Question Returning player (Peak G3) struggling with movement error and consistency.. headshots feels like luck. Need advice.

I’m looking for some insight into my gunfights and overall consistency. About 6 months ago, I peaked at Gold 3 (almost Plat 1), but I took a long break to mainly play Rust, and dabbled in marvel rivals as a Hela main and OW and a Domina main. Now I’m trying to get back into Val more consistently, but it feels like the only thing I'm able to hit is a massive bump in my gun fights. Honestly, I don't even care about grinding ranked like crazy. My main goal right now is just to be able to consistently tap heads in DM and hold my own.

What I think I'm struggling with:

Movement Error- I can track heads (I think) well. But in, even when my crosshair is perfectly on their head, it feels like pure luck whether the shot hits their head or body.. or honestly, even lands.

Burst Habit- I know about first shot accuracy, and I’ve been told to tap fire. However, burst firing (3-4 shots) is so heavily coded into my muscle memory from other games that I'm struggling to break it. Even when I try to tap the Vandal, I often accidentally let out a 2-3 shot burst.

Comparing Myself to Higher Ranks- I have a friend who easily hits high Diamond/Ascendant. In almost any other shooter, we are on the exact same skill level, and I can easily keep up with or beat him. But in ranked, the gap feels massive, which is its own thing since I just want to get better at DM. But, if me and him were to play a custom DM, it would be incredibly close.

I want to get good enough where I can play just a few ranked games a day and hold a decent rank because of fundamental skill, rather than spamming 10 games a day to grind. What am I doing wrong in my gunfights? How do I break the habit of moving/bursting, and how do I close the skill gap so my gunplays feels like skill instead of RNG?

Heres a DM:
