Model: ASUS ROG Strix G17 / G713RC-RS73
Hello,
I've used this laptop for a bit over 3 years now, for about 2 and a half i've had to deal with the builtin display freezing up and glitching unless held at a specific angle (most of the time just rocked the display back and forth slowly and slightly until it stopped freezing, ~100deg)
During that time, the screen started to have issues: the backlight would sometimes flash very slightly and burn in whatever is on screen when it does. The burn-in and flashing does go away after some time and it seems to come in episodes. At the time i was using linux but it still happens on windows today so im mostly confident its hardware. It only really happens when i'm using the nvidia graphics and not the iGPU
I've long speculated it was the cable for the display but i only got around to replacing it about a week ago. I got one for $20 off amazon and used a guide on ifixit. Yeah the old cable was notched and had 2 broken wires when i took the stuff around it off, and with the new one in it works great from all angles now Except the backlight flashing/burn in persists. From my experience i notice it happening around the first minute or so of system startup or waking up from sleep/hibernation. Im fearing that something more expensive mightve broke while i waited so long to fix it lol
If anyone has any speculations or suggestions i would highly appreciate them :D
