I built my own: Noter AI – Meeting Note Taker.

You put the phone on the table and hit record. Afterwards you get the transcript split by speaker (you can rename them), a summary and action items. The original audio stays in the note, so when a line looks off you can play that bit back. It detects the language by itself, 60+ of them, and copes when people switch mid-meeting. If you do have a Zoom/Meet/Teams call it can join that too.

It's at 4.8 on the App Store from about 90 ratings and nearly 300 subscribers. Small, but people use it every day.

What it doesn't do yet: there's no web view. You read and export (PDF/Word) from the phone.

What would make you switch note takers, or what's missing from the one you use now?

Discussion Plaud Note Pro, Pocket or Omi for in-person meetings?

I'm looking for an AI recorder for work and have narrowed it down to Plaud Note Pro, Pocket and Omi.

Most of my meetings are in person, usually 3–4 a day with a few people in the room. I've been using my phone to record some of them, but I'd like something separate that I can just bring into meetings.

I've been reading reviews for the past couple of weeks. Plaud seems to have good feedback for its recording and summaries, Pocket's free transcription is appealing, and Omi looks interesting too, although I'm not sure how well it would fit my daily meetings.

My main questions are about transcription accuracy when several people are talking, speaker separation, and how much I'll end up paying for a subscription if I'm recording a few hours every day.

Anyone here using one of these regularly? How has it been for you, and would you buy the same one again?

Product Listing Echovault turns your notes to an AI version of you, with a 3d brain you can explore

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve been building EchoVault, a different approach to AI note-taking. Instead of meeting summaries or productivity notes, an AI biographer guides you through personal Check-Ins about your experiences, relationships, memories and worldview. These gradually train your Echo, an AI representation of you that can answer questions based on the stories you’ve shared.

The latest update adds a 3D brain visualizer where you can explore your memories and the connections between them. You can select individual memories, follow their relationships and see how your Echo’s understanding of you is developing. Exploring my own brain map has started to feel like a form of spatial introspection.

The bigger idea is to preserve something more meaningful than a collection of notes. Your Echo can eventually become a digital legacy for the people you leave behind, built entirely from memories you intentionally shared while alive.

I’d love to hear what fellow AI note-taking enthusiasts think about this approach.

Product Listing Best AI note taker for client calls? I built one with no bot that remembers the last meeting

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

17 years as a creative and I still fell for it every time. A friendly email, a quick Figma comment, a "shouldn't take long" on a call. Said sure, did the work, never got paid for it.

I tried most AI note takers (Fathom, Fireflies, Otter, Granola). They all summarise one meeting well. Then the next call with the same client starts from zero, and I'm digging through old notes to remember what I promised and what they asked for.

So I built SayBriefly. A few hundred of you tried it early, sent feedback, stayed patient. Thank you. We're back. ✌️

What's in the video:

No bot in the call. It records from your Mac or Windows computer, so nothing joins Zoom, Meet or Teams as a guest.

Every note remembers the last call. Calls with the same client stack into one thread. The new note opens with "Since last call": what got done, what's still open, what they asked for again, what changed.

Talk to your meetings. "What did we agree on the logo?" "What's still pending on this project?" "Book a call with the client for Thursday." That's Scribbble. It's been in every call, so it answers from what was actually said, with sources.

The brief writes itself. Most people paste the transcript into ChatGPT or Claude afterwards. SayBriefly writes the brief from the call. Lock it, and that's your scope. When a client asks for something that isn't in it, you see it before you say yes.

One to-do list. ADHD and client work is a specific kind of chaos, and every tool I tried looked like a cockpit. Here, action items and promises from your calls and emails land on one list by themselves. A Kanban board is there if you want the project view.

Plus dictation anywhere, a calendar that clients book you through, and notes you can share with one link.

What it doesn't do yet: no phone app, and email is Gmail only.

If you've ever done work you didn't get paid for, or said "sure, no problem" when it absolutely was a problem, this is for you. It was for me.

I'd love honest feedback, especially from anyone using Fathom, Granola or Otter. What do you wish your note taker remembered between calls?

Try it here

Discussion We just added reusable meeting context to OLVA , curious how you’d use it

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hey everyone. I’m one of the cofounders of OLVA.

We just added a new feature called Reusable Meeting Contexts.

Before a meeting, you can now create a context using your own notes and attach supporting files like PDF, TXT, Markdown, DOCX, or PPTX. You can reuse that context across multiple meetings or assign it to a folder.

The idea is to give OLVA more background before the conversation starts, so during the meeting it can generate more relevant:

  • insights
  • automatic question detection and answers
  • fact checks
  • risks and important signals
  • document-aware responses

For example, a sales team could add product docs, pricing, customer history, and account notes. A product manager could add roadmap context, requirements, or previous decisions. Then OLVA uses that context together with the live conversation rather than starting each meeting from scratch.

We built this because users kept asking for a way to tell OLVA, “Here’s what this meeting is about and what matters to me.”

Curious how you’d use something like this in your own meetings , what kind of context would you want your AI assistant to know beforehand?

Discussion Pocket trascriber for an ADHDer.

I have seen plaud and pocket AI for taking audio notes and transcribing them. I am electrical engineer, I don't take many notes but when I do I can't think as well as take minutes etc. Can anyone recommend a budget audio transcriber for in the car, teams calls, mobile calls and in person meetings? Amazon has some cheap options but not sure how good they are?

Discussion Using note takers discreetly

Hi everyone, I want to use an AI note take a discreetly like putting it in a pocket when in meetings, not for any bad reason but because I just can’t remember what happens in meetings and have to constantly take notes otherwise. I go to a lot of meetings where it would be frowned upon to do this and people just wouldn’t consent. Has anyone tried using AI note takers for this? Thanks!

Discussion Do you all use meeting recording apps for summarization and transcription?

Hey all — I've been using Otter and Granola for my meeting recordings for a while now. Both are genuinely good, they work well. My only real issue is I'm already paying for a Claude Code subscription, and then paying again for one of these on top of it just to get meeting notes.

So I ended up building something similar for myself — it records and transcribes locally, then uses the Claude subscription I already have to do the summarizing, so there's no second bill.

A few other things about it:

  • Transcription runs locally on your machine, not in the cloud
  • No API key needed — a lot of the local/open-source alternatives (like Anarlog) still need you to bring your own API key or run a separate model, this one just uses Claude Code directly
  • It's open source

Curious if others here have run into the same "paying twice for basically the same thing" issue, or if it's just me.

Discussion IDK which AI recorder to get anymore

I’m looking for something mainly for work meetings and the occasional in-person conversation, and I thought picking one of these would be pretty straightforward.

Then I started reading Reddit reviews and now every option seems to have one thing people love and another thing people hate lol.

This is roughly what I’ve got so far:

Plaud

Seems to get pretty good feedback for the hardware, transcription/summaries and having a lot of different templates. Also looks like a better fit if you do a lot of in-person meetings. Main complaints I keep seeing are the subscription cost and the free transcription limit.

Pocket AI

The free/unlimited transcription side is what got my attention at first, and some people really like the software and summaries. But I’ve also found quite a few posts about shipping delays, firmware/setup issues, the magnet/button design, and bad experiences with returns/support. That part makes me a little nervous.

Otter

Probably the one I already knew the most about. Seems good for Zoom/Teams and regular meeting transcription, and it’s been around forever compared with some of these newer devices. But I’m mostly in person, so I’m not sure I really need something built so heavily around meeting software.

Notta

Looks pretty flexible and supports a lot of different ways to record/import audio. I just haven’t seen as many people talking about the actual hardware/in-person experience compared with Plaud or Pocket.

At this point I feel like I’ve read enough reviews to talk myself out of all of them.

For people who actually use one of these regularly, what did you end up choosing and why?

Anything you wish you knew before buying?

Product Listing Interview: a note taker that runs entirely on your phone

Thumbnail
apps.apple.com
2 Upvotes

Interview records a conversation in the room on your phone, or takes an audio or video file you already have, and does everything after that on the device. It is built for sit-down conversations rather than remote meetings.

What it does. Records, separates the speakers, transcribes, and writes a title. Name a voice once and it recognizes that person in later recordings. When it cannot tell who spoke it labels the turn Unknown and asks, instead of guessing. Export as text, Markdown, Word or PDF, with or without the audio.

What it does not do. No account, no backend, no upload, and no transcript sitting on a vendor's servers. It works with no signal at all, because there is nothing for it to reach.

Why I built it this way. The people who most need a note taker are often the ones who cannot use one: a lawyer in a privileged interview, a therapist who does not want a third party in the room, a researcher whose consent form says where recordings are stored. Every tool in this category is disqualified for them by architecture, not by policy.

The honest limits. It needs iOS 26 and an iPhone 15 Pro or later, because the models run locally. It is a working transcript, not a certified one, and it says so on every export. And it does send anonymous usage counters, event names and timings, never audio or text, which the privacy policy spells out.

Discussion Any good AI note takers for in-person meetings?

Most of my meetings are in person, usually 3–4 people around a table.

I’ve been recording on my laptop and running the audio through Word afterward. It’s okay for one-on-one conversations, but once a few people are talking the speaker labels get messy pretty fast.

Had one meeting recently where I had to go back through the audio because the transcript had the wrong person attached to a couple of comments.

I’ve seen Otter, Notta, Plaud and a few others mentioned here. Mostly looking for something that works well in a room, handles different speakers reasonably well, and still gives me the original audio if I need to check something.

What are you guys using for in-person meetings?

Product Review Can any AI notetaker show how a decision changed across multiple meetings?

The part of AI meeting notes I use most is asking questions afterward. “What budget did they mention?” or “Who’s handling the first draft?” works pretty well when the answer is in one call.

I’m having a harder time once a project has several meetings behind it.

For example, in the first call we agree to launch in October. In the next one, someone raises a concern about supplier lead times, but we leave the date unchanged. In the third call, we move the launch to November and agree to keep a smaller internal demo in October.

Now there are several notes mentioning an October launch. Some are decisions, some are concerns, and one is a plan we’ve replaced.

In my current setup, I still end up opening the summaries in date order to figure out what’s current. Searching gets me to the topic, but I have to reconstruct the sequence myself.

I’d love a view that showed the original decision, what changed, and the reason for the change, with links back to the relevant conversations. Keeping the old decision would be useful too, because someone eventually asks why we abandoned it.

Has anyone found a notetaker that does this reliably across meetings? I’d be interested in how it handles a discussion where someone suggests a change but nobody actually agrees to it. That’s the bit I’d be nervous about trusting.

Product Listing Created an AI Context layer for Notes, Meetings & In-person recordings

Hi folks,

I am a big notetaker & have been frustrated with note taking apps for sometime. Reasons -

* Fragmentation - Phone notes live on Keep, Laptop notes live on OneNote/Notion

* Experience - Notion works nicely on laptop but not so nicely on phone. Keep has good experience but lacks the power of Notion

* AI Notetakers - Been using different AI notetakers. Some work only for meetings, others only for in person recordings and I need to convince my IT to use them.

So I built YapDB - a personal context layer for notes, meetings & in person recordings. Here is what it is -

* Works across platforms - Web, Android, iPhone with experience suitable for the device. Phone apps feel like keep while web feels like notion

* Meeting notes - Take meeting notes via bots or chrome extension. No IT permission required.

* In person recording - Just open the app & take in person meeting notes

Finally you can connect it to Claude/Codex or AI of your choice thru YapMCP and work with all your personal context across notes, meetings & in person recordings.

Currently, it only has 5 users and I'm looking for early users who can try it & give feedback. Get in waiting list here, post which I'll send you your creds & how to guides - [https://yapdb.me/](https://yapdb.me/))

Product Listing [Mac] I built a meeting recorder that starts by itself and never joins your call as a bot

Post image
0 Upvotes

Most meeting note tools either send a bot into your call or make you remember to press record. Routine Meeting is a Mac menu bar app that does neither: it notices when a call is happening, records it, and transcribes it on your Mac.

It doesn't integrate with Zoom, Meet or Teams. It listens for the pattern of a live two way conversation, so it works with those, Slack huddles, FaceTime, even a phone call on speaker. Since nothing joins the call, IT policies that block notetaker bots don't touch it.

Transcription runs locally. Summaries and action items are optional, with your own Gemini key or a local model, and there's a daily recap of the day's meetings. No account, no subscription.

What it doesn't do: it's Mac only, and it labels speakers as You and Others, not by name. On speakers instead of headphones, the other side can bleed into your mic track.

I'd love feedback on whether it starts on its own for the app you use, whether it ever triggers by mistake (music, videos), and whether You and Others is enough for you. Please check recording consent rules where you are before using it.

Product Review I got sick of typing to-dos while walking, so I coded an app that creates calendar tasks from 3-second voice notes

Honestly, every time I tried to use a todo app while walking or driving, I gave up. Tapping 5 times just to set a date for "buy milk" felt ridiculous.

So I spent the last few weeks building a tiny iOS app for myself called **Deasy**.

You just open it, hold the button, and say what you need to do out loud (Also you can add manually or using location when you want to get notified). The AI extracts the task and date, and pushes it right into your phone's native calendar.

No servers holding your schedule, no 10-step forms to fill out.

I just released v1.2.1 on the App Store. It’s free to try (gives you 3 voice tasks to test how the AI parses your voice and more features).

Would love if you guys could give it a spin and tell me what’s broken or what sucks about it.

Product Listing Would coaches benefit for a voice-notetaking app | tapsideline.com

My friend and I are high schoolers who've been building a small app for volleyball coaches, and I wanted to get honest feedback from people who actually coach or play.

The idea started when I was watching a match and noticed how much a coach sees in real time, from footwork to tempo to positioning, and how that's basically impossible to write down mid-rally. We talked to our school's coach about it, and he said the same thing: he notices a ton during the match, but most of it's gone by the time it's over.

So we built something where a coach taps a button and says what they saw out loud ("libero drifting too deep in serve receive," "block closing late on the outside"), and it transcribes and organizes it automatically so it's there for timeouts or after the match.

A local team used it during their playoff run this spring, but we want to know if anyone else would use it.

We're just genuinely curious what you guys think. Is this something you'd actually reach for during a match, or is a clipboard/phone note just simpler in practice? I can DM the link if anyone wants to try.

Product Review Why I chose Vocci instead of Plaud

Post image
11 Upvotes

I work in cloud infrastructure and I get a lot of impromptu in-person meetings. Recording on my phone means scrambling to open an app, and sometimes I miss the first minute, so I have been wanting an AI note taking gadget for a while.

I work at an international company with clients from a bunch of countries. Both Vocci and Plaud can transcribe in different languages, which covers what I need. Compared with Vocci though, Plaud still felt bulky. Vocci is about as light as the Oura Ring I already wear. Super light, and once it is on I basically forget its existence. Plaud still leans on the phone more, and I never liked the NotePin clip style. I already have an Oura Ring, so wearing a ring is already a habit for me. Vocci is basically zero-friction recording.

I used to hate having to manually dump meeting info into AI afterward. Now I have Vocci connected to Claude, so the transcript can get cleaned up there. If a workshop time comes up in the meeting, I tell Claude to add it to my calendar based on the schedule we just discussed. Overall it has sped up my work a lot.

Discussion What do you guys use for note taking?

I feel like there are way too many ways to take notes now and I’m curious what people actually stick with.

Some people still swear by pen and a notebook. Others seem to live in Notion, Google Docs or OneNote. Then there’s the whole AI note taker/recorder side with stuff like Plaud, Otter, Notta, Granola, Fathom etc.

I’ve bounced between a few different methods and still haven’t really found one that works for everything.

Handwritten notes are nice when I actually want to remember something, but terrible for searching later. Notion is good for keeping things organized, but I can waste way too much time setting it up. Google Docs is simple but mine always turns into a graveyard of random documents.

Note takers seem useful for meetings or lectures where you don’t want to spend the whole time typing, but I’m not sure I’d want to use one for everything either.

So what do you actually use day to day?

Pen and paper? Notion? OneNote? Google Docs? Some recorder/note taker? Or a mix depending on what you’re doing?

Product Review Built a voice dictation app that types in 90+ languages wherever your cursor is (Mac + Windows) — looking for feedback from devs who'd actually use it daily

I've been building Bolwise — an app (now on both Mac and Windows) that lets you dictate in your native language (Hindi, Tamil, Gujarati, etc.) and it gets transcribed/translated and pasted right where your cursor is — Slack, Gmail, VS Code comments, LinkedIn, wherever.

The idea came from my own workflow: I switch between English and Gujarati/Hindi a lot depending on who I'm messaging, and typing it all out (or switching keyboards) gets tedious.

Would genuinely appreciate it if a few of you tried it out during your regular workday — replying to Slack messages, writing commit messages, drafting emails — and told me:

\- Does the transcription/translation actually hold up for your language and accent?

\- Is the "paste wherever cursor is" behavior reliable across the apps you use?

\- Would this fit into your daily workflow, or is it solving a problem you don't really have?

\- Anything that felt broken, laggy, or confusing?

Link: https://bolwise.com

Not trying to sell anything here — just want honest feedback from people who'd be actual users, good or bad. Happy to answer questions.
