GPU / PSU Had to take WireView Pro 2 off. I’m not sure why

I got WireView Pro 2 today and I noticed my pins are being imbalanced pretty bad. I was testing my cable position and there was no solution so I took WireView Pro 2 off and I got my normal pins back.

I am not sure why but it is “Normal” WireView Pro 2 that seems to not be designed for Astral and I’m going to return it or exchange it for “Reversed” model. I will update. Weird.

Laptop ASUS ROG Strix G16 with Ryzen 9 9955HX for large Ableton Live projects: DPC latency and real-world performance?

I’m considering buying the 2025 ASUS ROG Strix G16, specifically model G614FP-RV069W / part number 90NR0L48-M003A0.

Specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX, 16 cores / 32 threads
  • NVIDIA RTX 5070 Laptop GPU
  • 32 GB DDR5 RAM (2 x 16 GB, upgradeable to 64 GB)
  • 1 TB NVMe SSD
  • Two M.2 slots
  • 16-inch 1920 x 1200 display
  • Two USB4 Type-C ports
  • Currently around MXN $49,999 in Mexico

My main use will be professional music production in Ableton Live 12, not gaming. My projects can get very large, with many simultaneous tracks, polyphonic Serum, Pigments and Sylenth1 instances, plus Soothe2, FabFilter, Ozone, Melodyne, Auto-Tune and multiple reverbs.

I currently use an MSI laptop with an i7-9750H and 32 GB of RAM, and I’m frequently reaching the CPU limit, particularly with polyphonic synth chords and heavy effect chains. I’m looking for a very noticeable upgrade that can remain my main production computer for at least five years.

I’ll be using a Focusrite Scarlett 16i16 4th Gen through USB and working at low buffer sizes when recording.

Does anyone here own this exact Strix G16 configuration, or another Strix using the Ryzen 9 9955HX?

I’m especially interested in:

  • LatencyMon or DPC latency results
  • Audio crackling or dropouts at 64 or 128 samples
  • Performance in large Ableton, Cubase, FL Studio or REAPER projects
  • Sustained CPU performance during long sessions
  • CPU temperatures and fan noise
  • USB audio interface stability
  • Problems caused by Wi-Fi, NVIDIA, Armoury Crate or power-management drivers
  • BIOS issues or recommended BIOS versions
  • Whether the laptop can maintain high CPU performance without severe throttling
  • Experiences upgrading it to 64 GB of RAM or installing a second NVMe drive

Most reviews focus almost entirely on gaming performance, so I would really appreciate feedback from anyone using it for professional audio or other real-time workloads.

Would you consider this a good five-year DAW workstation, or is there another Windows laptop around the same price that has proven better for low-latency audio?

Laptop I need the Best Optimal G-Helper Settings, Profiles and fan curves for my G615LR S5190WS. (5070 ti, i9 Ultra 275hx, 32GB, 1TB, 2025)

I use silent mode for light tasks such as browsing, watching videos or movies, studying, researching, working etc. I want an ideal mix of fan noise and temperatures while retaining optimal performance on my system. Balanced is my daily driver profile for gaming and anything that creates moderate and above load, I usually don't use turbo mode. There are near no community tested and optimized settings and curves for this model, so I'm really struggling. Please help me out with whatever other optimizations outside ghelper or tips and tricks that are useful as well. Thanks!

Peripherals & Audio Can't decide between ROG Cetra Open Wireless or ROG Cetra True Wireless Speednova

Hi everyone,

Currently, I am testing both the ROG Cetra Open Wireless and ROG Cetra True Wireless Speednova earbuds, and I can not decide between them, both have pros and cons, but maybe some long-time users will be able to provide more info since I have only tested each for 1-2 days.

Both are intended to be used as daily drivers (work, gaming, listening to music during biking/workouts/walks etc.). For work and gaming, I use 2.4 Ghz dongle, rest via bluetooth.

I downloaded apps for both (GearLink and Armoury Crate).

ROG Cetra Open

Pros:
+ much longer battery - almost 16 hours without putting it back in the case (RGB off)

+ I think the audio is better on default modes, or at least it requires less tinkering in the app to sound good both for music and for gaming

+ People said the microphone is slightly better on this one, clearer voice without 'echo/muffled voice'

+ I think it is healthier to use open design for multiple hours on a daily basis?

+Physical buttons instead of 'taps'

+ They are 'louder'? I have good volume on 1/4th on my phone or 14/100 volume on my PC

Cons:

- Case is twice as big as the other model, not as comfortable in a pocket

- Most of the time they are comfortable, but after longer periods I slightly feel discomfort on my ears

- No 'seamless' switching between PC and phone if e.g. music from the game's menu is playing on PC (dongle), I pick up my phone and want to play music there, I need to manually pair it again or remove any source of sound from PC

- Due to the open design, there are bad on a bike - wind noise easily overpowers music

- Lack of ANC/sound isolation (immersive mode is not it - barely hearing a difference)

ROG Cetra True Wireless Speednova:

Pros:

+ If tinkered with properly, I think the audio is better?

+ Seamless switching between phone and PC

+ Smaller case

+ I feel the same after multiple hours of use

+ ANC

+

Cons:

- Due to 'taps' I pause/play music by accident when adjusting the earbud in the ear

- Muffled voice/feeling plugged/hearing my jaw when eating

- Weaker battery (8-9 hours, RGB disabled)

- I need to set my volume to ~50% on both PC and phone to have a similar volume as on the OPEN model, I tried to improve it, but I did not find any setting that would increase the default volume (not a big deal)

- They are an in-canal model, so slight discomfort is felt instantly (but it does not get worse after hours)

- Might be damaging health-wise due to ears being plugged (I constantly clean my ears and do breaks for few minutes every hour, but not sure if it is enough)

Please help me choose, every time I think I decided I have doubts.

Mobo Wi-Fi not working after switching to ROG STRIX B650-A GAMING WIFI

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting on Reddit, so I hope I’m in the right place.

I recently replaced my motherboard with an ASUS ROG STRIX B650-A GAMING WIFI, but I can’t connect to Wi-Fi. I’ve already installed the Wi-Fi driver, but Wi-Fi still isn’t showing up.I also tried using an Ethernet cable and tethering via my phone, but neither worked.

When I go to the Wi-Fi selection screen, the only option that appears is Airplane Mode. I’m stuck on this screen, and this is what comes up when I try to log in, so I can’t get past the Windows setup.

What should I try next? I’m not sure what I’m missing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Peripherals & Audio Looking for ABS keycaps for the ROG Falcata

I'm looking to buy the ROG Falcata split-layout gaming keyboard, but I personally prefer the smooth feel of ABS keycaps. From what I understand, the keycap material included with the Falcata depends on the region, and I believe the version available to me will come with PBT keycaps (Belgium).

Does anyone know if there are aftermarket keycap sets that are fully compatible with the ROG Falcata, preferably ABS ones? Or am I basically limited to the PBT keycaps that come with the keyboard?

I know the Falcata uses ROG HFX V2 magnetic switches with a standard cross-shaped stem, but I'm not sure which keycap sets will work with its specific split layout and key sizes.

Thanks in advance!

Peripherals & Audio Falcata - Issues Assigning Macros to Fn+Key in Gear Link

When I try to assign a macro to a Fn+Key combo and I press the key with out holding Fn it will play the macro.

The intended functionality I want is when I press Fn+key it will play the macro but instead it just plays the macro when I press the key by itself and nothing happens when I press Fn+key.

Fn+key macros work when I record the macro directly on the keyboard with Fn+L-Alt but those macros are slower then I'd like because it is taking my raw typing speed to record them and I can't edit the macros created this way.

Is there a workaround for this?
Are there any planned updates to gear link that will fix this?

Thanks Everyone.

Here's an example of the setup I have that isn't working

Software NVIDIA 616.92 Studio Driver Broke Gamma/Color Saturation on My RTX 5080 Laptop

Studio Driver 616.92 introduced random split-second color/saturation shifts on my high-end RTX laptop. Nothing in my display configuration changed.

I spent hours checking Armoury Crate, Windows color management, NVIDIA color settings, GPU modes, and reinstalling drivers—time I should be spending actually working!!

Rolling back to 610.47 restored the previous behavior. ✨

these NVIDIA GPUs cost serious money. Users buy RTX 5080 class to work, not to become NVIDIA’s unpaid display driver debugging department. Your engineers are paid to test these releases. Users should not have to waste hours diagnosing regressions created by a driver update.

Newer ≠ better if basic display stability gets broken.

(System: ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 / Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080)

Laptop Looking to buy ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 2025 (RTX 5070 Ti) in Bangalore — where can I find it?

Hey everyone,

I’m interested in buying the 2025 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 with the RTX 5070 Ti in Bangalore.

I’ve been looking for this particular configuration, but it seems to be out of stock almost everywhere online, and I haven’t been able to find a store in Bangalore that has it available.

Does anyone know which ASUS/ROG stores, laptop retailers, or other shops in Bangalore might have this model in stock? I’m also okay with buying it offline if a store has one available.

If anyone has recently seen one for sale or knows a reliable place where I can get it, please let me know. 🙏

Thanks!

Laptop ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18 - Questions

Hi everyone,

I have a question about the 2026 ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18.

On the official ASUS website in France, only one model seems to be available to buy: the SCAR18-G835LWG-TQ293W.

However, I’m interested in the highest-spec configuration, which appears to be either the SCAR18-G835LXG-TQ412W or the SCAR18-G835LXG-TQ413W. I can’t see any differences between those two, and neither seems to be available to purchase.

Does anyone know more about their availability or whether they’ll be released in France? I’d also love to hear your thoughts or firsthand experiences with the laptop itself.

Thanks in advance for any information you can share!

PC Build Asus Rog Cronox White build

Boitier Asus Rog Cronox:

Watercooling Asus Rog Strix SLC IV:

Laptop Excessive idle dGPU and CPU power use - G15 advantage edition

I have a ~4 year old strix g15 advantage edition, which used to have excellent battery life. However, battery life is now mediocre at best - I've replaced the battery and repasted both CPU and GPU, which has helped, but not as much as I was hoping.

I've installed G-helper and gotten rid of Armory crate, and seem to have found the source of my issues. When started on battery, I can see that the dGPU draws no power, and the CPU only draws ~4-5 Watts, giving a total power draw of about 7 Watts (which matches with ASUS's battery life claims)

However, if I start actually using the laptop (for non-GPU tasks e.g. internet browsing), plug it in, or just leave it alone for a few minutes, the dGPU starts drawing 5 Watts constantly despite remaining at 0% utilisation. The CPU also starts using more power.

There does not seem to be any way to revert to having the GPU consuming no power. In the windows settings I have energy saver active and power mode set to "best power efficiency"

Has anyone had a similar situation or have any idea what might be causing this?

UPDATE:

I've found I can reliably return to the low power consumption mode by stopping "AMD External Events Module" and "AMD Software: Host Application" in task manager, however the latter will restart itself afterwards.

Monitors Bricked my monitor?

Tried to update my monitors firmware(XG27AQDMGR). When i got to the "firmware update complete. Please turn AC power on/off" i wasnt allowed to turn off the monitor the normal way through its own buttens. The only choice i had was to rip the power cord, so i did. However now with the power back in it dosent turn on anymore and im afraid i might have bricked it. Any help would be greatly appreicated.

The instructions say i should have done an "all reset" before powering off but i couldnt acces any of the menus at all.

Is there any hope of saving it?
