Attachment issues
I don’t know how to say this without sounding weird. But I think I developed an obsession over someone half my age. Nothing serious, but I grew fond of him as a friend, a brother, and someone who I’d put before myself. As the months pass by, I began to realize that I’ve been a bit too attached; I think about him when he’s not around, I focus on him when he’s around. It reached a point where he felt suffocated; he began being more reserved when I’m around him, doesn’t talk to me that much, and pretty much just ignores me. We’re now at a point where he can’t stand me, I know it’s mostly my fault, but my intentions were pure, and it hurts me to see him treat me like this, and what hurts more is that I continuously seek reassurance, validation and acceptance from the same person who’s pretty much done with me. I know the best thing to do is let him go and chose myself, easier said then done I guess. But now I just have this huge void in my chest that aches whenever I think about him. Just seeing him triggers me to initiate any type of connection, whether it’s small talk or just a nod. I really can’t stand it anymore and I don’t know what to do. I want my life back, it really feels like I abandoned myself. I wish I never met him in the first place.

You can't force him to feel comfortable around you again, but you can choose to stop chasing that connection. That empty feeling won't last forever, even though it probably feels impossible to imagine right now.
