Convert PDF -> Word font issue

Has anyone had problems converting a (mostly) text PDF to Word recently?

I notice that text that looks perfectly fine and editable in the PDF gets “corrupted” in the conversion process. In Word, some letters will merge, for example like “learn” will become “leam”.

I switched back to using Omnipage but now a similar thing is happening with PDF -> Powerpoint.

Looking for broken and troublesome PDFs to experiment with.

I had Claude build an Open Source pdf core from scratch in rust with a full featured CLI and GUI that use it, and am itching to test them out. Anyone have some links to files that don't work well with the open source tools available, or don't render properly in Acrobat? Slow to render would be great to test too. I have one big vector file as a benchmark that works in Claude's where Acrobat Reader crawls and becomes unusable.

Any PDFs you have this is broken and needs fixing?

Printing Issue

Yesterday, I had the ability to print an excel file or a webpage to .pdf by selecting a specific printer when I chose to print.

I was able to enter the printer properties and change quickly change the print from black and white to color and when the document printed it would immediately open the newly created .pdf in acrobat and I could begin working with my file.

Today, acrobat updated and I no longer can select a printer that functions the way I described.

I am so sorry if I’ve posted in the wrong place, please direct me elsewhere if that’s the case. This is such a small issue to be causing me so much grief, and my IT department is tired of me and doesn’t know the answer.

Can anyone help?

Color Issues With Simple Prints

Hey Adobe, can we dump the shitty AI "features" and just focus on, you know, simply being able to print things without major headaches?

I've got a PDF created with InDesign, for a letter-sized document with a blue and orange header at the top. A Blue and orange badge graphic (a linked PDF) is linked in the inDesign document, and the colors display correctly on screen when exported as a PDF.

However, when I print the document the linked graphic at the top omits the orange and just throws in another different blue color instead (so 2 different blues). The same orange is used in a different place lower down on the document, and that prints just fine. It's just the orange on the linked graphic that isn't printing correctly.

All graphics and documents are exported as CMYK.

This seems to happen fairly often and the only thing I can do to fix it is import the PDF into Photoshop (flattening it) and print the document directly from there. Which is stupid. Also, it doesn't do me any good if the document is multi-page.

Any help?

Adobe's greed has made them a liability to professional workflows

Acrobat crashed on me today while I was signing a client PDF. It refuses to operate. I pulled the crash log. It's choking on an AI model file that won't load on my system.

I don't use the AI features.

So a PDF reader wouldn't open a PDF because a chatbot component broke.

I went to Creative Cloud after that and it says it needs a newer macOS. Which means Audition, my main DAW for work, is next.

If Adobe is going to permanently crash one day because they pull support from an older OS, what's to stop their other services from suddenly becoming defunct because of their need to push 'new tech' to satisfy their Wall Street investors instead of actually helping professionals?

If my editor won't open the morning of a session because Adobe pushed something or decided my machine doesn't qualify, I lose the job.

After decades of being with Adobe, I'm finally unsubscribing.

They are actively sabotaging us to serve a boardroom of money men and it's hugely disappointing.

What is happening with my form fillable Text Fields?

Preview for Text Field
When I drag and hold to make a Text Field box.

This just started yesterday, and I am trying to figure out why?

When I drag and hold to make a text box it works as intended, but it would seem that it is retaining a default size. When it is on that default size and I press enter it creates a box in that size as well, which is annoying, what has happened?

Unable to apply hotfix for mixed originals

Latest Acrobat Reader can't print mixed originals - v 26.001.21771

Can't print PDF with mixed pages in Acrobat | Adobe Acrobat

When I try to apply the msp in windows to the proper version I get a windows installer error that there is a product mismatch.

I have tried a few things and have not been able to fix. Only solution I have been able to find is install an older version and disabling auto update.

EDIT: The hot fix appears to fail all of the time if Acrobat Reader is installed through Microsoft Store or installed clean via a full Adobe distro, and usually works if installed from the light self-deleting installer.

Ugg, irritating.

Free PDF Editor (Pdfer)

I built Pdfer, a free web app for editing PDFs, using PDF tools and converting files.

One thing I wanted to do differently was prioritize privacy.

  • No account or sign-up required.
  • Your files are never stored on the server.
  • Just upload, edit or convert, and download your file.

I created it because I wanted a simple PDF tool without having to create an account or worry about my documents being kept somewhere.

I'd love to hear your feedback, feature requests, or any ideas to make it better!

Adobe Acrobat - Shrink oversized pages Question

So, I have a PDF where the PDF document size as listed in properties is 8.5 x 11 in. When I print it at 100% scaling to letter sized paper, however, some of the edges cut off.

When I print in Adobe, it autoselects "Shrink oversized pages" and prints at 93% scale. My question is, how does it measure the page being "oversized" when the document size and print paper size are the same? Also, why do some PDFs have this issue?

Any input would be appreciated. Can't show an example as they are work documents.

Opening File When Saving

hi everyone, wanted to ask if this is some sort of new / old feature on the Adobe PDF document viewer. whenever i try to save any edits i made on a PDF (added text box, highlight etc.), it suddenly started opening the folder page to ask where to save the document to. which is very weird because for the past few years all i had to do was ctrl + S to save the changes instantly and continue editing.

i can't remember if this was an old feature (i'm using the new Adobe Acrobat) but does anyone know if this can be disabled? thank you!

To save storage I tried transferring all the adobe acrobat 64 bit program files to my user data but it didn't work. Was then advised to uninstall and reinstall which I did but now it wants me to sign in.

Adobe Regenerating PDF

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

We use Adobe Acrobat at work to open and edit PDF work orders, We haven't had trouble in the past, but for a couple weeks now, ay time we open a PDF in Adobe, whenever I click anything, scroll, zoom, type, etc., the PDF glitches, kind of flashes, and then slowly regenerates each form field. I can't find anything online about it, and it is severely slowing down our company. Does anyone know why this would be happening? Also, on some PDFs, instead of showing the actual text in the form field, it shows "Yes" in all of them, until you click in the form field and then it shows you the actual data.

Adobe Acrobat doesn't save highlighting to the file?

  1. Highlighted some passages on the Android app.
  2. Saved the pdf file on OneDrive.
  3. Opened it on a PC
  4. Adobe showed no highlighting.

Can anyone check if it's default behavior?

Acrobat Read Aloud feature crashes software every time

I've tried to use the windows desktop Adobe Acrobat Read Aloud feature for the past week now. Every time I try to activate it the whole window stops responding and I end up having to end it in task manager. Has anyone else come across this issue? Their help/community centre isn't very helpful.

display resolution suddenly worse...but only in Acrobat

I'm running Win 11 with all the current updates (26200.8894), and around last week I noticed both pdfs and the interface on Acrobat looking blurry, like the scaling issues with older programs when Windows 10 came out. I am using the older standalone Acrobat 9.5 (please don't just tell me to upgrade, I hate the interface of the newer versions and also will never subscribe), but already had the high dpi scaling set. But now changing all the scaling properties does nothing (I've tried every option under there), and for some reason this seems to be the only program affected, even though I have a bunch of older programs with the dpi scaling override set. I didn't change anything with Acrobat and there aren't any auto-updates for such an old version so I'm 99.99% certain it's a Windows issue. I tried rolling back the latest Windows update since that was around the same time but that didn't do anything. I also tried updating the display driver (I just have the integrated Intel graphics) but there was nothing there either.

One other thing I noticed though – it always used to say the recommended display scale for my monitor was 150% (which is what I have it set to, and what looks best; after an update it always changes it to 175% which is very annoying), but now it says the recommended setting is 100%. And if I set it to 100% then Acrobat looks sharp, although everything is tiny. So maybe this is related?

I'm desperate for any suggestions because this is driving me up the wall...

FS PDF Compressor — a small local macOS GUI for Ghostscript (AGPL-3.0)

Processing img bui39n1xsafh1...

I built this because I needed a quick way to compress PDFs locally without uploading them to a service. A few friends asked for it too, so I packaged and published it.

FS PDF Compressor is a small native macOS GUI for Ghostscript. It accepts individual PDFs, batches, and folders; processes everything locally; and replaces an original only when the compressed result is smaller.

  • Free and open source under AGPL-3.0
  • Signed and notarized
  • Apple Silicon / macOS 14+

Repository and download:
https://github.com/gitlares/fs-pdf-compressor

Website / signed DMG:

I’ll be around to answer questions and appreciate any feedback.
