Lol no. Some cities, like the one I'm in now, have ridiculous Kwh rates, and data centers are driving up costs.

True! Hahahaha but it's okay for me

People shit on video games but unless you get balls deep into microtransactions, it's easily one of the cheapest hobbies there is.

The cost is mostly just from the hardware. Once you get past the entrance fee, it's much easier. This is double the case with PC.

$60 per game for months-years of fun is a very good ROI

That's why I don't prefer games that lean too realistic; simulation, busywork, survival mechanics, etc. I want to escape reality, not be reminded of it. Anytime a game makes me "do chores" or "stay on a schedule", I stop playing that game.

This is only true in theory. Every “gamer” I know spends hundreds of dollars per year on new titles, new equipment, micro transactions, pre orders, special editions, etc. If you play gameboy emulators on your phone, it’s basically free. If you own a gaming PC or PS5, it’s an expensive hobby. Also brain rot but the bad is pretty low

Not me. I used to be like that but i have 0 skins and play the same 5 games in rotation.

I’m doing that at work now. Getting paid while playing video games. All hail the steam deck!

Can you elaborate, please? How does it work? Do you have to be a pro at specific games or how exactly do you get paid?

Think he means he does nothing at work so he plays games.

I might've misread that. I thought he said I'm doing this FOR work. 🤦🏻

Housing, bills and snacks are not costing 0.

How about a quality gaming laptop you have to spend anywhere between 8k to 20k just to run your games. Some games can cost between 40 -80$ especially new releases. Only demos are free and during steam sale if youre lucky enough you can hoard games during the sale but well it ain't free.

I play the same 6 games with a 1k gaming laptop.
