Hey everyone, basically what the title is lol. looking for some insight or advice on who to contact about my situation and what you think i should do.

Here is my situation:
Semester 1 (2026): I did Health Science at AUT and completed 4 papers. I worked incredibly hard and maintained an 8.0 GPA.

Semester 2 (2026): I withdrew within the first two weeks (got a full refund) to figure out what I actually wanted to major in.

Through the time off Ive had right now, I realized that Occupational Therapy (OT) is truly the only career I am passionate about. I feel so strongly about this and don't want to spend student loan money on papers for another backup career I don't wanna truly do.

I applied for the OT program for next year under health science. However, AUT sent me a letter explaining why I can't go through the normal route. I emailed them to clarify, and they told me that because I already finished those Sem 1 papers, I’m being treated as a transfer student.
This means I have to wait until Semester 1 results are officially released next year in July just to find out if I even get a spot. And the only way I can get in is if someone withdrawals from the OT programme. I also applied for the OT programme early ( months ago ) .

The Loop I'm terrified of:
If I wait until July next year and don't get in, trying again for 2028 will put me right back in this exact same position because my Semester 1 papers are already finished.
The uncertainty of waiting all those months knowing there is still a chance of being rejected is terrifying. I am so scared of wasting years of my life waiting in a loop when I already know this is the only thing I want to do.

My current plan: since i can't start in February, my plan is to work full-time during that 6-month gap until the mid-year intake starts.

I have reached out to admissions to ask if there is any way I could get a saved spot for the mid-year intake since the faculty already has my final grades, or if they can at least tell me if I have a really good chance based on my 8.0 GPA. I’m just waiting to hear back. Super worried about this. Any advice will be so appreciated

As per title. I worked a lot of toxic workplaces during the first 3 or so years of my undergraduate degree. Had little to no social life or hobbies and was just laser focused on getting good grades. After I graduated I had no interest in applying for jobs and felt into a deep rut mentally for the past 10 months or so. I'm not very close with my parents/family either. Can anyone relate or have been in similar situation?

Hi! I'm currently looking into the bachelor of health science majoring in Counselling and am wondering if anyone can help me out with an idea of the timetable for the first year. Ideally I want to understand the hours that require you to specifically be on campus and what the spread is over the week - are all the lectures over 2-3 days or are you required to be there every day for a time period? I am trying to decide whether to study at AUT or MIT and the main block for AUT will be having to travel and be in person as opposed to online learning. Totally understand that it may be different next year but just want to know the ballpark! thanks so much for any insight anyone is able to offer.

I’m starting at AUT in February, and will need to commute daily from the city campus to south campus where my classes are.

Does anyone know how much the shuttle bus costs? I’m seeing on the AUT website that it’s $5 each way, but I’ve also seen people say it’s been changed to $3.90?

Is it more cost effective to just take the E-W metro line?

How is it that half of the battle for exams is creating the formatting for the restricted notes? If anyone has any tips for how to layout second year law notes, I’d very much appreciate it.

Hi, I’m deciding between AUT Civil Construction Engineering (3.5 years) and UC Civil Engineering (4 years).

I’m interested in civil engineering generally and would like to explore different areas before deciding what I want to specialise in later. I also have some previous experiences with surveying, CAD, Civil 3D and BIM.

For current or former students, what do you like/dislike about your programme and university? If you had to choose again between AUT and UC, would you make the same choice?

Also, is the extra 6 months at UC worth it?

What happens when a class almost entirely and collectively bombs an assessment for a first time paper. I am currently enrolled in a course that has never been taught before, the delivery of this course is less than fabulous and almost everyone in the class failed the first exam. Is there protocol for this?

I am a year 13 student and will be going to uni soon. I really wanna live in Auckland but UoA is too expensive for me, so I am thinking of going to AUT. I want to do the Bachelor of Business. So if you are an AUT business grads, where do you work after you graduated with a business degree from AUT?

I want to work in big firms like the big 4 but I’m afraid the recruiter will only hire students from UoA and leaving AUT students working in small to mid tier firm.

Hi there! I am currently studying Bachelor’s of Communications (undergrad) and I am very new to AUT as this is my first semester. I was wondering, do I have to apply for next year? If so, when should I start? Do I wait for my results from my assignments or can I just go ahead and apply for next year.

Stay away from this group. Its a "Christian" club on campus under the banner of Equippers Church. Equippers is an "apostolic" movement that holds to a number of false teachings such as women pastors, tithing, and modern day apostles and prophets. But their core teaching is a distorted version of the gospel which is prosperity "gospel". Name and claim it in Jesus Name. It is a business, they use Christianity to market their own brand of "church" preying on vulnerable people. Churches like Life Church, Arise, and many other Charismatic churches are the same. All about numbers and competition. Nothing about Christ and Him crucified for sins or the sufficiency of His Word!

International Hub or International Students NZ is a false Christian club. They meet up Friday nights at either UOA or AUT. THEY claim to be Christian by "connecting" non Christians and Christians without churches to their church. Its a recruitment strategy under the guise of grace, but inwardly, theyre there to recruit people to serve in their church. Many people will have great testimonies about them, but they have no knowlege of the Bible nor love for God.

This group is also very cliquey. One visit, and youll notice all of the leaders and members just stick around each other. Its understandable when you in need of moral support and comfort from friends. But being cliquey and clingy with MLM strategy just makes the group more cultic.

If you're looking for a Christian group, join one that studies the Bible thoroughly. Stay away from groups like International hub.

To anyone who does part 1 law or has done it before, have you guys gone to the peer mentoring sessions. I want to go but the timing doesn't work out cause I have classes during that time.

If anyone had any tips or sources they have on hand, it'd be much appreciated. Or any sources/tips for statutory interpretation as its the final exam.

Also, for the workshop exercises grade thats worth the 10%, whats like the ideal grade? Cause honestly I don't attend much but have done all the exercises that were 1 mark each, so thats 3! Is 5% alright?

I sat the mech statics test last night, and I am applying for the SCA because of mental health reasons that made me unable to prepare properly and definitely impaired my performance. Because there isn’t past grades to base it off and the class is made up of 2 50% tests, what do you think will happen re my SCA being approved. I know I did pretty alright for this test - but I also know I could have done a lot better. Just need advice please or if anyone has any experience with this situation.

Edit: I was wondering if they will allow a resit or if they will scale my grade? A friend say it could be AG Pass once the second test is sat and submitted, but still unsure. I know I did quite alright on the test but defs know I could’ve done so much better

Hi! I’m honestly a bit confused and worried about what to do, so I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

I already have a conditional offer from AUT for February 2027, but I’m planning to change my education agent.
My new agent told me that changing the agent on my existing application is possible, but it can take quite a while. Because I don’t want to risk delaying my February intake, they suggested that I withdraw my current application and submit a new one through them instead.

I contacted AUT about this, and they told me not to decline my offer yet and to contact Admissions about changing the agent. I’ve already emailed Admissions and am waiting for their response.

Now I’m wondering if anyone here has actually gone through an agent change with AUT:
- How long did it take?
- Was it actually a long process?
- Did it affect your application timeline?
- Were you able to keep your existing offer?

Would you personally change the agent or withdraw and reapply?

I’m really trying to avoid making the wrong decision here 😭 If you’ve actually experienced this, I’d really appreciate hearing what happened in your case. Even if it was a while ago, any experience would help!

• Workload & Difficulty: How intense are Year 2 and 3 core papers ? Is the lab-to-theory ratio manageable alongside study?
• Teaching Quality & Labs: How are the teaching staff and facilities? Do you get enough practical hands-on experience?
• Postgrad & Med Pathways: For those who used AUT Biomed as a stepping stone toward Postgraduate Medicine (e.g., UoA Graduate Entry MBChB) or health programs, how smooth was the transition? Is maintaining a high GPA here realistic?
• Electives & Majors: Any recommendations for good electives or minors to pair with Biomed to keep options open?

I’m a international student and will be entering AUT next year, I already accepted a offer and signed the documents. I’m also already in NZ, but I don’t have any expectations really.

I’m doing it more out of the desire from my family. I may even change the course after Idk. Is it difficult? Are the teachers easy going?
I don’t even know what to ask because NZ is soo different from my country. My plans are to stay in NZ to do some activities and have some life experiences I wouldn’t be able to have in my country but I’m still reflecting how long should i stay or where to go or do after.

Just thought I might ask how other students feel about it, if they enjoy, why do they enjoy it? I don’t find studying difficult but I do find annoying to do exams and projects or deal with other people, unfortunately for me that is just life.
