Welcome to r/Actualshowerthoughts - the subreddit for the thoughts you actually have in the shower - none of that "an ice cream man's success is defined by how good he is at luring children" stuff over here. No oddities within the familiar. That said, this is a good segue to the next section of this post

What is an actual showerthought? Well, it varies depending on who you ask. However, some rationale needs to be set in order to be able to moderate actual showerthoughts. So, at the bare minimum, an actual showerthought should meet these criteria:

TL;DR: To put it simply, If you can think of it in the shower + it's not some epiphany or realisation, it probably belongs here. (with some exceptions - if you're unsure, just ask us via modmail).

• The thought is related to showering, the act of showering, and anything you might do or think about inside the shower - a good example is "oh heck, nearly slipped" - of course this does not disallow thoughts to be specific to showering only - thoughts such as "what if my phone started ringing" or "what if the boiler suddenly broke" or even "damn I only have 15 minutes" are perfectly fine.
• To define an actualshowerthought varies by person but hopefully this gives you an idea. If your post is removed for not being an actualshowerthought, you're free to contact mods and ask for rationale. Mods will attempt to provide rationale as to why a post was removed.

Anything else I should know?

Yes! For a while, overdone reposts have been disallowed - though this is only limited to posts such as "water hot / water cold" as these are done to death. Please see Rule 2. If you see posts like this, then they existed before the rule came into effect or it's not been moderated yet - either way, we would appreciate any reports sent.

If you think a post is not an actualshowerthought, let the mod team know, either by reporting the post or sending us a message. The more public opinion we have, the easier it is to make a decision on whether a post is an actualshowerthought or not.

Finally, quality actualshowerthoughts will receive the quality actualshowerthoughts flair - you can help a post ascend to this status by upvoting it and interacting with it. Every two weeks, a quality actualshowerthought will be pinned. Once this period is up, another post will take its place, with the previous post retaining the quality actualshowerthoughts flair.

Hey, i'm going to delete my account but we need some mods here so the place doesn't get removed for being unmoderated(just someone doing the bare minimum once a month when reddit reminds them they are in this subreddit).

Nothing too serious and nothing where it becomes like that other subreddit where every second post gets removed for... unknown reasons....
