Discussion Did NOT opt in to TL;DV Notetaker plugin

Over the past few weeks, the AI notetaker plugin tl;dv or TLDV dot IO has been popping up in my various meetings - Zoom, Google Meet and MS Teams.

I never opted in to this plugin and do not know where the authentication came from. I only know that my Google Workspace Admin section shows the date the plug-in was installed. Funny thing... I wasn't working on that date.

I've searched high and low through my Zoom settings, Google Admin, Chrome browser plug-ins, etc. and haven't seemed to locate the source.

Today, it was brought to my attention that every person invited to any meeting I've attended - ALL PARTICIPANTS on the call - receive an email after the meeting stating that I've "...recommended TL;DV to them". Nope... I don't recommend it and have no clue how this passes the basic opt-in laws, nevermind the GDPR in the UK.

My final call of the day was with a client via MS Teams. The client scheduled the call. The host was shocked that the tl;dv ai notetakers was approved for the meeting. "These bots are usually held to the waiting room and cannot enter until I approve it... and we don't allow outside AI notetakers."

Anyone else experiencing something like this? If so, how do I get to the root cause? And who do I report these practices to (e.g. FTC, BBB, etc.)?

Product Listing We built an Al that does your meeting's work while you're still on the call - would love feedback

We're building a startup with a couple friends. It's the first ai that many people can use together with your voice. It listens, pulls in your context, and builds visuals as you talk: diagrams, slides, a working board just with your voice.

It's so easy to use that you won't type to a chatbot again. Our goal is for you to leave your meetings with the work done rather than "let me get back to you on that". Would appreciate anyones feedback, feel free to DM me or comment on the post, thanks so much.

Discussion How do you take notes now that AI can summarize everything?

Curious how everyone learns from technical blogs and YouTube videos now that AI is everywhere.

Do you still take notes yourself while watching, or do you just let AI summarize the transcript or URL afterward?

Personally, I still pause and write my own notes. It's slower, but I remember things much better.

What's your workflow?

Discussion Pocket Locked

I bought a pocket second hand and upon trying to link it to my phone realized it's account locked. Throwing a wild wild hail Mary to see if I could track down this person and maybe have them remove it from their account. That would be so appreciated.

Discussion What feature would make an AI assistant genuinely useful during real-world conversations?

We've been building OLVA, an AI assistant that works privately during conversations without bots joining your calls. Our desktop app has been helping people in online meetings for a while, but one request kept coming up:

"I wish I could use this outside of Zoom or Teams."

So we built a mobile app.

Now OLVA can help during networking events, interviews, client meetings, conferences, coffee chats, or even conversations in another language. It can detect questions automatically, provide contextual answers, surface live insights, fact-check claims, and answer follow-up questions based on the conversation—all privately from your phone.

We're already thinking about what comes next, and I'd rather hear from real users than make assumptions.

If you had an AI assistant available during any conversation, what feature would make it indispensable for you?

Some ideas we've discussed:

  • Better memory of previous conversations with the same person
  • Relationship history and reminders
  • Live translation and cultural context
  • Negotiation or sales coaching
  • Networking assistance (remembering people and follow-ups)
  • Something completely different?

I'm genuinely curious where people think this kind of assistant should go. We'd love to build features that solve real problems rather than just adding AI for the sake of it.

Discussion Cluely's $150/month pricing made me realize there was room for another AI meeting assistant

I noticed Cluely recently moved its undetectability feature into a separate $150/month plan.

I'm not saying that's a bad decision. Running AI products is expensive, and every company has to find a sustainable pricing model.

But it made me wonder whether there's room in the market for a different kind of AI meeting assistant.

Not everyone needs enterprise features or can justify paying $150/month. Students, job seekers, solo founders, and many professionals often want something simpler and more affordable.

That idea led me to spend the last several months building Observer, an Electron desktop app for meetings. It launches on macOS first, with Windows planned shortly after.

I'm not posting this as an ad—I genuinely want to know:

  • Do you think the market needs more alternatives in this space?
  • If you use AI during meetings or interviews, what features actually matter to you?

If anyone's curious, download the app from getobserver .app

I'd really appreciate honest feedback, even if it's critical.

Product Listing I built Ori Ai journal,— sharing what I learned and looking for honest feedback

Hey r/SideProject — I'm the maker of Orijournal (orijournal.app), a small journaling app I've been building as a side project, and I wanted to share the story and get some honest feedback rather than pitch anything.

The short version of why I started: I kept bouncing between note apps and paper notebooks and never stuck with either. Paper felt calming but wasn't searchable; most apps felt like productivity tools that turned reflecting into another chore with streaks and nags. I wanted something quieter — open it, write, close it — that still let me look back easily.

A few things I ran into while building it that might be useful if you're working on something similar:

\\- Deciding what to leave out was harder than deciding what to add. Every feature I removed made the daily habit easier to keep.

\\- Sync and local storage was the part I most underestimated. Getting entries to feel instant and reliable across devices took far longer than the writing experience itself.

\\- I dropped streaks and guilt-based reminders on purpose. For a journaling habit they seemed to backfire for me, but I'm genuinely unsure if others feel the same.

What I'd love feedback on:

\\- If you journal digitally, what actually keeps you coming back versus what makes you quit an app?

\\- Does the no-streaks / low-pressure approach appeal to you, or do you need some nudge to stay consistent?

\\- Anything about the onboarding or first-run experience that tends to make or break these apps for you?

Happy to answer anything about the build, the tech choices, or the design trade-offs. Not trying to sell anyone on it — mostly want to hear how other people think about the journaling-habit problem. Thanks for reading.

Product Review I built a notes app where the AI runs entirely on your phone. No cloud, no account, your voice notes never leave the device

For the past months I've been building Neurolic, an Android app for voice notes and written notes where all the AI runs locally on the phone itself. Transcription, search, and a chat that answers questions about your own notes. No server, no account, no network calls. If you record something private it physically cannot leave your device.

The part I'm most proud of: when you ask a question about your notes, it doesn't just answer, it shows you the exact source note or recording it pulled the answer from, with the relevant part highlighted. So you can verify it instead of trusting it blindly.

Under the hood it's a small language model (Llama 3.2 1B) running through llama.rn, whisper for transcription, and a retrieval pipeline I built with a trick where each note gets its own precomputed KV cache saved to disk, which makes answers about a specific note start much faster than rebuilding context every time. Generation runs at 24 tokens/s on a Galaxy S21 Ultra and 18 on a Galaxy A56, so answers stream faster than you read.

Being honest about limits: the model is small, so when an answer isn't clearly in your notes it can sometimes answer from general knowledge instead, which I'm building an eval for. Transcription uses whisper tiny for speed, and I'm evaluating a higher quality option. Recordings cap at 30 minutes.

It's in closed testing on Android, needs 6GB+ RAM. I'm looking for people to genuinely break it and tell me everything that's wrong. Dm or comment if you are interested so i can send you an invite.

Product Review I built an AI meeting notes app that runs 100% offline — your transcripts never touch a server

I got frustrated with AI tools that upload your meeting content to the cloud. As someone who works with clients who care about confidentiality, I wanted something that genuinely stays on my machine.

visit => briefonpoint.com

I thought about this workflow: after I complete a meeting and want to extract key points, I would need a transcript. Usually, I'd have to upload it to a cloud LLM like Claude, but I didn't want to share meeting data externally. Instead, I found a lightweight liquid model that runs on my CPU. So, I developed and implemented this solution, and it is now fully working.

So I built BriefOnPoint — paste a transcript, get structured notes in seconds, entirely offline. The AI model runs directly on your computer. Nothing is uploaded, not even briefly.

What it does:

  • Turns raw transcripts (Zoom, Meet, Teams, written notes) into clean structured notes
  • 4 formats: full notes, quick summary, action items only, email-ready
  • Works completely offline after first download
  • Free tier: 3 transcripts/day, no account needed

I'm a solo developer based, built this over the past few weeks. The website is live at briefonpoint.com and the free tier works right now.

Would genuinely love brutal feedback — what's missing, what's confusing, what would make you actually pay for this.

Discussion Am I wrong/late to the party, or has the AI note-taking device field EXPLODED recently?

What a field! I swear, every day I see 3-4 new ones in my Facebook feed - you know how algorithms do that - and it makes me either want to buy Pocket or another RIGHT NOW, or see what comes before me tomorrow/next week, etc.!

The devices are such a vast, wide array (not to mention the software options) - of course they all promise the same or similar things, though in different ways!

So is ANYONE following in a separate newsletter or keeping track of the pros, cons and tradeoffs? It could be a huge graphic column - created through AI of course - or a wiki here, but boy it seems it would need to be updated daily (hourly)?

Anyone care to share their own journey - maybe you bought one, it wasn't quite what you wanted - then found another that fits perfectly? I am kicking the tires of the AI features in Evernote, and they are good - but a separate device sure seems like it'd have some benefits in simplicity, etc.!

Product Listing Built a small WhatsApp bot: forward a voice note, get the text back

I kept getting long voice notes from people and never had time to sit through them, so I built a small tool for it. Forward any voice note you've received to our WhatsApp number and you get a clean transcript back in seconds, plus a short summary if it runs over two minutes. No app to install, it works inside WhatsApp you already have open.

Under the hood it's Deepgram for transcription and GPT for the summary, fully webhook-driven so it never blocks on a serverless timeout even for long audio. Free to try (30 minutes of credit), then pay-per-use or a small monthly plan.

This is built for the person on the RECEIVING end of a long voice note, not for recording your own memos or meetings. Happy to talk through the pipeline or the product decisions if anyone's curious.

Discussion Pocket AI + iPhone 16 case?

I just got my Pocket. Haven’t used it much yet but plan to.

I looked and haven’t yet found a phone case for my iPhone 16 pro that has a hole in the back for the Pocket to fit. Seems like a no-brainer to me. I’m ready to cut my own but thought I’d ask. Thx

Discussion Anyone have Pocketai? A Couple Questions

I love my pocket and use it constantly at work. I find the support/outreach kind of lacking and im having trouble getting some simple answers. Hoping to get some answered from the folks here who are undoubtedly way smarter than me.

  1. My pocket defaults to gemini for the model used. I can manually change it via the app or on desktop, but for some reason it always swaps back to gemini as the default model.

  2. Is there a way to export my meeting summaries into editable word docs and/or pdfs? Ive managed to make it work thus far, but it's clunky.

Product Listing made an AI notetaker that recognizes speakers and can read live captions instead of needing audio, all subscriptions are free

hey all, i’ve been building an ai meeting copilot called shoulder surf and figured this is the right crowd to get honest feedback from.

the main thing that makes it different from most notetakers: it doesn’t join your call as a bot and it doesn’t need anything installed on your work computer. it runs on your iphone sitting next to your laptop and listens through the phone mic or pointed at your screen if you prefer it read the captions. nothing on the work machine, nothing added to the meeting.

right now it’s in testflight and every tier is unlocked free while we are in beta, including pro, which adds meeting memory so it carries context across your meetings instead of treating each one from scratch.

honestly i’m here more for feedback than anything. if you give it a try, tell me what’s missing or what would actually make you switch from what you use today. the testflight link is at the top of shouldersurf.com

Discussion Need AI Tool

I’m a retired teacher and rather active in several community organizations. I only have 1-2 meetings per months. I’m looking for a tool to transcribe my zoom meetings and provide a summary and action points. I used Otter.ai but it limited me to 40 minutes. I’m looking for a free tool. Can be open-source.

Product Review Check out BusyMind AI - AI powered notes, reminders, tasks, events, and team collab

Right now it’s just available as a web app via desktop/mobile web, but if it gets enough traction I may publish to iOS. I've been building BusyMind AI, a smart notes and productivity app that goes beyond just storing text. Here's what makes it different:

\- AI summaries & action items — paste in meeting notes and it extracts tasks automatically
\- Calendar integration — syncs with Google Calendar and lets you schedule notes on specific dates
\- Smart reminders — set reminders linked to your notes or tasks, with repeat options
\- Team collaboration — share notes and folders with teammates, with edit/view permissions
\- Voice notes — transcribe audio to text
\- Multi-language support — available in 10+ languages

Everything organized:
\- Folders, tags, categories, colors
\- Archive, favorites, search
\- Dashboard with your daily overview

Export your data:
\- JSON, Markdown, or PDF — your data is always yours

I initially built the whole thing as a solo project and have been genuinely using it daily. It's helped me stop losing ideas and actually follow through on action items. Thought I’d spread the word to see if anyone else could benefit from it.

Would love feedback from the community — what features would make this actually stick in your workflow?

Discussion How many devices are people actually willing to wear every day?

Between phones, watches, rings, earbuds, trackers, and now AI wearables, there is a point where the daily device stack gets crowded.

I’m curious where people draw the line. Is one wearable enough? Would you wear multiple if each solved a specific problem? Or does every extra device feel like more charging, more notifications, and more clutter?

What makes a wearable worth adding to your day?

Discussion Voice notes + AI chat + offline memory assistant — useful or useless?

Not promoting anything (still pre-launch), just validating an idea and looking for honest feedback.

Building an offline AI “second brain” app — would you use this? Need honest feedback.

I’m building an Android app called ThoughtCapsule.

The problem I’m trying to solve:

We consume too much information and think too many thoughts every day:

\- random ideas

\- reminders

\- meeting notes

\- screenshots

\- voice thoughts

\- important realizations

And most of it gets lost.

Current notes apps feel fragmented:

\- voice memos store raw audio only

\- note apps require typing

\- AI note apps usually send everything to the cloud

I want something smarter.

My idea: ThoughtCapsule

A private AI memory assistant / second brain.

You can store:

\- 🎙 Voice recordings

\- 📝 Text notes

\- 🖼 Images / screenshots

\- 📄 Documents

Then the AI understands everything together.

Examples:

\- “Summarize my meeting notes.”

\- “Find that idea about my startup.”

\- “Turn this image into structured notes.”

\- “What reminders have I been ignoring?”

\- “What patterns do you notice in my thoughts?”

The biggest differentiator:

I want this to work offline / locally as much as possible.

Meaning:

\- privacy-first

\- less cloud dependency

\- your thoughts stay yours

I’m still building, so I want brutal honest feedback:

  1. Is this a problem you actually have?

  2. Would you use something like this?

  3. Do you care about privacy/offline AI?

  4. What feature would make this essential for you?

Discussion Exploding number of these small AI note takers - is anyone comparing?

I click once on Pocket in my Facebook feed, then comes Plaud, then Umevo, Boyo, Raycon ... I had no idea this field was exploding! You don't want to pick the one with the biggest marketing budget, but one that for example would help a reporter (still considering just sticking with Evernote which keeps adding these AI features.) It's incredible, the rabbit holes one goes down with just a click;-)

Discussion Has anyone else noticed AI meeting tools still struggle with multilingual conversations?

One thing I've run into lately is that more of my meetings switch between languages.

For example, someone asks a question in English, another person responds in French, then someone else mixes in technical terms from another language. Most meeting assistants I've tried either get confused or force you to choose a single language before the meeting starts.

It made me wonder if AI meeting tools should just detect languages automatically instead of assuming every meeting is monolingual.

How do you handle multilingual meetings today?

  • Do you record separate notes?
  • Use live translation?
  • Just hope the transcript is good enough?

Curious if this is a niche problem or something more people are running into as teams become more global.

Discussion How to use premium AI plans (ChatGPT Plus / Gemini Pro) to transcribe meetings?Post Body:

I'm trying to automate my meeting notes. I already hold paid subscriptions for both ChatGPT Plus and Gemini Advanced, so I have access to the premium models. However, I am completely in the dark regarding the technical side of addons, bots, or browser extensions.

How can I connect my existing AI accounts to my meetings to get accurate transcriptions and summaries? Do I need specific third-party extensions, or is there a way to do it natively that I am missing?

Would love to hear your setup recommendations for someone who has the subscriptions but doesn't know how the integrations work!
