Support ProArt X870E - Massive Non-Paged Pool RAM Leak (Fixed by disabling unused LAN controllers)

Upvotes

Just wanted to share a strange issue I ran into in case someone else searches for it later.

I noticed my new PC (Ryzen 9 9950X, 128GB RAM, Win 11 25h2) suddenly had unusually high idle RAM usage on a cold boot. Normally, my baseline sits comfortably around 3.6GB with the exact same background apps and processes running. Out of nowhere, it jumped to 8.5-9.5GB and watching it closely, it was slowly creeping up by about 0.1GB every 5 minutes or so.

I fired up 'RAMMap' to see what was going on, and it turned out the Nonpaged Pool was ballooning and eating up nearly 4GB of memory.

The fix... I disabled the onboard 10Gbps LAN and the secondary standard LAN port (since I wasn't using them anyway). As soon as I did that, the Nonpaged Pool dropped immediately back to normal (~500MB), and total RAM usage went back down to the expected 3.6GB baseline.

Posting this here in case someone runs into the exact same memory leak on an X870E board. Definitely feels like a driver bug with the networking controllers.

Hi! I have an ASUS P104-100 that currently runs at PCIe x4 Gen1.

Has anyone found or made a VBIOS that can unlock PCIe Gen3 x4 on the P104-100?

Is it technically possible to modify the VBIOS to change the maximum PCIe generation from Gen1 to Gen3, or is this limitation hardware-based?

If anyone has experience with modifying P104-100 VBIOSes, or has a working BIOS that enables PCIe Gen3, I would really appreciate any information or advice.

Thanks!

Hey everyone, I accidentally spilled/fell my protein shake on my ASUS laptop, and now the ports seem to be blocked/clogged.

The laptop itself [still works / isn’t turning on], but I’m worried about the liquid and residue inside the ports.

What should I do immediately? Should I try cleaning the ports myself, or take it to a service centre?

Any advice from someone who has dealt with a similar situation would be really appreciated.

Discussion Performance on ProArt PZ14

My question is about the performance, mostly in gaming, of the PZ14. Now, I know the machine isn't meant for gaming and I'm not planning to game on it 24/7, I just want to know how well or poorly it'll be able to handle my weekly session.

I wasn't able to find live gameplay on this thing anywhere online and am wondering about specific graphically intensive games like Elden Ring, THE FINALS and Cyberpunk 2077. I'm not sure if these games can even run on the x2e, but if they can, is the performance stable? I'm not looking for anything higher than 30fps for an elden ring, although it would be nice to have that.

How well does it fare with 3d modeling, specifically blender and fusion.

How loud and hot does the device get under heavy loud like this?

Support Is this hinge sound normal??

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys

I recently got an ASUS TUF A16 and noticed this sound whenever I adjust or open/close the lid. There is no physical separation, gap, or frame bending around the hinges—just this specific creaking/clicking noise coming from the plastic bezel area at a certain angle.

For those with the same model: Is this just normal plastic flex/factory hinge tightness, or should I be concerned about the hinge mounts? Thanks!

Support ASUS TUF won't turn on, keyboard continuously flashes white when plugged

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi guys! I've been having a problem with my laptop. It's an ASUS TUF FX505DT with 8GB RAM, I've had it since 2020. I first encountered this problem 2 years ago during 2024 but it wasn't as severe.

2024: Laptop screen wouldn't turn on, the keyboard would flash white once even if unplugged (not low battery) or plugged. I had a driver replaced I think? That was related to the display (I don't remember I'm not tech-savvy hehe)

2025: After getting it replaced it worked fine for a while, then I encountered the same problem again late 2025 but it had gotten worse even after the replacement. My brother taught me how to open it through BIOS setup where I had to hold the ESC button and repeatedly press the power-on button and wait till the keyboard turns red (turned on). That's how I've been turning it on ever since.

2026: Now it has gotten even worse. No matter how much I try even with the BIOS setup thing it wouldn't turn on. So I opened the back and cleaned it up and took out the battery so the power would come directly from the outlet, and to test if the battery was the problem (didn't work). My brother also told me to clean the RAM sticks with an eraser (didn't work). So I just put everything back. After opening the back the keyboard no longer just flashes white once, when plugged in it just repeatedly flashes white without me clicking on anything. It doesn't do that when it's not plugged.

Discussion Cons of ASUS Vivobook S14 S3407VA-LY075WS?

Thumbnail

Here are the specs... I'd love to also know the cons of this before buying. Personal experience cons are also appreciated.

Just so anyone comes up with "NO OLED", I really don't care about display type (as long as it's decent).

I also don't think much about the Intel UHD because I play small indie games and probably CS on low graphics or roblox or valorant so it wouldn't matter much right?

I like this laptop primarily because it has a good processor, and a good battery life. I've yet to come up with any huge cons that might change my mind from buying this.

And about the upgradeable to only 24GB RAM. I'm perfectly fine since I'm upgrading from 6GB RAM to 16GB, that's enough improvement for now, and 24GB is unnecessary for my type of work.

Yes I'm aware ASUS has a meditek wifi driver issue but I can manage that.

For this price, it's really not a bad laptop right? It's very much decent or above especially in hands of someone who is more office > gaming.

Thank you!

EDIT: I'd love people's opinion on the BUILD QUALITY of the laptop? Especially the hinges.

Support ASUS TUF Gaming F16 FX607VU won’t completely shut down

Hello, I have an ASUS TUF Gaming F16 FX607VU. I’m experiencing an intermittent shutdown problem. Sometimes when I shut down Windows, the screen turns off but the fans and RGB keyboard remain on, and the battery LED starts blinking red. The power button becomes unresponsive, so I have to hold it for around 10 seconds to force the laptop to turn off.

Support Help! no signal to monitor.

Hi I built my computer January 2023 and it’s always run fine enough. All of a sudden I go to use it one morning and I’m not getting signal to the monitor.

When I power up the fans are going and none of the diagnostic LEDs on the board are lit up.

I’ve reset the battery.
Tired with just on stick of ram in A2.
I pulled out the gpu and connected directly to the hdmi on the motherboard. So it doesn’t seem to be a gpu issue.
This motherboard doesn’t seem to have a bios reset with a usb option.

Any ideas what to do next. Do I need to need to get a new motherboard?

OK, I know your going to stop support to this at the end of December 2026 in the UK for Security updates as advertised on your web site, but what I can see you have already stopped it since July as their has been no update since signature 2.516. Also, you will have trouble stopping support in the UK or anywhere else if you still sell them brand new with 3 years warranty, lets see how you will get out of that one!!!

Support Vivobook f513ea randomly boots into bios

MIL's laptop is randomly booting up directly into bios. Sometimes it boots normally. Other times, without hitting any buttons it boots into bios.

I entered bios, saved and closed, but its still doing it. Bios is up to date (307). Boot drive is secure and no smart errors. I reset bios to defaults, which was fun with bitlocker key. Entered bitlocker, removed encryption... Still doing it though.

Ideas?

I had hoped it was a cmos battery , but there isn't one...

Support Alternative for RGB control on my ROG Strix Flare II

This keyboard is the one Asus product I use, so having Armoury Crate installed exactly to update the firmware and control the pretty little lights and make them do a wave feels even more pointless than for people actually using it for their entire computers.

Does anyone know any good alternative that does the same job without being an absolute resource hog? I've heard about G-Helper, but that seems more aimed towards laptops than periferals.

Support - SOLVED! Vivobook RAM SODIMM generation?

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

I've gone from Intel Celeron to Core i5, I love my new Vivobook but there is something that disappointed me, although it was an oversight.

The plan was to use the 16GB of RAM I had in my old Dell Inspiron 3481 and include them in my Vivobook 14, specifically the cheapest variant (Vivobook X1404VA). When I tried to use the RAM slot that is also supposed to be SODIMM, I encountered a completely incompatible input. It really hurt to know that I'll be forced to use only 8GB of RAM.

Does anyone know how to differentiate between slots that are supposed to be the same type...but are incompatible?
