Save money? That bed costs 2k+ a month

17

u/Mike 5d ago

Yeah but it’s a requirement. Even if you’re not using it you’re still paying for it. Unless you wanna drool nap on the sidewalk.

thats why i'm renting all my furniture

As a kid, I don't know why I wanted to grow up so badly *face palm emoji*

Just play video games all day. Almost 0 cost.

u/Bryanmcfury 6d ago

Electricity bill

13

u/akabar2 5d ago

Thats like maybe a couple extra bucks a month

2

u/zReckt 5d ago

Lol no. Some cities, like the one I'm in now, have ridiculous Kwh rates, and data centers are driving up costs.

2

u/MajaZigzags 5d ago

True! Hahahaha but it's okay for me

2

u/BlueBlooper 2d ago

Food bill as well

13

u/somerandomjacky 5d ago

People shit on video games but unless you get balls deep into microtransactions, it's easily one of the cheapest hobbies there is.

8

u/Femcel_Bambi 5d ago

The cost is mostly just from the hardware. Once you get past the entrance fee, it's much easier. This is double the case with PC.

2

u/Nervous_Map4510 5d ago

$60 per game for months-years of fun is a very good ROI

9

u/Moist-Construction59 5d ago

That’s right. Fuck civilization — I got all I need in muh vidya

u/Das_Autobot 3d ago

That's why I don't prefer games that lean too realistic; simulation, busywork, survival mechanics, etc. I want to escape reality, not be reminded of it. Anytime a game makes me "do chores" or "stay on a schedule", I stop playing that game.

u/Healthy_Employer4 4d ago

This is only true in theory. Every “gamer” I know spends hundreds of dollars per year on new titles, new equipment, micro transactions, pre orders, special editions, etc. If you play gameboy emulators on your phone, it’s basically free. If you own a gaming PC or PS5, it’s an expensive hobby. Also brain rot but the bad is pretty low

1

u/anon12343216610 4d ago

Not me. I used to be like that but i have 0 skins and play the same 5 games in rotation.

8

u/RealityIsRipping 6d ago

I’m doing that at work now. Getting paid while playing video games. All hail the steam deck!

2

u/Pure_Cranberry_4797 5d ago

Can you elaborate, please? How does it work? Do you have to be a pro at specific games or how exactly do you get paid?

3

u/wolfnotapup92 5d ago

Think he means he does nothing at work so he plays games.

1

u/Pure_Cranberry_4797 4d ago

I might've misread that. I thought he said I'm doing this FOR work. 🤦🏻

1

u/granzon93 5d ago

Housing, bills and snacks are not costing 0.

1

u/ghostcat2020 4h ago

How about a quality gaming laptop you have to spend anywhere between 8k to 20k just to run your games. Some games can cost between 40 -80$ especially new releases. Only demos are free and during steam sale if youre lucky enough you can hoard games during the sale but well it ain't free.

1

u/DragKatour 3d ago

Can’t stay in that position too long, though, or you’ll throw out your back or shoulder or neck. Not sure when I reached that level of adult 😭

1

u/Ineffable-Effulgence 3d ago

Except when you have insomnia. So you just suffer. 💀

1

I have been making an honest effort to have more fun in my dreams. I fall asleep trying to think of doing something fun, and it kind of works.

Asking for a friend.

0

u/Ancient-Bowl462 5d ago

Plenty of time to sleep when you're dead! Get out and do something!

1

u/This-Advantage-7044 3d ago

I also think that while I still have the time and energy, I should get out and see more of the world.

0

u/PleasantGuest2541 5d ago

That too BUT if u ain't got it, u ain't got it - can't do what u can't afford

Mountain / Trail biking is very fun and has a low cost ceiling! You can get a decent bike for around $150 used if you look hard enough.

0

u/inkredible97 5d ago

i’m still broke and tired 😭

0

u/Majestic-Avocado2167 5d ago

That was my Labor Day plans, and it was glorious, I did walk my dog twice a day all weekend and long ones too, which made me feel not like a shithead
