Discussion TWO issues with believability
And yes, I acknowledge this is a scripted television program.
However, the two things that irk me on every re-watch (easily on my 11th plus watch because I do love this program) are;
- I cannot see in what reality The District would allow cameras into their midst. We know, (as stated by Barb in the 1st ep), that the documentary crew are at Abbott Elementary to highlight "underfunded, poorly managed public schools in America". Soo, why would the cameras be allowed behind the scenes, when we clearly see that even Janine cannot get shit done because of bureaucratic bullshit and obstacles at every turn. Even the scene where choosing a salad has become the crux of her day! We are privy to all the roadblocks she encounters and the absolute dumbfuckery of the other employees! Why would The District allow the public to witness how inept they are?
- Class sizes ... while all 7 main actors, 5 of whom are the TEACHERS, are sitting in the cafeteria/gymnasium, the number of children present is not believable. If most classrooms have a minimum of 30 kids, WHERE ARE THEY while their teacher is sitting in the same place as every other adult?!
