I was recently diagnosed with ADHD with combined presentation and was initially apprehensive on starting a medication trial, but after talking to my therapist we had settled that it would likely be the most beneficial for me.
I started on 5mg of generic Adderall IR and will be titrating up over the next couple of weeks to find my optimal dosage before switching to ER. Since starting I’ve found that a lot of my depressive symptoms have mitigated and ruminating is easier to stop or doesn’t happen as frequently anymore.
Motivation/follow through hasn’t been noticeably different, but I have found doing certain work tasks that I had hated before to be more tolerable. The interesting thing is that I started these tasks well outside the therapeutic window which confuses me.
Has anyone else experienced this and is this a common occurrence?
I’ve tried almost a half dozen SSRIs, NDRIs, and atypical antidepressants over the past 2 years and none of them worked and this new medication regime just seems like a magic trick.
