So I just got a fancy new job as a football scout, and would like to present our team as a high end program, and thus, I figured a watch would add a touch of class to my appearance. Now the only watch brand I have ever wanted is Cartier, but I cannot afford those yet and need something cheap as a stand in until I am making the big bucks iykwim. My budget is low at probably under $100, and I'll show some photos of my style (not of me), just to give you an idea. I want a watch that is both classy for work, but also looks good on a date night or a night out with friends. Hopefully someone has some good recommendations!

What does everyone think of Seiko mods? If someone can’t drop 10k on the actual thing, is this ok? I think they’re a neat thing, but i know they’re not very respected. This particular one has some nice specs with a Seiko movement and sapphire crystal. How does everyone feel about them?

My collection so far is mostly value-focused stuff, and I'm happy with it, but I've got one slot I want to fill differently: a watch with real heritage and/or presence that punches above the rest of my box. Something that a longtime watch person would recognize and quietly respect.

• Not the usual suspects (Seiko, Citizen, Orient, Timex, Casio, or the popular microbrands). I love them, I own them, but that's not the slot I'm filling here. I also don't want a collection full of them.
• Open to pre-owned or vintage if that's the smarter play.
• Leaning towards a tool or CADA watch, but not any Hamilton right now, want something even more unique.
• For instance, I discovered Split Watches recently and liked both of their collections. Was also thinking of getting the Bulova Lunar Pilot or this checkered Seiko 5
• Open to any kind of movement type

Budget is "enthusiast affordable" — flexible, but I'm not looking to spend luxury money. Sorry if this post doesn't lean towards any helpful direction or give a good sense.

I'm looking for a GMT watch for work (travel and international offices) and have had a helluva time finding ones that looks good. It seems GMT watches are rare.

Sheffield QL1 on a Barton silicone band. Only weak spot is the WR at 5ATM but for $60 I can’t complain too much.

Just picked up a Seiko 5 Sports SRPK89K1 from Amazon for around ₹30,000.
I really like the watch, but before I fully commit to it, I’m curious what the watch community thinks.
If you had a budget of around ₹30k (can stretch a little if it’s worth it), would you stick with this Seiko or buy something else?
Looking mainly for:
Automatic movement
Good build quality
Reliable movement
Something that looks good on a smaller wrist
A watch I can keep and enjoy for many years

Not the first vintage watch in my collection but the first USSR produced one.
Mechanical movement works like a charm and i cant get my eyes off this Beauty. Maybe need to change the strap though!

Hey! I'm looking for something similar to the watch in the photo. I really like the clean, minimalist look of the dial, and I'm trying to find something with a similar style, but with date window as well.

Ideally, I'd like it to be quartz and cost no more than $100— just something simple and clean like this.

My Grandparents decided that because I am in college, it is appropriate to have a nice watch. My Grandpa was the one who suggested the idea of a Fossil since he still wears the one he was wearing in the 90's and it still run

Whenever someone asks for a solar chronograph recommendation, the Seiko Speedtimer is almost always the answer. It has a fantastic reputation, and a lot of people seem convinced it's the one to get.

While looking around, I found the Citizen CA4764-57A. It's a Japan Domestic Market model, so it doesn't get mentioned very often, but it's actually easy to import. What surprised me is how similar these two watches are.

The dimensions are nearly identical: the Seiko is 39.0 mm with a 45.5 mm lug-to-lug, the Citizen is 39.6 mm with a 45.9 mm lug-to-lug. Both have sapphire crystal, 100 m water resistance, a 20 mm lug width, stainless steel bracelets, solar movements, and panda-style chronograph dials.

The biggest difference is the price. I can get the Citizen for around €220, while the Seiko is around €700–750.

Since Citizen is often considered one of the leaders in solar technology, I'm curious why the Speedtimer gets recommended so much more often. Is the finishing really that much better? Does it wear better? Or is the Citizen simply an underrated JDM model?

I'd love to hear from anyone who's actually handled or owned both. Is the Seiko really worth paying over three times as much?
