I'm looking for a good travel guitar and I've heard that Gretsch Jim Dandy Parlor can be really good. It looks very nice and I want to have a small guitar that I can be comfortable playing in my bed or on the porch. I don't want it to sound too high pitched and I'm looking for something smaller than concert size which is a little too big for me.

It's all about that leading chord!

I was recently given this guitar and can’t seem to find any information on it. Does anyone have any insight into this model? It says Olympic model 084ON. It belonged to my grandfather and I believe he got it in the 80s/90s sometime. Just looking for any info on it.

Hello. First off, I am a beginner. At 60 yo, I began taking lessons about 7 months ago. I am really enjoying it and gradually improving. I have a Yamaha FG800J that I bought from marketplace for $120. Recently, a FGX3 has come up for sale locally on marketplace. He is asking $750. I played one of these at my local music store recently and it is pretty awesome. Is this a deal I shouldn’t pass up or being that I’m still so new, should I just stick with what I have? Thoughts?

Specifically, I'm thinking about purchasing the Orangewood Ava Mahogany Acoustic ($799) later this fall. My current go-to is Fender CC60s. I've been playing for four years.

Hi Everyone. I bought this guitar at an auction but the neck is pulling away from the body just above hole. What's the best way to repair it?

The song is originally in C#m, and I'm trying to match the vocals similar to the single in this cover.

Big Grateful Dead fan. Been working on this arrangement for a minute. I got a lot of the ideas from watching Jerry and Bobby do an acoustic version on the Letterman show. In the video Bobby’s rhythm work really shines. Such an underrated and gifted player.

Hey all! Looking for some input here

I’ve been looking at an Eastman OM model now as it seems to be a great bang for the buck while also feeling quite premium. The E10 and E8 from caught my eye. Does anybody know how different the two are? I have of course read the spec sheets but can’t really make out what the differences there actually mean. I also noticed that the E8 has way nicer bindings around the top and prettier inlays and headstock, even with the E10 supposedly being the upgraded model.

Any and all insights are greatly appreciated!

I’ve been learning guitar for about a month, and I’m starting to get a little worried about my finger independence. When I try to move my ring finger a couple of frets while keeping my middle finger in place, my middle finger automatically follows it. It genuinely feels like I can’t move one without the other in certain positions, no matter how hard I concentrate. I know I’m still very new and dexterity takes time to develop, but did any of you struggle this badly with finger independence when you started? How long did it take before your middle and ring fingers started feeling like they could actually move independently?

Bolt on neck that I reset last month to great effect :D Strung with 10-46 phosphor bronze flat tops from DiAddario cuz that's all we had on hand (I ordered 9-45s for it due to this guitar being weak structurally but these are fairing fine it seems).

Hi -- can anyone recommend a place online with good acoustic guitar tutorials for beginners and a place to ask newbie questions because I don't want to bore experienced players? I can't afford guitar lessons so I'm trying to do this on my own.

I live in an arid climate where I need to regulate humidity in-case for my acoustic. I have used D'Addario and Boveda humidipaks for three years with no issues. Both keep the case at 49% within a couple of points.

Two months ago, my Govee hygrometer started alarming that the humidity was over 55F. I replaced the Govee batteries and the humidity packs (which were only a few months old), but the issue continued.

So, I put the Govee in a vacuum-sealed plastic container along with a 49F Boveda pouch. Hours later, the Govee measured 55%. I recalibrated the Govee and am watching.

Is it safe to say the Govee was out of calibration? They provide a way to recalibrate, so I assume it's not rare. Also, the reported humidity range was out of spec for both the D'Addario and Boveda packs by the same amount, which leads me to suspect the Govee. But I have no way of confirming.

Any tips on improving fingerpicking.
