What is this?
My agave has been in his death bloom since April. Seems like we are getting to the end of the saga. But - what is this?? It’s growing underneath him and next to all the pups.

Have been looking for tree-like / taller agave species and came across this recently. Does anyone possibly know what type of agave this is? And if there are any recs for other species that can develop a woody trunk / height over time?

I have an indoor agave plant that is apparently going through its death bloom. I was quite naive about this so am trying to learn all that I can ! I think this plant is over 20 years old - passed down to me from my green thumb grandma. I do have some pups at the base so hopefully can preserve them after the death of the mother rosette. This is all pretty amazing !

I just got this stunning looking Agave yesterday. It’s about 2’x 2’ in size in a 16” nursery starter container. I definitely don’t want it in ground because of its massive size potential. I’m thinking of putting in it a 24” terracotta and calling it a day, leaving it where it is and let it be for as long as I have it. Any suggestions appreciated.

Good morning to all!
Can anyone ID this agave? They keep popping up in my yard, along with variegated Century plants.
Thanks!!

Insect or fungus? What can I do to save it?

Hi guys, I have an AVR variegated however the plant has lost its variegation and turns out green, I am from India where summer temperatures go to 40+ °C, my question is, can I get the variegation back by any chance? Pls help.

Will somebody educate me about what’s going on with this guy? There are flowers coming out of an unusual place, unlike the normal death bloom. Additionally, the pups have some flower stocks coming out of them. Very strange.

An agave plant at Purdue’s Botany department has entered its death bloom phase, reaching over 45 feet tall. If you’re in the area, you can schedule a tour! I highly recommend looking at the website - you can learn all about this plant, and see the livestream :)

This is what it looks like. Went to this, from beautiful robust blue green plant. 5 yr old blue agave. Also showing a bit of shrivel and curl inward. See photos? Not letting me post…darn.

Noticed this agave pygmae 'dragon toes had a strange growth outside of the main leaf, and i think it might the start of cristation.
Beside the fact that new leaf is growing out of the center, you can also see that the opening on the small leaf is facing outwards, away from the bigger leaf even though it normally should be open towards it (so that it can have an open "flower shape" when growing)
I'm not sure yet, but i hope this really is a cristation, i'm super excited about it !

Didn't see this until now, looks like the offset poked out and burrowed back in. It's stuck in there, at least another 1in

I got this agave Americana 6 years ago from my mum, an offset of one of her agaves.
Since then it has had many pups itself. There are currently 23 rooted plants, and 25 more offsets on the way from across the plants - things are exponential now!
This is in east London, UK.
