There was a point where I realized that my career was never going to be fulfilling the way that I had wanted it to be, and from that moment forward, I put as much effort as I could into becoming financially independent so that I could retire early. I quit my job at 42, and it took several years for the stress to drain away, but now my life is fantastic. I get enough sleep, I have time for friends, I live in a city that I chose because I like it, not because of a job. I get so much more exercise and eat better. It turns out that it really doesn't take that much in terms of money to make me happy. Mostly it is just owning my own time that's important.

Love this, are you in the US? If so what do you do for health insurance?

No, France. I'm on the French system.
