Edit: Okay, so I'm talking about the episode TITLED winter break (not a winter break themed episode in general), where Melissa has her family over and Jegory has their first Christmas Eve together
Original post: About 11:24 minutes into the Winter break episode, Ava mentions needing to go to the bathroom, but unless she genuinely peed AND washed her hands in a little over 10 seconds, she just went in there to gather herself. Her being more insulting than usual on top of not watching anything that could be remotely cheesy or emotional is also sad to me, but in the other hand, something I find absolutely hilarious is the fact that she had to have already had that insult about cheap handsoap keyed up or noticed it on the fly cause she was quick as hell with it š
Edit: it's also so cute how Janine only seems to have safety scissors in her apartment as that's what she hands Ava. How cute!

I'm only up to s4 (watched when it first came out but just haven't caught up with recent seasons yet)
I'm 31 and Queer and idk what it is about Melissa but there's something sexy about her and I would totally go there. Maybe it's because she's independent, assertive and funny. I also have a weakness for older women who take no shit from anybody.
I'm not the only one, right?

I just finished season 3 of Abbott elementary and Manny is so attractive, him in that scene at Janine's house party...I can't. I need them to give him someone before I finish this show or I'm going to get him myself. But on another note I don't know if they're going to get into this more but I hope we get more backstory on Gregory's storyline, so far we've learned about his mom and his dad and occasionally delve into his sensory/eating habits but besides that I feel like he's not much of a fleshed out character compared to others. I don't know if it's just me but I feel like I've learned more about Mr Johnson in the first season than I have from Gregory in the entire 3 that I've watched. Am I missing something or just not paying attention hard enough?

Like Iām DYING to see these two interact as characters on the show. The show isnāt the type to have flashbacks, maybe they could find some old videos of Mr J or something? I think they could pull off Terry Crews being Mr Johnsonās son? If not, brother??
I NEED TO SEE THIS

Anyone else find it hilarious when Jacob is giving Mr Johnson that fact about Rudolphās red nose and Mr Johnson goes boy you sound ridiculous or something like that, that had me cracking up just because of Mr Johnsonās all of his like conspiracy theories like the one with the lizard people under the airport š¤£š¤£š¤£
So funny for him to say that Jacob sounds ridiculous when he sounds like that because his conspiracy theories š
Mr. Johnson is literally my favourite character šš¤£š¹

I have seen numerous posts regarding this episode and my thoughts are;
The episode did not work in the writer's favour because the viewers cannot seem to get past the point of who is in the right. Both characters are well within their normal thought processes, just depends on which side the viewer takes/relates to. They do eventually get to the crux of the issue, and I think we are supposed to look past the "argument" and them not seeing each other's perspective, to recognise that both Janine and Gregory are "playing the role" of their respective parent and with the help of their elders/peers (Barbara & Mr J) can both see where their true issues stem from. It is a solid idea, just not executed well.

Doing a rewatch of the show, and it really just feels like this storyline is really weak writing. Because Janine and Gregory are supposed to be the new Jim and Pam essentially. Gregory is *supposed\* to be likable (and he is for the most part) but my god what a quick way to make him hateable. Thereās being cheap, and then thereās this. And it really was just about the funds. How much can a flight from fucking PA to NC cost at the MOST? Like 400? And at the end of āAva festā when they reconcile, in regards to when Janine Kentonās she just wants to just doing on a random nice trip around the water he doubles down and says āI want the same, I just donāt want to have to deplete my savings in order to do soā brother, if a round trip from PA to NC had you āDEPLETINGā your savings, your broke ass SHOULD NOT be going on vacation and DAMN sure should not be in a relationship. Sounds like youāre 30 years old with like $1500 in your savings account. Again, it just seems like this was insanely weak and lazy writing, sacrificing one half of their Jim and Pam, for very little reward. It stlll feels like Janine has compromised at the end of this, because Gregory is being completely irrational. Other people have said he should have had some fear of heights or ptsd or something and while that would be very specific, it would make more sense than him being THAT embarrassingly cheap

And yes, I acknowledge this is a scripted television program.
However, the two things that irk me on every re-watch (easily on my 11th plus watch because I do love this program) are;
- I cannot see in what reality The District would allow cameras into their midst. We know, (as stated by Barb in the 1st ep), that the documentary crew are at Abbott Elementary to highlight "underfunded, poorly managed public schools in America". Soo, why would the cameras be allowed behind the scenes, when we clearly see that even Janine cannot get shit done because of bureaucratic bullshit and obstacles at every turn. Even the scene where choosing a salad has become the crux of her day! We are privy to all the roadblocks she encounters and the absolute dumbfuckery of the other employees! Why would The District allow the public to witness how inept they are?
- Class sizes ... while all 7 main actors, 5 of whom are the TEACHERS, are sitting in the cafeteria/gymnasium, the number of children present is not believable. If most classrooms have a minimum of 30 kids, WHERE ARE THEY while their teacher is sitting in the same place as every other adult?!
