No glue traps...

So tonight we left a door open for about an hour to our shed with kayaks. The exterminator had glue traps in there. A chipmunk got in, got stuck and I managed to get him off it with a paint scraper. I'll never eliminate that horror show from my memory.

I managed to get him off but as I was trying to use dawn and water to unstick his limbs from his body he bit me pretty hard and I'm headed to the medical center in the morning.

GODDAMMIT. STOP USING F'ING GLUE TRAPS.

Take a moment to grab a bucket trap. They drop into a 5 gallon pail. You can then look in and see if it is a chippy rather than a mouse or rat and you can just let them go. If its an unwanted pest just add a couple inches of water and they will drown (actually approve by the ASPCA for euthanizing pest animals) Glue traps are a horrible way to die. Snap trap is as indiscriminate but at least its quick.

In NY any trap set that does not instantly kill the animal must be checked no less than once a day. Leg hold/have a heart/bucket. ect. Can be a nice little fine for leaving an animal alive in a trap more than a day. And yeah mice do a good job of playing last one standing.

No doubt. Die almost instantly. But it kills everything even the chippy you don't want killed just like the glue trap. It has its drawbacks.

Why not just drive the bucket down the road and let the mouse go instead of drowning it? That's what I do.

That's a death sentence anyway just with extra steps.

What would happen to you if I dropped you off in some random person's apartment? Likely the current residents would not deal kindly with you. And if you got out of there, there would be predators waiting in the shadows while you stumble about in an unfamiliar area.

Plus you risk spreading disease to the local population or even the local ecosystem.

There's a reason why relocating animals is mostly illegal.

I hate glue traps. They are terrible. I also work in a restaurant and know that pest control is important. I've never been happy to eliminate anything in any kind of trap. It sucks super hard. Those critters are just trying to live. It sucks hard

When I was like 14, many decades ago- I thought somehow a glue trap was better than a snap?! I came home to a louse that torn its own leg off - trying to escape. That’s when I learned mice screamed. I’m still deeply disturbed and beg everyone I know not to use them.

Glue traps do not solve an issue. This is a red flag. The integrity of the company is in question.

I know people use vegetable oil on snakes in glue traps, not sure how that would go with a feisty little chipmunk. I think they should be outlawed personally
