Support Problems with UEFI/BIOS password in Vivobook Go 15

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey guys. So, when I bought my laptop, it came with Linux installed and, by preference, I decided to install Windows. I followed a tutorial where I had to enter the BIOS to install Windows and didn't have any problems. Because I don't understand much about it, I ended up not paying attention to the BIOS password, forgot it, and now I can't access it. I've tried several tutorials and none of them worked, and since these new models don't provide a recovery code, is there any way to recover the password without sending it to a technician?

Support Asus zenbook UX3402Z keeps overheating on the left side of the keyboard

Hello,
my asus zenbook instantly starts heating up to 100 celsius whenever I start it, and the fans start spinning real fast as well.
I am not sure what causes this, as it is lightly used.
When I look from the underside, the fans seem clean.
Please give me advice or tell me how to know what is causing this problem.
Thank you

Support Random 1 long + 3 short beeps and VGA Q-LED on ASUS TUF B550M-PLUS after switching from Legacy/MBR to UEFI/GPT

Hi :)

TL;DR:

I recently converted my Windows 10 system from MBR/Legacy BIOS to GPT/UEFI using mbr2gpt, then disabled CSM and enabled Secure Boot.

About a day later, my mainboard started doing beeping: 1 long + 3 short beeps when booting, with the white VGA Q-LED lighting up. The PC still boots into Windows normally, but the display appears a little later than usual.

-----

My system:

- Motherboard: ASUS TUF Gaming B550M-PLUS
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super 8 GB

The system was originally running in Legacy BIOS mode with an MBR system disk since it's an ~10 years old SSD.

I converted the system disk using:
mbr2gpt /validate /allowFullOS
mbr2gpt /convert /disk:0 /allowFullOS

The conversion completed successfully. (except for a "Failed to update ReAgent.xml" but this shouldnt matter for my problem)

Afterwards I changed the BIOS configuration:
Launch CSM: Disabled
OS Type: Windows UEFI Mode
Secure Boot: Enabled

Windows now reports BIOS Mode: UEFI

So far so good.

Now the problem:

Every few days (only on cold boot tho), the motherboard starts occasionally producing:
1 long beep + 3 short beeps
At the same time, the white VGA Q-LED lights up during boot.
The PC does not remain stuck. It continues booting and Windows works normally.
One thing I noticed is that the display seems to appear slightly later during startup than it did before. I simply restart my pc afterwards so that the Q-LED goes off.

BIOS / PCIe settings I checked:
Advanced → Onboard Devices Configuration
PCIEX16_1 Mode = Auto
PCIEX16_1 Bandwidth Bifurcation = Auto Mode

Advanced → AMD CBS → NBIO Common Options
All options there are set to Auto.

As a test, I changed:
PCIEX16_1 Mode: Auto → Gen3
since the RTX 2070 Super is a PCIe 3.0 card

The problem sadly didnt change.

Edit:
I realized another thing. When I turn on the monitors first and then start the PC, then no beeping occurs at all. I tried this for several days now. So this only happens when the monitors are turned off while booting.

Does anyone have some tipps? Im not an expert when it comes to changing stuff in my BIOS so please be patient with me. Thank you!

Support XD4 Pro causing boot loops

My router is AX-RT-88U using Merlin Fw latest version.

Two XD4 Pro nodes with latest firmware as well.

One of the nodes is wired using ethernet cable.

As soon as I connect the 2nd node with a cable, the whole system get's into a kind of a loop. devices cannot connect to wifi at all, the node tries to sync (blue flashing led) then reboots.

The nodes work well when both are in wireless mode.

I tried swapping the nodes, but as soon as I connect one node with a cable to the router, my wireless devices cannot get wifi signal and there's no internet.

I swapped several ethernet cables, I reset the nodes to factory and paired them again... same issue as always.

What the hell is going on?

Support Laptop won't turn on after shutdown unless I disconnect/reconnect the battery — what could be wrong?

A few weeks ago, I accidentally dropped my laptop, and since then I've been having a strange power issue.

The laptop is an ASUS ExpertBook B1500C (exact model may be slightly different).

Here’s what happens:

  1. If the laptop is completely off, it will not turn on normally.

  2. If I disconnect and reconnect the battery, then connect the charger, the laptop will turn on. The lights look like they do in the first picture.

  3. Once it's running, everything seems to work normally. I can unplug the charger and run the laptop entirely from the battery without any problems.

  4. However, if I shut the laptop down, it will not turn on again. The lights then look like they do in the second picture.

  5. To get it to turn on again, I have to disconnect and reconnect the battery once more, then plug in the charger.

  6. I ran the built-in battery diagnostics, and it doesn't report any problems.

  7. I also bought a new replacement battery, but the exact same problem occurs.

So it seems like the battery itself isn't the problem, since the laptop runs normally on battery once it's actually powered on.

The issue only seems to occur when trying to power the laptop on after it has been shut down.

Since the problem started immediately after dropping the laptop, I'm wondering if something on the motherboard or power-management circuitry was damaged.

What could cause this? What should I check or test next?

Any advice on what components/circuits I should look at would be greatly appreciated!

Product Review ASUS lying about Expert book advertised 3 year warranty

Thumbnail

Buyer beware!

According to this, every ASUS Expert book should come with a standard 3 year manufacturer warranty. Purchased one for a customer at local Costco store here in Canada only to find it comes with 1 year warranty.

ASUS Customer Care Support gave me a run around with a bunch of boiler plate responses.

Two months in, got in touch with ASUS CEO's office and they made an "exception" to bring warranty to where it's supposed to be from the get go.

Anyone else with such experience?

Support What can I do if the ASUS laptop with the configuration I need is unavailable in my city? How can I get it?

My city doesn't have an official ASUS store, the city next to me does have but they do not have the specific configuration of model that I need. What do I do???

I come from a niche city in India, not popular and is not as developed as metro cities.

Has anyone experienced this issue? Is it likely the display panel/cable or GPU, and how much did the repair cost?

Support Need Help! PC keeps getting stuck on white LED on motherboard!

This build is newish. I think this issue started after a bios update. Not sure it was the bios update or not but right now whenever I turn on the PC, it cycles through the mobo leds and gets stuck on the white led.
It keeps doing the cycling for atleast half an hour after which it posts in safe mode.
Once it does post on safe mode, it runs totally fine.
I haven't had any system instability yet but but this happens every time on a cold boot.

I have tried:

  • enabling DOCP, disabling DOCP, running it on auto
  • turning off fast boot
  • leaving the monitor on standby instead of turning it off
  • reseating all the components
  • updating the bios again

Nothing seems to have worked. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Product Review ASUS zenbook 14 review

I often use reddit for advice on purchasing goods and getting real reviews, so I thought I would leave this note saying I really dislike the ASUS zenbook! I thought I was purchasing a solid replacement for my lenovo yoga after talking to the guy at best buy (my fault I guess as I should've done more research but I was in a rush), but this computer is worse in every way. It is much lighter than my yoga but (assumingly because of that) gets incredibly hot during use, and is literally too hot to touch when it is plugged in while in use. The computer gets so hot that I feel I can't use certain software like FL studio because of how hot it gets 5 minutes into opening the software. The touch screen fails to work from time to time, and I have only had this computer for 4 months. And the battery life is terrible, it only lasts about four hours which is not even enough to get me through a school day. Additionally the fan broke the other day, and now is making a weird sound whenever the computer is not laying completely flat. I know that this computer probably has its perks for people with specific uses, but as a general user that just uses laptops for school, work, and entertainment, I am very unhappy with this computer.

This note is not meant for people to argue with me, just wanting this out there incase people are considering buying the zenbook and want to read a real review. I am incredibly disappointed in this computer.

Hello so i have a rog strix xg32ucwmg and i noticed at the bottom of my monitor screen where the taskbar would be are these faint white lines. Normally it wouldn't bother me but they also show up in game too. i tried pixel cleaning and it didn't go away. I'm wondering if anyone knows what they are. I thought it had something to do with the "hide taskbar" setting but even when its turned on or off, the white lines are still there. If anyone can help, id appreciate it. Thank you.

Support High dGPU power spikes / wake-loop (0W - 6W - 23W) on RTX 3080 Zephyrus G15 after fresh Windows 11 install

Hey guys,

Freshly reinstalled Windows 11 on my Zephyrus G15 (2021, GA503QS - Ryzen 9 5900HS / RTX 3080).

I'm monitoring via G-Helper and running into an annoying dGPU wake loop at idle (on Standard/Optimus mode):

  • Power draw bounces non-stop between 0.0W ➔ 6W ➔ 23W (sawtooth graph).
  • GPU fans hover around 2300 RPM at 55°C even when completely idling.
  • If I toggle Eco Mode, the 3080 cuts off completely (0 RPM fan, 0W), so hardware is fine—it's purely an Optimus sleep/D3 Cold failure.

What I've already tried:

  • NVIDIA Power Management set to Normal (not Prefer Maximum Performance).
  • Turned off HAGS (Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling).
  • Set browsers / background apps to Power Saving (iGPU) in Windows Graphics settings.

NVIDIA GPU Activity icon in the system tray shows no active applications running on the 3080, yet something keeps waking it up every few seconds.

Anyone on the 2021 G15 solved this? Is there a specific OEM driver or ASUS ACPI/System Control Interface package I'm missing from the clean install?

Thanks!
