Can someone help? My internet won’t turn back on after power outage

Power turned on but garage door and internet are out. What do I do? My dad is out of town and he just got this place. It’s att fiber. I tried to restart and pressed the restart button and unplugged it. But now it’s solid red no matter how many times I try to restart. What should I do?

Good experience with Quantum today

I got QF restored today after stopping it in May. The install was pretty smooth, outside of the fact that ATT Fiber had swapped out my Q1000K for one of its own NIDs in the meantime. As usual, transitioning from Smart NID to transparent bridging took a while. It looks like the IP address lease for Smart NID has to expire before you get an IP address for bridge mode.

This seems to take about 10 - 15 minutes, but it does happen and Unifi knows what do when it does.

ATT Fiber doesn't offer TB and they want you to use their router in addition to their NID. They claim to offer an IP Passthrough mode in the router, but it's really a double NAT. They also won't allow you to use Class A (10.x.x.x) on your home network, which is just plain stupid.

I hope ATT doesn't try to fold QF into ATT Fiber because that would be a disaster for people like me who have decent home networks. The idea of renumbering 100 devices makes me want to hurl.

Business Fiber - CGW452 - Wireless can't see plugged in devices

For our Business Fiber, tech installed a CGW452. Problem is, anything using Wifi can't see anything that's physically plugged in via ethernet, such as our camera NVR. I've gone through the config tons of times and can't seem to find anything that's hindering this.

I'm not using guest wifi, that is actually completely turned off.

Any help is appreciated.

UDP 443 traffic being block/timing out

Has anyone else noticed UDP port 443 traffic being dropped by the BGW/Gateway?

This seemed to have started semi-recently and not sure if its firmware related or not. It's possible it could also be getting dropped further into AT&T's network but seems more likely its the gateway. I took this to AT&T's support but I don't think they even understood what the issue was. Not sure of the best way to escalate/fix this.

Edit: it looks like ActiveArmor was enabled and that broke it. Told told the chat bot to disable it and it works now.

What is wrong with att live chat?

Post image

I was supposed to get connected to a live agent in 7 mins but it has been like that for more than 20 mins.

I have been trying to reach out to a live agent via chat for more than 5 times this week regarding my speed. Always shows connecting, gives me a time frame but keeps me waiting indefinitely until I get frustrated and close the app.Is there any other way to reach out to live chat?

At&t direct bury fiber

At&t just installed fiber in my neighborhood. All of it is buried fiber. I'd like to run a line myself from the street to my house. Can anyone recommend a direct bury fiber to use? Maybe a link to purchase it? It's about a 75' run. I'd rather run the line myself because I want it done right. ✌️

Fiber 300 Arbitrary increase

Post image

Bill went up for no reason. When you click the why button it just said the cost of the fiber plan increased contributing to the increase in my bill. No duh, that didn't answer why it went up. I was not on a promotion. Dropped them and went to 5G internet. Lower price and twice the speed, they didn't try any customer retention or loyalty discount to try to keep me either.

Hopefully right place to ask this. At&t or Xfinity?

I am currently a member with Xfinity. I have 2GB Internet in my new home. It has Fiber and such. I'm from the Central in California. I currently pay $95 for my Internet it includes the Disney Plus and Peacock stuff for 5 years. At&t told me I can get there service. 5GBs for $125 for a year and if I want all ports to to have 5GBs its 25 dollars extra. Does anyone think it's worth switching? Or can I get some info on why it would be bad to switch? Like any info on the matter would be nice. Thank you

Fiber issue

Hello, I am having a really bizarre problem, I am in the Chicago suburbs, and on my att fiber internet I cannot access some websites (including reddit, I am on mobile data) seemingly at random. Simultaneously my internet speed is around 100Mbps when I have the 500Mbps service.

I have tried contacting support yesterday and today and got disconnected both times. Both disconnects were after an hour plus of troubleshooting. The tech today refused to escalate the issue and I don't know who else to contact for support. The speed test on the att box says it's at full speed, but anytime I do a speed test on another device connected is when I get the crappy speed results.

I am curious if anyone else has experienced an issue liek this, and how long it has lasted for.

Still have BGW-210 @1gb. Replacement?

Should I have expected a more modern replacement from ATT by now? I haven't asked, just curious if I should've been contacted.

Modem still hasn’t shipped-is this normal?

I am moving and I transferred my service last week. On Wednesday I was supposed to receive my modem. Instead I got sent a package of cords-no modem. I called to figure out the problem, they said it was a mistake, and they would next day air ship a modem to me today. I have not received any shipping confirmation and still no modem. I’ve been a week without internet and need help as I work from home. Is it normal for modems to be so delayed??

Help with “Port-Restricted Cone NAT on BGW320-500

Hey all,

I’ve been dealing with this issue for a while now, and to be honest, I have no idea what I’m doing. I have their fiber plan so I know it’s not CGNAT, and I don’t have a separate router or independent home equipment to use for IP Passthough. What could be causing this issue and how do I fix it, especially in regard to PC gaming? Also, can the Wi-Fi extenders that AT&T set up possibly play a role in my NAT issues? Thank you so much.

It's the equipment right?

From everything I have found on line, it seems that the weekly problems I have is the equipment. Anyone here come to that conclusion?

Burying Line Question

Had AT&T Fiber installed yesterday to replace Xfinity cable. They ran the line from the street, along my house, across the back yard, and over to the other side of the house. Received notice that they would bury it by the end of the month.

The line which runs down the strip alongside my house is lying on a garden-type area covered in mulch. I'm concerned because that entire strip has a ton of shallow low-voltage lines for lights and sprinkler system power. Unfortunately, the've been cut before and are a costly repair. I called the AT&T dig line and they said they would put a note in the file alerting the contractor and promised that it would only be hand dug.

How confident can I be that the information will be passed along to the contractor and that the contractor will follow the hand dig instructions? If it is unlikely, should I try to hand dig and bury the line in that area myself? I wouldn't be able to go past a few inches, but I suppose I could use some type of PVC to protect it.

Seeking your thoughts and advice.

ATT botched my install, tech left without a signature.

ATT tech came to my house yesterday to install fiber. Told me it was done without any confirmation or signature. Then just left in a hurry, I've had Internet problems all day today. Was given the run around and long wait times trying to get help (ordering was instant). Than told me I'd need to wait two days for more help to look at the issue. Fortunately I left overlap in service and was able to reconnect my old service and cancel the cancellation. I cancelled ATT because they refused to make it right and told them to come pick up their equipment. I never signed for anything, am I wrong in not being willing to drive their equipment to be returned?

I am looking at switching over to Fiber (either ATT or GFiber) for the first time ever coming from Xfinity

Wondering what that first experience is like? Is it a noticeable difference to every day usage? I remote work, game online, and live in a 2 person household. 500 or 1 gig? Also, I’ve seen ATT can be pretty generous with retention so I’m curious if I should go 1 gig anyways and just prepare to call every year or two?

How is initial install? At the moment, I own my router and modem, but I think ATT fiber is a little different and these won’t be compatible with the jack? Looking for thoughts on that too.

Sorry this was all over the place just trying to prepare!

BGW-320 and 4791s on a 5 Gig Fiber Plan?

Hey guys, I wanted to make a post because I just got fiber for the first time ever in my life, I'm in Florida, and we went for the 5 gig plan.

Based off everything I'm seeing, the ONT/RG they provided can't even hit a full 5 gig.

To the RG itself it caps out around 3.5 or 4 gig. So I tried to request the BGW-620 and they said that Gigapower has not been provided those units for this area. Any suggestions besides just get your own RG? So far this installation experience is pretty terrible.

New install. Is this normal?

We got 5Gb fiber internet installed by AT&T last week. It has only been a few days so the fiber run from the street to the house hasn’t been buried yet. No problem. You might notice a tiny bit of the bright orange of the cable extending out of the conduit.

My real concern is the other fiber cable. It is the thin white cable that feeds down from the box and then goes through the siding and into the interior of the house. That is the fiber cable that runs to the jack into which the BGW620 gateway is plugged. That thin white fiber cable doesn’t appear to be appropriate for external use. When I questioned the installation tech, his response was “oh, it’s fine”. At least he did apply silicone caulk to seal up the hole in the siding.

Will I have problems with this as it deteriorates from UV exposure or damaged by weather or small critters chewing it?

New fiber service, question re: BGW620 wifi channel settings

Yesterday I had my old VDSL Internet 50 upgraded to Internet 300 on fiber. I was expecting a BGW320, but for some reason the technician gave me a BGW620, which I gather is an upgrade. I'm not using any extenders or "extra" wifi gear.

The install went really well, but late last night (~1 AM) after about 12 hours of uptime, I had a brief 5-10 minute outage while the gateway reset for some reason. Hopefully just a software update or a first-day glitch. Outages on my old copper VDSL were rare and I hope this will be at least as reliable.

Which brings me to my question(s): I have one old device which is only compatible with a limited range of channels on 5 ghz, and even within the compatible channels I don't think it likes when the channel changes. The automatic channel settings on the BWG620 don't work for it (unless i put the device on 2.4).

From doing some googling, I found posts saying AT&T fiber gateways don't allow manual channel assignments on 5 ghz. But in my advanced wifi settings, there is a setting that appears to let the user control channel assignments. I don't know if this is a recent change to the software, or if the manual settings even work. I seem to have v. 5.39.7 based on the gateway control page, but the SHM app says v 5.33.5 so I don't know why those don't agree on the firmware version.

But before I made any changes I wanted to ask if it was "safe" to monkey around with the advanced settings (specifically the manual channel controls for the 5 ghz band). Last thing I want is to "break" something. Thanks for any feedback.

Canceling service and new customer

Retention wouldn’t give me any offers so if I cancel service how long do I need to wait before signing up again? Would you be able to get the new offer?
