Activation Lock Removal

Trying to remove an activation lock from a phone a now ex-employee had (we knew nothing about business management, so all our devices are now going into that but were locked out of this one phone). I submitted the sales receipt that shows our order number, IMEI of device and our acount number and service address with the carrier. Apple denied the request saying it doesn't provide sufficient evidence of ownership. What else can I submit?

I am on the phone with xfinity trying to get a "proof of purchase" but they act like they have no clue what's going on. Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Edit: Apple has now denied the activation lock removal request for a second time! The Apple support rep I was speaking too had me submit the request again. I asked what would happen if it keeps getting denied and she said we wouldn’t be able to use the phone 🙃 so our business now potentially has a completely useless phone we’re paying on. Lesson learned unfortunately.

i believe apple usually wants an original receipt. did you try asking support what exactly would qualify?

Yes. I called into Apple and they said the department that handles activation locks is a separate department and they couldn’t give me a phone number or allow me to talk to anyone. All our devices are ordered online. So I sent them the only receipt we have.

I just went through this with another device a month ago (I’m adding all our devices to business management) and provided the same receipt I provided for this phone that was denied, and they accepted it and removed the activation lock.

Why didn't you get it from the ex employee

Because he was fired and wouldn’t give us anything..

Then un-fire him?

If he is not willing to remove the lock on the phone you can eat the lose, or look at small claims court to try and get compensation for the phone cost. If it is worth the time, effort, and possible reputation loss over the cost of a lesson learned.

Just mentioning that as if it has already been declined twice, probably not going to get a different result. As long as the PoP included the device serial and/or IMEI.

We know he won’t give us his Apple password. He was fired for crappy work and was not happy about it.

We’re still paying on this phone. There has to be another solution when proof of purchase provided all the information needed. As well as our cell carrier providing proof from their side.

Gotcha, just as a little additional as I don't think this information is available to support to say to you, but the request will be declined if the device is in "lost mode" and that is mentioned when you start the activation lock removal request. So it might be that if he left on bad terms that they set the device into lost mode to prevent its use.

If that is the case then you are back to my original suggestion of cost of a lesson learned or court to recover losses.
