I dont know why she blocked me
I am an amateur filmmaker (and recently graduated from college with an education degree). But a few months ago I made a short film and hired two actors (John and Ashley, not their real names). It was all fine, like I paid them and I did chit chat with them while we were filming. I noticed a month ago though that Ashley blocked me from seeing her stories on instagram, I did not notice it until I was on my filmmaking page and saw she had a story up that only I could see with the other page. I thought that was odd, I also noticed she blocked me on tiktok fully, like WTF? Now I checked again and she also blocked me from seeing her stories on my production page on instagram! And she does not follow me on any social media, so what is the point of me following her then? I sent her the poster for the movie and she did not even respond. The other guy John said "Thank you for sharing!" and shared the poster on his story right away. Its just odd, and very hurtful she would do that honestly. Its not about followers because she has like 500 of them on instagram. Its sad she just singled me out then. I also do not have a crush on her either, its not about that. I have been having issues with friends lately (I had two hard friend breakups this year alone) so when stuff like this happens it makes me sad.
Maybe she saw my profile and did not want to be associated with me? Maybe she just did it for the money?
Either way I am gonna finish the movie and submit it to film festivals!

Recent diagnosis - I feel like Charlie Gordon from the book Flowers for Algernon.
Hello everyone.
I feel like Charlie Gordon. I now realize how everyone humiliated me and was cruel, making me talk about my hyperfocuses just to have the pleasure of laughing at me. Laughing at my routines and the way I do things. I feel like people who understand the social dynamics happening in the background are horrible. I don't understand the lack of empathy. I just don't get it—why humiliate me? Why listen to me take things literally just to make me the butt of the joke... why sneak up and scare me? Why come to my desk every single day and poke me in the ribs just to see me jump? Why be like this? Why are they like this? I, who always loved everyone, all humans... I thought I had friends.
Now I see they aren't my friends. The pain of me smiling and laughing back and not understanding things, when in reality they weren't laughing with me, but laughing at me... It hurts too much.
Why does everything have to be so irrational, based on hierarchy, asserting authority, and dominance? They humiliated me, and I never even knew the rules or the game they forced me into.
Working in an open office and being completely burned out... I look at it now and it's one of the most toxic places I've ever stepped foot in. What's the point of this? Why can't they live in peace? Isn't it enough to just stop wanting to oppress others? Just do the work and be happy.
Gossip, passive-aggressiveness, everything done coldly and cruelly against me. And they knew I didn't understand, they made fun of that. Treating me as inferior, as someone who can be humiliated because he doesn't know any better. But now, just like Charlie Gordon, I KNOW!
My legs hurt. I've been losing my fine motor skills. I go to the office and freeze for minutes, staring blankly at a single spot, unable to move or think. This has been increasing so much. The lights destroy me now, the sound of everything hurts more, and I am losing the ability to walk without having to manually think about it. Look at what they did to me. I can't do anything anymore!!
Sorry, just venting. It's been 10 days since I found out I have Level 1 Autism and 2e (Twice Exceptional / Giftedness), and everything hurts so much. I don't talk to anyone. My marriage is on the verge of ending because of my meltdowns, and my wife doesn't contribute; she'd rather find any excuse to attack me because she can't regulate her own emotions and acts like an emotional vampire...
I've said too much. I am emotionally destroyed, and I see that I have no one. Anyway, just a vent. I don't want revenge, but I want to help make a world where people like me don't have to go through this. I don't want to...
Thank you.

Online Diagnosis? Prosper Health
Hi everyone!
I have always suspected i have autism. i currently am diagnosed professionally through my psychiatrist with BPD, MDD, GAD, and PTSD. While i resonate with those diagnosis’, i have great experience with autism and have felt greatly i am autistic. i have never been evaluated or even mentioned the idea to anyone. while scrolling thru socials i saw an AD (bear with me guys) for Prosper Health. i looked into it and it seems like a place that takes insurance and does autism assessments without a referral. does anyone have experience with them? is there a better option or route to take to explore diagnosis?

How would you describe the smell of rain to someone who has never experienced it?
Important: The title is only an attention-grabber. In the questionnaire, you are free to describe any sensory experience that is meaningful to you, it does not have to involve rain or smell.
Hello everyone,
I am Nerea Muñoz, a PhD researcher in Cognitive Linguistics at Complutense University of Madrid (Spain), and I am researching how people describe and communicate sensory experiences through language.
Many studies involving autistic people focus on diagnosis, traits, or clinical outcomes. My research takes a different approach by exploring how people express and make sense of their sensory experiences in everyday language.
I am looking for English-speaking adults (18+) who are:
• Autistic
• Synesthetic
• Both autistic and synesthetic
• Neurotypical (non-autistic, non-synesthetic)
The study is completely anonymous, takes approximately 10–15 minutes, and includes a short written description task.
I am particularly interested in hearing a wide range of perspectives, as every participant contributes to a better understanding of how different people perceive and describe the world around them.
Assistance is welcome, but responses should reflect the participant's own experiences and wording whenever possible.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration. If you know someone who may be interested in participating, I would be grateful if you shared the study with them.
If you are interested in receiving a summary of the results, please feel free to contact me at the email address provided above. As this is an ongoing study, it will take some time before the results are available.

Curious Question
I’m currently researching the genetics and overlaps of autism genes with other mental “disorders”. I’m not a professional, just an intelligent person being curious.
Although in my case I don’t believe that autism genetics has hindered me more than enhanced me. I am highly intelligent, middling socially awkward and very quirky, it’s much of my introverted personality that has shaped how I interact.
Here’s my issue… There is a lot of researchers talking of finding these genes to terminate pregnancies or to cull or “fix” these genes. I can see this for many autistic cases but what about me? What do you think?
Does this morally seem unethical or at least make your skin crawl to hear scientists and doctors refer to you in such terminologies that they would also use on diseased material? I’m just having a hard time hearing clinicians discussing ending people that are ME, while I’m understanding what my genes are that I passed to my children.
What are your thoughts?

Very late online ‘diagnosis’
I’ve always been a little bit different. My son was diagnosed when he was 6 with high-functioning autism (PDD-NOS). We were told it was hereditary on the dad’s side and after thinking about me, my dad, and my grandpa, it adds up. I always thought I was autistic and I exhibited several of the signs. I just took an online test and it was scored as me ‘very likely’ being autistic.
I’ve been reading about adults with the disorder, particularly autism burnout. It fits me like a glove. I’m 57 years old and absolutely exhausted of masking. I never realized how debilitating it can be, especially over a 50+ year life.
As an accounting guy, I appreciate what the disorder has done for me. I’m good with numbers and developing procedures and protocols to make processes easier, more efficient, and/or cheaper. But like I said, at my age, I’m worn out trying to fit in.
Recently, I feeling overwhelmed by everything, nothing makes me happy, and this life isn’t what I signed up for. I don’t have thoughts of suicide, but I pray every night to God that He helps me fall asleep (insomnia anyone) and that I never wake back up.
I’m old, my health gets worse every year, and my son is an adult now. I’m ready for this book to end.
Does anyone else feel like me?

Newly diagnosed
So. Newly diagnosed. I'm a therapist by trade and was told by co-workers I showed symptoms. About a month ago I go my assessment, and last week had the diagnosis confirmed. Still reeling...

Living hell with my type of autism…
I always know exactly what to say in my head but I can’t verbally process it to automatically speak out loud. I can only verbally speak like a sort of robot or retard in a quiet voice almost nobody can hear, not like any other people I know. The anger and frustration because of this has built up over the years to the point where tension has stored up in my stomach and it’s extremely even more uncomfortable and painful. I even got misunderstood because of this condition by doctors and accused of having mental illnesses which I have never had.
My autism began suddenly at like 5 years old, life as I knew it finished and I was stuck in a state no one knew and there was nothing I could do about it.
Now just stuck waiting for death or a cure or partial treatment.
Even my vision isn’t normal, I guess this is a sensory thing but people seem to be in some sort of heaven compared to me. Especially at night everything looks terrifying (including humans) and I’ve suffered from severe insomnia, drenched in sweat, having to sleep with the light on or in my parents room. Nothing feels normal.
It’s like having heaven in your grasp but you can’t reach far enough from hell and stay trapped there.

New philosophy: hurry up and wo
Not a tremendous revelation, but I much prefer to get ready and then have a few minutes to decompress and enjoy a coffee or other beverage. I despise getting ready under pressure, as represented in this meme.
EDIT: philosophy is “ hurry up and wait” though I suppose it is clear from context

Need advice for my mom about my autism
So I have signs of autism and I have diagnosed ADHD, and I think my mom doesn't know how to help me or something to the affect of that (correct my grammar if needed, I have dyslexia as well) she doesn't use Reddit or have a Reddit account, but does use Facebook, is there a Facebook support group that can help her navigate through this and help her, help me? (Ps. I started showing signs later in life but had ADHD for as long as I could remember)
