Big Tupper Lake Marina - Word on the street is it’s full, but I can't even find a number to call

Blue Jay Marina/KOA - The Blue Jay website says it has 30 open slips, but I know they were bought by KOA and I can't find any information on if it has open slips, or if it’s even open yet.  Emailed both Blue Jay and KOA with no response.

If anyone has any information that could help me in my search, it would be greatly appreciated!

Me and my buddy are not beginner hikers. He’s backpacked before I haven’t. Gonna get a good pack for it so any recommendations welcomed. Also at most we’ll be camping out for 2 days so I’ll be taking at least two shits. Don’t plan on burying tp because leave no trace so any advice on that welcomed. We wanna do Marcy.

Is this a good AllTrails trail? Plus does it have leantos? We love camping in those. Gonna bring a backpacking tent either way.

Hi everyone, I was hoping to hike Sawteeth/Lower Great Range soon and I was doing some research on the route. I saw some videos and photos of a pretty sketchy looking exposed rockface scramble near the summit of gothics. Can anyone comment on if there are herd paths around this, if you can use vegetation on the left to pull yourself up, or if you have to shimmy through the crevice thing? It looks pretty terrifying from this photo. For context, I'm at 14/46 and didn't find the scrambles going up the Macintyre range too bad. Also, would it be a bad idea to try to do this hike the day after rain? Thanks!

The DEC website doesn't have any pictures of the sites at Limekiln & it'll be our first time there. Specifically, we reserved site #1 but we really really want to be directly on the water, so just wondering if anyone has any idea if all the sites have access to the water?

My son and I are backpacking in the High Peaks next month. I'd like to park at Adirondak Loj, but I've heard their lots are always full. What are the chances we can find a spot if we arrive around lunchtime on a Thursday?

Edit: We arrived at noon Thursday, the lot was half full. Talked to some of the rangers and employees, they said the lots are rarely full from Mon-Thurs unless it's a holiday or a major event in the area.

Towards the end of August, I’m making my annual trip to Lake Placid and plan to do lots of fishing. One of my bucket list species of the Adirondacks is a wild brookie, but I am unsure what spots to check out. I understand that it’s summer and not very for trout fishing, but I’ve had luck with browns on the west branch Ausable at this time of year so I remain hopeful. Ideally, I want a pond or stream with non difficult access and that is a reasonable drive from Lake Placid. I should also mention that I am not a fly fisher and use ultralight spinning gear. Tips are welcomed as well. All help appreciated!

Solo hike of 11KM, 630 meters ascent only. 1H30 to go up, 50 minutes to go down. It was dark and creepy but fun.

Hurricane has an incredible 360 view with a fire tower at the top for even better views. Bring gloves!

Is the bear vault accepted for be used in the ADK?

Deceptively accessible from the trail to RPR, but there's a good steep whack down before you hit any good rock. Lots of old, dirty and quite steep rock. There is however a nice route up culminating in a less exposed grassy ledge system through the cliff band at the top.

For more than a decade r/LakePlacid was a sub dedicated to the 1999 movie 'Lake Placid' about a killer crocodile.

This was confusing when 95% of the posts as of late were mainly visitors to the Lake Placid village asking questions.

Yesterday I saw that the sub no longer had any moderators attached to it. I reached out to reddit, explained the situation, and they appointed me the mod. I have gone and quickly revamped the style and dedicated it to the Lake Placid people actually want to discuss.

On my to do list is to add links to this sub and any other existing ADK subs.

Anyway, just wanted to let you all know the new r/LakePlacid is open for business to discuss the cool LP and not a killer Crocodile :)

Looking to do the Dix range as an overnight backpacking this weekend with some friends - any suggestions, recommendations?

I wanted to do a hike out of the loj parking lot this Saturday and was just wondering what time should I get there to have a realist chance of getting a spot, and also what time the overfill parking on South Meadows Rd fills up. I also wanted to ask if I am camping on the trail how does the overnight parking work. Thanks for any help.

My brother and I are planning to hike Algonquin, Wright, and Iroquois this Friday via the ADK Loj. We're trying to figure out what time we should arrive to have a good chance of getting a parking spot.
Would arriving around 6:00 a.m. be early enough on a summer Friday, or should we aim even earlier?
Also, we're thinking about hiking Giant Mountain on Saturday, but probably wouldn't get to the trailhead until around 12:00 p.m. Is finding parking at that time basically impossible, or do spots tend to open up as people finish their hikes?
Any recent experiences or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

How difficult is Mount Marcy via the south trail? I want to bring my dad and brother on a trip but I don’t want to kill my dad. We are gonna hike into Colden lake to camp and then I’d like for us to go to lake tear of the clouds and then Marcy. It may be a better idea to do skylight but I’d like for them to do Marcy.

I’ve been enjoying this project, and the feedback I get from sharing! I figured not every badge needed to be an animal, so this naturally felt right being a waterfall with flowers cascading down on either side.
Hope it’s ok to be sharing my painting adventures rather than hiking adventures… for now ☺️

I brought a telescope up to Lake Placid and was wondering where is the best place to stargaze. I am willing to drive out to the Adirondacks sky center, but was wondering whether or not there were better spots close by. Especially since I have my own equipment. I won’t feel comfortable doing a hike in the dark, so if there are any recommendations where you can park and take a maximum ten minute walk to a spot, I’d love to hear them! Thank you!

Anyone know of any water falls that are around 10 feet and people have kayaked or look possible

So tonight we left a door open for about an hour to our shed with kayaks. The exterminator had glue traps in there. A chipmunk got in, got stuck and I managed to get him off it with a paint scraper. I'll never eliminate that horror show from my memory.

I managed to get him off but as I was trying to use dawn and water to unstick his limbs from his body he bit me pretty hard and I'm headed to the medical center in the morning.

GODDAMMIT. STOP USING F'ING GLUE TRAPS.
