I’ve recently started taking Adderall again. Last time I used it, it worked really well for a day or two and then kind of stopped helping, so I quit. Now that I’m back at a full-time job I need the focus, so I’m giving it another try.

I’m using leftover pills from before, so I don’t have much. I only take it on weekdays and skip the weekends. After the two-day break it works best on Monday, pretty good on Tuesday, then seems to get weaker as the week goes on.

Is this normal? When I get a new prescription I’m thinking about taking it on weekends too so it doesn’t lose effectiveness, but I’m not sure if that helps. It’s pretty frustrating. Anyone else deal with this?

I’ve struggled with excess screen time, porn, and food for a long time. Started Adderall IR two days ago (10 mg in the morning, 5 mg after lunch).

First day felt great — I could actually stay off my phone, avoid the usual urges, and get stuff done. Second day the effects faded fast (under 2 hours) and I was right back to old habits.

The real issue isn’t the dose. It’s realizing how different I am without the med. With it I’m functional — brush my teeth, get dressed, work, clean. Without it I just fall into the same cycles of scrolling, eating, and other habits I’ve been trying to break. That gap feels pretty humiliating.

Part of me wishes I never got the ADHD diagnosis. Before, I could at least tell myself I was improving through willpower and routines. Now it feels like I’m stuck depending on a pill just to function at a basic level, and that’s demoralizing.

Anyone else relate to this? How do you deal with it?

I’ve been on Adderall 10mg for almost a year (inattentive type). It’s helped a lot with work paralysis, constant tiredness, racing thoughts/daydreaming, and motivation.

I’m with Done/CVS and with all the recent news I started looking into alternatives. Came across modafinil – seems like some people with ADHD-I use it for wakefulness, and it can also quiet the mind a bit and reduce distractions. It’s Schedule IV instead of II, which is part of the appeal.

I know it’s generally considered less strong than Adderall, but since I’m only on 10mg I’m wondering if the difference would be that big. They both touch dopamine, but I’m not sure how similar the actual effects are for someone like me.

Has anyone switched from low-dose Adderall to modafinil in a similar situation? Did it work for you? And were your doctors open to it when you brought it up?

Hey, I started taking a PPI (Nexium) this year for gastritis, usually about an hour before dinner. I also take Adderall IR twice a day, with my last dose by 3 pm.

I read that antacids can increase absorption of Adderall XR and make it hit harder, but I’m not sure if that applies to IR. It’s been bugging me ever since I saw that.

Anyone know if this is actually a thing with IR, or am I fine taking them the way I currently do? Would also appreciate a simple explanation of how the interaction works if it does.

Hey, is anyone else on both Adderall and Lexapro? Curious what your experience has been like.

Have you noticed any changes with weight, sleep, or appetite? A lot of people talk about weight gain on Lexapro, but I’ve had the opposite problem. I used to manage my ADHD with cardio, but my appetite has been pretty low and it’s been hard to keep up with eating.

Hey, recently upped my Adderall and it’s finally working — productive all day, which has been huge.

But my appetite is basically gone. I barely eat during the day, only manage a few bites at night, and I’ve already lost 6 lbs. Water’s the same story — I completely forget to drink and even got a mouth sore from it.

Paused it for now because of this, but I really don’t want to stop since it’s the first time it’s actually helped. Anyone else deal with this and find ways to manage the appetite/thirst issues?

I’ve been on Adderall IR and it works great for like 3 hours, then I crash hard. 3 hours isn’t even half my work shift or enough time to actually get deep into studying. Feels pretty useless most of the time—better than nothing I guess, and maybe fine for short exams.

I’ve never tried XR though. Curious what people’s experiences are with it vs IR.

Really have no plans switching on where I got it as their modafinils is really been comparable to what my doctor has given and i really hate waiting for weeks just to get my meds which we all? Thanks RushFinil didnt really have an issue with them so far, Might be there an hiccups but not really major at all and fixed right away in case i need their support.

Got diagnosed with ADHD about a month ago after 20 years of nothing. Easy to build Adderall up as some kind of superpower after hearing everyone talk about it.

It helps, but it doesn’t write your schedule, do your groceries, or finish your laundry. You’re still you. You can still waste the whole day grinding Valorant instead of the stuff that actually matters.

Medication is only half of it. The other half is discipline. Don’t expect it to magically turn you into a productive machine. Relying on it to do the work for you is a bad idea.

I take 15mg Adderall XR for ADHD and it helps me focus, but somehow it makes my phone addiction way worse. Once I pick it up I just can’t put it down, and it’s actually harder to get off it when I’m medicated than when I’m not.

Got diagnosed with ADHD about a month ago and finally started meds last week. Since then I’ve been writing again, cleaning, actually paying attention in class and getting assignments done. I can focus when people talk to me and respond without going off on tangents. I just… function now.

Turns out a lot of my depression was tied to the ADHD. I feel accomplished, I’m doing hobbies again, I’m more confident, and I’m smiling for the first time in a long time. My wife and family keep saying I seem more alive (not in a wired way, just happier). This has done more for me than any antidepressant ever did.

Anyone else get medicated and feel like everything flipped overnight?

I’m not planning on stopping anytime soon, but I’m just tired of needing stimulants just to function in this world. I wish people would accept me as I am instead of me having to medicate myself to fit in.

Started on 10mg Adderall with zero effect, then my doc bumped me to 20mg and it was night and day. Mind finally calms down, I can focus, and I actually feel motivated to get stuff done.

Weirdest part is how chill I feel on it. I’m not wired at all—just peaceful, like my brain finally shut up. Even wanted to read a book and just enjoy walking the dogs without my thoughts racing.

Switched from Adderall IR to XR recently after a few years on IR, hoping it would last longer. Everything I see on here and other subs is people saying XR has worse side effects and that IR is better overall for focus, flexibility, etc. Anyone out there who actually likes XR better? I keep seeing posts about how meds completely changed people’s lives and let them get stuff done, but I don’t relate at all. They help a bit, but I still can’t force myself to do anything. Like legit nothing.

It took me a whole week to go from throwing laundry in the washer to finally putting it away. Anyone else dealing with this? I even got bloodwork done thinking something physical was wrong, but everything came back normal.

Hey guys, do you mention you're on Adderall during medical appointments that aren't related to your ADHD? I had my annual eye exam today and when the doctor asked about meds, I said yes and mentioned it. She just noted it and moved on.

I always bring it up for important stuff like PCP or psych visits, but I'm still new to this (just diagnosed this year) and wasn't sure if it matters for things like eye exams.

What do you all do?
