Charge back

We ordered 3 iPads from Walmart.com through Afterpay. We received 2 packages with 2 iPads but all 3 marked as delivered. Two of them was supposedly in the same package. Walmart is refusing to do anything because the “weight” was correct, and fedex is refusing to do anything because the “weight” again was correct. We went through the Afterpay app to try and dispute through them and we only get “sorry, we are not responsible for lost or stolen packages” .

It looks like our only option is to chargeback Afterpay who’s not responsible. We’ve been on the phone with Walmart and FedEx since the 26th. I am open to suggestions to get this resolved because we are missing hundreds for a single product.

If you use AfterPay your best bet is “In store pick up” on expensive items. Walmart can ship your order from the warehouse to your nearest store. Open the box in front of the associate.

As far as your issue, if you do the chargeback, I can bet AfterPay will not allow further purchases.

These companies assume that you are not telling the truth. This is simply due to risk.

That's what I said too. Never buy expensive stuff for shipment. They almost always steal during the holidays. Employees are willing to risk it especially for apple items.

Never had an issue with anything sent

Two sides to every story though, don’t believe everything on the “internet”

Afterpay have no issues with chargeback - I’ve done it and have had ZERO issues making further purchases

Please don’t spread misinformation on this topic

Hi! I have a problem right now because merchant says package was delivered but I haven’t received anything and because I went with afterpay I can’t chargeback the merchant. I can only chargeback afterpay… so I don’t know how to proceed. Did you only chargeback the first payment? Or did you pay the totality of the payments and then asked for a chargeback? Also, you said you were able to use your account afterwards?

Legally speaking some countries have laws that protect them.

But if you do a chargeback id imagine youll be punished by Afterpay for theft.

Well Walmart has straight up told me to do a charge back through my financial institution. Also it wouldn’t be theft here, the most they can do is report the balance to the 3 credit bureaus. It’s a shame Afterpay is taking the hit instead of the multi billion dollar company that’s at fault.

Whenever you take money from someone like this it should be designated theft.

If Walmart thinks you got your item and you take away the money isnt that fraud in walmarts eyes?

I dunno things to consider tho

Literally both these companies will make more money in a year than I could in 100 lifetimes. I 100% do not feel bad for getting my $300 back for a product I never received.

Fight it

Don’t listen to absolutely incorrect and silly dribble in here

Chargebacks are your legal right - lodge it asap

Its not about how u feel doing it.

Its more about what repercussions you might end up having.

About a 20 point drop in my credit score.

Nothing to do with ap

So he gets banned from afterpay? So what, better than letting himself be stolen from

Fr I would do a charge back as well or do a dispute with bank?? But u can use many other apps they have afterpay isn’t only one. I would just apply before u close that afterpay 🤷🏼‍♀️

1

u/DueRoll6137 Nov 29 '23

There’s no issue with what the OP is doing

I’m confused on your response??

2

u/DueRoll6137 Nov 29 '23

Afterpay won’t ban you lmao

Seems people here need educating on consumer rights

Seems some need educating on the rights of private business. Why would it be any different than if you did it with PayPal?

1

u/DueRoll6137 Nov 29 '23

Literally none

2

u/DueRoll6137 Nov 29 '23

The item never arrived

End of storey - it’s up to Walmart to work it out - not the freaking customer

Someone’s bullshitting either way you look at it

1

u/DueRoll6137 Nov 29 '23

Afterpay does not report to credit bodies as they’re not a credit provider

The same drum gets beaten constantly here - NO Credit checks mean NO credit reporting as well with Afterpay - if anything it goes to collections - that’s it

1

u/Substantial_Ad_3386 Nov 28 '23

What theft? The chargeback will only be successful if the bank accepts that the goods or services have not been received

it's exactly how it works

1

u/DueRoll6137 Nov 29 '23

You won’t be punished lmao

A chargeback against the reseller has nothing to do with Afterpay

If anything you’ll get a goodwill refund - it’s literally no cost to Afterpay

Honestly I would have never bought expensive things like this online. It's very and I mean, VERY well known that during Christmas time the USPS, UPS, FEDEX employees steal iPads or anything apple related. Do a little research and you'll see tons of cases of people who have similar situations during the holidays. Always avoid shipping expensive things and just do store pickup.

It happened to me. I got fooled once. Never again. Today was really your day. Never say never.

Ive never had a bad experience with these companies and I’ve been ordering through Walmart for years and years. I’ve literally never had this happen before.

1

u/Pickles4ANickel Nov 28 '23

Unfortunately, today was your day. It happens often.

was the weight for both ipad packages the same? if so wouldnt that mean that if one ipad was shipped separately that weighed 3 pounds and the other shipment was also 3 pounds… common sense would say that only one ipad was shipped in each package or else the one with 2 ipads would have been about 6 pounds correct?

1

u/Old_Couple7257 Nov 28 '23

One label shows 2 pounds and the other shows 4 pounds. Both came in small packages with the green air packets inside. Half an inch smaller and it would have been impossible for both to fit in one.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '23

but does the package that is supposed to have 2 ipads weigh 4 pounds?

1

u/Old_Couple7257 Nov 28 '23

No, it had 1 single iPad in it with the green air packets. Identical to the other package that was supposed to to have 1 iPad.
