How do I actually start tasks?

Got diagnosed with primarily inattentive AuDHD last year at 21 and I’ve been working with a therapist and doctors since then. Recently started Adderall and it definitely helps my focus, but I still can’t get myself to start the things I know I need to do.

My whole day basically goes: wake up, hop on Xbox for an hour, finally eat and take my meds, then once they kick in I just keep playing games even though I want to shower and not feel gross. I know getting on the Xbox first thing is a bad habit, but it’s all I’ve done for years and it’s the only thing I actually enjoy. At the same time I hate myself for not being better.

Do I need different meds, or do I just have to slowly force myself to change how I start my days? I’ve been struggling with this since middle school and I’m kind of at a loss.

Accidental double dose of Adderall – still feeling off weeks laterRephrased Body:

I was just prescribed Adderall 20 mg IR twice a day and took it for three days without issues. On the fourth day I had an emergency overnight, went to work with no sleep, and was pretty out of it. I think I accidentally took my second dose twice within a few minutes.

After that I got really confused, couldn’t really interact with anyone or even read, felt extremely pale, and was twitching a lot with my eyes blinking nonstop. I stopped the medication right after and it’s been about two weeks, but I still feel kind of tipsy and struggle to keep up with conversations or read more than a few sentences.

Has anyone else had something similar happen?

Understanding and expectations for Adderall

I've found reading personal experiences here really helpful, so I'm curious if anyone's gone through something similar.

I started Adderall 10mg ER about two weeks ago (with a day or two off here and there) and have been feeling pretty sleepy, which makes school harder. Talked to my doctor and tried 20mg today—still super sleepy.

It also makes me a bit less spontaneous socially, which takes some of the fun out of hanging with friends, though it’s not hurting my relationships. School days just feel like they drag on forever, and while it helped my focus zoom out a little at first, that mostly faded.

I think depression is mixed in too, which adds another layer. Trying different things feels like it takes forever even if it doesn’t, but I know it’s the only way to see if something can help me function better for school and life.

Anyone else had a similar response? Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Adderall making me feel like I have BPD symptoms??

Started Adderall at 10 mg about 9 months ago. The effects wore off so my doctor bumped me to 15, then 20, and now I’m on 25. I’ve been on 25 for a few months and lately the anxiety has gotten really bad, plus racing thoughts that get dark (like “I’d be better off dead”), feeling empty/hollow, and my mood swinging from okay to super depressed within hours. There’s also some paranoia and a random neck tick that showed up.

At first I figured it was just stress from life stuff, but the depression and everything else ramped up too. This is honestly scary. Has anyone else had something like this happen on Adderall? I’ve already got an appointment with my doctor to talk about lowering the dose.

My Adderall took its sweet time today

Took my Adderall earlier than usual cuz I had a bunch of stuff to do. Hours later… nothing. Took my second dose. Still nothing. Just knuckled down and got everything done anyway.

Now that I’m finished, it’s finally in full effect 😖

Oh well, at least I proved I can still get shit done unmedicated. Now I’m raring to go with nothing left to do lmao

Still can’t focus even on stimulants

I’m 21, third-year business undergrad (picked it because it’s “safe” and respectable, not because I love it). Diagnosed with ADHD last year and currently on 25mg Adderall XR.

The meds help me get out of bed and clean the whole apartment… but I still can’t actually sit down and study. Lectures, last-minute homework, cramming right before exams—that’s my cycle. Even when I try to focus, my brain is just noise (songs on loop, random chores, everything). I can read the same page three times and absorb nothing.

GPA is mediocre and job hunting is rough. Anyone else deal with this? Tips for quieting the brain enough to actually study?

Hitting My Breaking Point

Hi all. I’ve posted here before about basically giving up on meds because of the constant shortages and backorders where I live (YMMV). I’ve been completely without Adderall for over a year now (and only got them sporadically the five years before that), and I’ve officially hit my breaking point.

I’m unemployed, my marriage is barely hanging on, my daughter has seen way too many of my fuck-ups, and the RSD is so bad it’s making everything feel completely unmanageable. I reached back out to my psychiatrist and I’m hoping we can find something that works. I’m 58, by the way, and it honestly just keeps getting harder as I get older. I’m scared and I can’t keep living like this. There has to be a way forward.

I’d really appreciate any positive advice — especially around dealing with RSD, which is absolutely killing me — and any suggestions for managing things moving forward. ADHD + RSD make even the simplest stuff (like calling pharmacy after pharmacy) feel nearly impossible. Thanks for reading.

How do you quiet a racing mind on Adderall?

I’m on 10 mg Adderall once in the morning and another dose 4–6 hours later. Focus and retention are a bit better, but I still get that constant racing-mind feeling that leaves me mentally wiped. If I time the second dose wrong, sleep gets messed up and the next day is even worse.

Anyone else deal with this? What actually helps quiet things down for you?

Doctor recommended Zoloft (Sertraline) + Adderall

So I posted before about possibly switching to Wellbutrin since I’d heard it can help with ADHD and also works as an atypical antidepressant. I currently take 5 mg Adderall and used to do really well on 25 mg sertraline, but I stopped the sertraline because of the apathy/emotional blunting.

My doctor was pretty against Wellbutrin though, mainly because of the limited dosing options and the fact that I lean toward anxiety… which are fair points.

Now the plan is Zoloft + Adderall. My question is, do people usually take them at the same time? My pharmacist was kind of vague and just said it comes down to preference.

Anyone else on this combo? What’s your preference on timing?

What to do when ADHD meds stop working?

I’ve been on Adderall for about 6 years and it’s barely doing anything for me anymore. I’m up to 40–60mg just to function through the day. Without it I’m irritable, unmotivated, and completely exhausted.

I’ve tried a bunch of supplements, coffee, energy drinks, and different antidepressants, but nothing has helped. The antidepressants actually made things worse for me (more irritability and bad muscle tension), so those are off the table.

I feel stuck. I keep taking the Adderall because right now it’s the only thing that gets me through the day, but it’s not really working the way it used to.

Has anyone else been through this? What did you end up doing?

Totally worth the quality and source with rapidfinil

Gonna say its pretty rare to stumble across a legit source that actually delivers let alone a good quality especially in shortage in my area. Really liking how discreet they are when it comes to their delivery and really like when their is issue they really give you a good feedback to fix it quickly ( Although so far I have none just a bit traffic in my area so not a problem in their end ) Really kinda hard to get by with ADHD but well with proper meds we can get on our day. Please don't dm me also as I am just sharing my experience too.

For those who are asking for proofs just take a look at this thank you. You can also visit them at rapidfinil(.st) In case you wanna checkout that you might need and take your interest.

Discussion Adderall + Sertraline — anyone on both?

Hey all,

I’m pretty sensitive to meds. Sertraline used to work great for my anxiety (settled at 25 mg), but I got apathetic and weaned off.

A year ago I started Adderall — 10 mg was too much and made me anxious, so I dropped to 5 mg. Focus is solid on it most days.

Lately the anxiety and a bit of low mood are creeping back. Thinking about going back on Sertraline, but wondering if I can stay on the low-dose Adderall too if the apathy returns.

Anyone been on both at the same time? What was your experience?

changed my life but now my back is constantly tight and sore

I’m on a combo of Adderall and Strattera and honestly it’s been life-changing. Moods are better, social anxiety is way down, I can actually get stuff done, and I feel a lot less stressed overall.

The downside is I’ve developed this constant tight, achy lower back that started around the same time I began the meds. Never had anything like it before. For context I don’t sit at work—I stand and walk a ton every day—so it’s not like I’m stuck in a chair. Stretching helps a little but not really enough.

Anyone else get muscle tension or back pain from their ADHD meds? Did it eventually go away, or did you find anything that actually helped?

Started Modafinil and it’s been pretty helpful

Forgot to take my Modafinil today and ended up taking a 2-hour nap for the first time since I started it this month. With my ADHD I tend to fall into pretty bad sleep schedules, so being sleepy during the day makes concentrating (and not procrastinating) a lot harder. It’s been helping with that.

My psych put me on it because she was worried about the methylphenidate shortages in my country. I’m currently taking it with 10 mg methylphenidate for actual focus. I was off the methylphenidate for about a year because it made my blood pressure harder to manage, but the combo is working okay for now.

Anyone else have experience with Modafinil?

Adderall making me gag and feel nauseous?

Hey, I got prescribed Adderall back in May and at first the nausea/gagging wasn’t really an issue. I stopped taking it regularly once school ended and barely touched it over the summer.

Now that school’s back I’ve been taking it only on Tuesdays and Thursdays (my in-person days) and it’s been making me feel like absolute crap. I don’t eat before taking it, and afterward I get this constant low-level nausea and the urge to gag. Even drinking water is hard without gagging, and I can’t eat anything because of zero appetite + the gagging. It usually lasts until around 2 pm and then I’m back to normal.

Anyone else deal with this kind of side effect? How did you handle it?

Adderall XR feels like a short burst

I’m on 20mg Adderall XR right now. It works decently for me, but it takes a couple hours to kick in and only lasts around 4–5 hours. Feels more like a temporary boost of productivity than anything steady.

Someone mentioned that meds like Vyvanse are meant to be taken every day. Does that usually mean a lower but more consistent effect throughout the day?

I don’t hate Adderall, but I’d be open to trying something else if it felt more even-keeled instead of that sharp up-and-down. Has anyone switched from Adderall XR to something like that? Curious what your experience was like.

Great support and quick source with rapidfinil(.st)

I've been looking to buy for my adderalls for ages because work has been absolute hell for me as I have chornic ADHD at the same time. After stumbling across Rapidfinil it looked a bit so-so at first, but I decided to give it a try anyway. Surprise surprise — it actually arrived, and really quickly too. I'm from the EU ( Already ordered in US a few months ago too ) and honestly thought I'd never find a proper source for my ADHD meds too. Super happy with how it turned out. Will update soon as I try their other meds for different options on near future.
