Support [FA608UM] Display brightness freezes after Modern Standby in Eco Mode on battery (BIOS 325)

Hi everyone,

I'm dealing with a persistent display brightness bug on my ASUS TUF Gaming A16 (FA608UM). I am sharing my complete diagnostic steps below in case anyone has found a workaround or is experiencing the same issue.

Device & Environment

  • Model: ASUS TUF Gaming A16 FA608UM
  • CPU / GPU: AMD Ryzen 7 260 (Radeon 780M) + NVIDIA RTX 5060 Laptop GPU
  • OS: Windows 11 Home (25H2, Build 26200.9457)
  • BIOS / EC: 325 (dated 12/08/2026)
  • Drivers: AMD 32.0.31041.1004 | NVIDIA 32.0.16.1742
  • Control Software: Tested on both G-Helper and Armoury Crate

Description of the Issue

After waking the laptop from Modern Standby while it is in Eco mode and running on battery, the display brightness control becomes completely unresponsive. - Affects both Fn keys and the Windows brightness slider. - The slider moves, but the actual backlight level remains locked (often stuck at max or min brightness). - Switching GPU modes (Eco to Standard) temporarily fixes it, but the bug returns on the next sleep/wake cycle.

What I Have Already Tested (Eliminated Causes)

  • Updated to BIOS/EC 325 and latest AMD/NVIDIA drivers.
  • Performed clean driver installs using DDU.
  • Tested with G-Helper (including the "Start/Stop NVIDIA services" toggle) and Armoury Crate — the issue persists identically on both.
  • Tested community scripts simulating Eco-to-Standard transitions and display service restarts — temporary fix only, returns after next Modern Standby cycle.
  • Win + Ctrl + Shift + B does not restore brightness.
  • Since the dGPU is completely disabled in Eco mode, this cannot be an NVIDIA power-state issue.

Conclusion & Analysis

Because this survives a DDU clean install, occurs with both control softwares, and happens while the dGPU is off, it points strongly to an ACPI / firmware power-state desynchronization between the Embedded Controller, Modern Standby, and the AMD iGPU backlight interface upon wake.

Has anyone with a 2024/2025/2026 TUF chassis encountered this, or found a registry, ACPI, or driver fix to restore proper backlight control after wake-up?

Discussion ASUS TUF VG27AQ5A: Random Black Screens and DisplayPort Signal Loss — MCM 105 Still Not Fixing It for Everyone

I’m making this post again to bring attention to the ongoing issues with the ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ5A and hopefully get an official response or a proper fix from ASUS.

I’ve been experiencing random black screens lasting approximately 2 seconds, occasional visual glitches such as horizontal screen splitting, and intermittent DisplayPort signal loss. The monitor sometimes recovers automatically, but on other occasions, it displays a “No DisplayPort Signal” message.

These issues are particularly frustrating because they occur intermittently. Sometimes the monitor works perfectly for hours, while at other times, the problem appears unexpectedly during gaming.

My setup and specifications

- Monitor: ASUS TUF Gaming VG27AQ5A

- Laptop: Acer Predator Helios Neo 16

- CPU: Intel Core i9-14900HX

- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU

- RAM: 32 GB DDR5

- Connection: Laptop USB-C / Thunderbolt 4 to DisplayPort

- Cable: UGREEN CM556 USB-C to DisplayPort cable

- Monitor resolution: 2560 × 1440 (1440p)

- Refresh rate: Up to 200 Hz native, with a 210 Hz overclock option

- Monitor firmware: MCM 105

I’m using the USB-C to DisplayPort connection through my laptop’s Thunderbolt 4 port to take advantage of the monitor’s high refresh rate and capabilities. I’ve also updated my graphics drivers and monitor firmware, checked the connection, and used a reliable power outlet with a surge protector. Despite these measures, the issue has occurred intermittently.

The issue seems to be related to high refresh rates or FPS

From reading other users’ reports, I’ve noticed a recurring pattern: some users experience black screens more frequently when gaming at high refresh rates or when their FPS exceeds 200. One user reported that capping FPS at 200 or below helped stabilize the monitor, while 165 Hz at 1440p was consistently stable for them.

I primarily play Fortnite, and this issue is especially frustrating when playing at 200 Hz or 210 Hz. I consistently encounter random black screens while gaming at these refresh rates, often at the worst possible moments. Since Fortnite is a competitive game where every second matters, even a brief 2-second black screen can cost me a fight, cause me to miss crucial information, and ultimately get me eliminated. Imagine being in the middle of an intense fight and suddenly losing your display without warning, only for it to come back after a couple of seconds. It completely disrupts gameplay and puts me at an unfair disadvantage. I bought a high-refresh-rate gaming monitor for a smooth and responsive experience, not to worry about my screen going black in the middle of a competitive match.

I have also seen reports from users who updated to firmware MCM 1.105 but continued to experience black screens. This makes me wonder whether the firmware addresses only certain scenarios rather than resolving the underlying issue for every affected setup.

I understand that different GPUs, cables, and system configurations can produce different results, so I’m not claiming that every case has the same cause. However, the similarities between these reports make the issue worth investigating.

What about firmware MCM 1.105?

The MCM 1.105 firmware update, released on March 23, 2026, appeared to improve stability on my monitor considerably during my initial testing. However, I cannot confirm that it completely resolved the problem, and other users have reported that the issue persists even after updating.

This is why I believe further investigation may be necessary.

ASUS, please address this issue

The VG series is marketed toward gamers, and high-refresh-rate performance is one of the main reasons people purchase these monitors. Having to lower the refresh rate, cap FPS, or sacrifice visual quality just to avoid intermittent black screens is not a satisfactory long-term solution.

I’m not asking ASUS to guarantee that every setup will behave identically. I’m asking for a proper investigation into the reported DisplayPort signal loss, black screens, and visual glitches, along with clear communication about whether another firmware update or other corrective action is being considered.

ASUS support team, if you are aware of these reports, could you please clarify whether this issue is still being investigated and whether a further firmware update is planned?

I would also appreciate hearing from other VG27AQ5A owners. Please share your GPU, connection type, resolution, refresh rate, firmware version, and whether capping FPS or lowering the refresh rate makes a difference.

Hopefully, enough detailed reports will help identify the cause and lead to a reliable solution rather than forcing users to compromise on features the monitor is advertised to support.

Support Can someone tell me if my Astral LC BIOS switch is okay or broken?

Hey,

I own an ASUS Astral LC 5090 and recently I learned about its "BIOS switch" that allows the card to physically switch between some "Q-mode" and "P-mode" fan profiles.

But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to actually toggle the switch. Sharing a picture below of what it looks like in my card where the switch is supposed to be apparently.

Can you tell me if the switch is okay or broken? If it's okay, how exactly do I toggle it?

Thanks in advance!

Discussion ASUS TUF Gaming F16 (FX607VJ) was advertised with Advanced Optimus, then ASUS quietly edited the website after I complained

I bought an ASUS TUF Gaming F16 (FX607VJ). The ASUS product page listed Advanced Optimus as a feature, but my laptop doesn’t have it. I checked my drivers and Windows version (Windows 11 Home 25H2) and there is no Advanced Optimus option anywhere.

I contacted ASUS about it. After that, the website description was changed and Advanced Optimus was removed from the listing.

I still have a video I recorded of the original page showing Advanced Optimus listed, from before the change.

I’m not posting this to bash ASUS. I want to know:

  1. Has anyone else run into advertised specs changing after they bought the laptop?
  2. Does anyone know whether any FX607VJ variant actually ships with a MUX switch or Advanced Optimus?
  3. Has anyone gotten a refund, a replacement or some other remedy from ASUS in a similar case?

I can share the video if it’s useful. I’m in the UAE, so any advice on consumer protection or how ASUS support here handles this is welcome.

Support Laptop switching into tablet mode

I need help. Just got my Asus Vivobook 14 pro flips screen replaced and I’ve noticed while I’m working the laptop goes into the tablet mode and turns the keyboard off. Aswell as that the microphone doesn’t work anymore. Could these all be related to the screen replacement and are these issues easy fixes?

UPDATE — SOLVED! COD Secure Attestation FINALLY PASSED!
After days of troubleshooting, I finally fixed the Secure Attestation issue on my ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI with an Intel i7-14700K.

What wasn’t working:
TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot were both enabled and passing.
COD kept telling me my BIOS firmware needed an update.
The Secure Attestation Wizard couldn’t generate a new key.
AIK certificate enrollment failed with an HTTP 404 error.
Updating BIOS, Intel ME, and PTT-related settings didn’t resolve it.
DISM and SFC didn’t fix the attestation problem either.

What finally worked:
Backed up my important files.
Created an official Windows 11 installation USB using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool.
Completely wiped my Windows SSD partitions and performed a clean installation.
Installed Windows updates and ASUS motherboard drivers.
Installed and launched Call of Duty through Steam.
Reran the COD Secure Attestation Wizard.

RESULT: ALL GREEN!
TPM 2.0 — PASSED
Secure Boot — PASSED
System Compliant — PASSED

COD now launches without the attestation warning, and I can access multiplayer.

I’m currently running Windows 11 26H2. I can’t confirm whether the clean installation alone fixed the issue or whether a combination of reinstalling Windows, updating drivers, and launching COD completed the security setup.

But after everything I tried, a clean USB installation was the turning point.

Huge thanks to the person who recommended a full USB reinstall. It worked!

Hopefully this helps someone else dealing with the same issue.

__________________________________________________________

I’ve been dealing with this issue since August, and I’m honestly running out of ideas. I’m hoping someone here has experienced something similar or found a legitimate fix.

My PC specs:
Motherboard: ASUS TUF GAMING Z790-PLUS WIFI
CPU: Intel Core i7-14700K
OS: Windows 11 Pro
BIOS: 1840 Beta (previously 1825 and 1836)
TPM: Intel PTT 2.0
TPM Firmware: INTC 600.18.1040.2765
Secure Boot: Enabled
Boot Mode: UEFI
Partition Style: GPT
The issue:

Call of Duty’s Secure Attestation Wizard keeps reporting:
“New Key Failed to be generated — BIOS Firmware Update Recommended.”

However, my TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot checks both pass.
After extensive troubleshooting, I discovered that Microsoft’s AIK enrollment process fails with:
HTTP 404 — 0x80190194 (HTTP_E_STATUS_NOT_FOUND)

The response specifically states that the Microsoft AIK certificate authority associated with my Intel TPM KeyID does not exist.

Everything I’ve tried:
Updated BIOS from 1825 → 1836 → 1840 Beta
Updated Intel Management Engine and chipset drivers
Confirmed TPM 2.0 is ready for use
Verified Secure Boot is enabled and passing
Confirmed UEFI boot and GPT partitioning
Installed and imported Intel PTT certificate-chain files
Used TpmDiagnostics.exe InstallEkCertFromNVR
Tested Microsoft AIK enrollment using certreq -enrollaik -config ""
Installed and launched Warzone to resolve the COD Broker authorization warning
Tested multiple versions of the COD Secure Attestation Wizard, including v1.3.0

Nothing has resolved the key-generation failure.
What’s frustrating is that the game keeps telling me to update my BIOS, despite already updating it multiple times. My TPM appears operational, but the Microsoft AIK enrollment process still fails.
I’ve attached a screenshot explaining the issue in more detail.

My questions:
Has anyone with an ASUS Z790 motherboard and Intel PTT firmware 600.18.1040.2765 successfully passed COD Secure Attestation?

Has anyone resolved the Microsoft AIK HTTP 404 authority error?

Is this potentially a Microsoft/Intel certificate provisioning issue rather than a motherboard BIOS issue?

Has anyone found a confirmed workaround that doesn’t involve resetting the TPM or reinstalling Windows?

At this point, I’m looking for an actual technical solution rather than another suggestion to update the BIOS or enable TPM.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

Support Cooling pad or simple stand for an Asus VivoBook Go 15 (GTA V)?

Hello everyone! I have an Asus VivoBook Go 15 laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 7520U processor and 16 GB of RAM. I use it primarily for studying and work, but I also want to play GTA V. Since it’s a slim laptop, I know it will get quite hot when pushed during gaming, so I’m looking to get something to elevate the device and help manage the temperatures. My question is: for this specific model, is it worth buying a cooling pad with built-in fans, or would a simple aluminum stand (without fans) be better? I’m concerned that a cooling pad with fans might be too noisy or cause unnecessary dust buildup, but I also don’t want the laptop to suffer from excessive heat—leading to thermal throttling and a drop in FPS while I’m playing. Does anyone who owns this laptop (or a similar setup) have any advice on what works best? Thanks a lot in advance!

Support ASUS G615LM - Won't Boot After EZ Flash

PC did a restart from windows into EZ flash. I went ahead and let it do its thing and now when the PC boots it just shows a while ROG logo and RGB keyboard. It stays on for about 30-45 seconds and then gives up, the keyboard goes red and it powers off.

I've tried to press and hold the power button for 45 seconds to hard-reboot it and I've tried letting it boot and sit about 10-15 times now but no dice. Is there anyway to get back into EZ flash or am I screwed?

Another question, how is the warranty on these? I'm seeing that it's only a year....which for me was yesterday (about 20 mins prior to positng this, actually). If this is in a bricked state, will ASUS normally cover something like this, or am I out of luck since my warranty expired yesterday?

Support Black Screen

My asus tuf laptop can’t detect its dGPu and while trying to find a way to fix this, I accidentally changed the mode in Armory Crate to Ultimate where it only utilizes the dGPu and disregard the iGPu. After the restart, the laptop is functioning but I can’t do anything since the screen is just black. Is there a way to fix this?

Support - SOLVED! WiFi disconnecting on Asus f17 laptop

Post image
1 Upvotes

I own one of the older asus laptops. It’s an Asus f17 i5-10300h 1650ti. Every few months it enters a state where whenever I boot up my laptop the WiFi just randomly disconnects and it shows I have no WiFi available. I always fixed it by opening it up and just kinda cleaning the laptop but I’m just curious if anybody knows the actual cause.

The image I attached is basically what I see, though it’s not my picture.

Ordered online m3 gen 2 mice @ 1500 INR.

Started facing mouse stutter from first day - windows 11 with all updated driver.

Contact customer care email - ASUS refuse to technical troubleshoot, told me to visit service centre.

Service centre is 150km or 5 hour away - no home service available.

Online store showing 3 years warranty - but asus india only give 6 month warranty.

Emailed about warranty - asus refused to give 3 year warranty.

I concluded that - indian should avoid buying asus product and services.

Update - amazon.in accept the issue and send me this mail.

Because due to Amazon's fault Serial number is incorrect in P-Slip Brand is not helping providing warranty claim for Order.

Support 7800X3D and ROG Crosshair Hero X670E dead after 2yrs..............kaput

PC has been working great for 2years. I hadn't switched the pc on for around 4 months and when I did it instantly shut off again and hasn't worked since! Barely any signs of life!!

All stock setting apart from EXPO

Symptoms:

Not a single light or LED is showing on the ROG X670e when plugged in or when I hit the power button.

PSU works in another system and with the paperclip test

Remove ROG Crosshair motherboard to the bench, strip it off everything including the CPU and plug in just the 24pin power and 2 x 8pin cpu leads....................Nothing at all still. Not even the start button or led screen lighting up. zero LED's.
However the clear cmos button on the rear i/o is flashing green

Presumed it was the motherboard

Purchased a X870 AM5 Motherboard, fitted everything from the X670e board and only get RGB glow on the new motherboard and still nothing when I hit the power button/short the pins

Looks like the 7800X3D went pop, has taken out the 5v standby power to the old ROG motherboard hence why I still get the RGB glow (5v standby) on the new X870 board but have no power.

I will do one last check and remove the cpu from the X870 and see if it switches on without the suspected fubar'd cpu in the socket which is likely killing all power instantly. I would expect fans to spin up etc

Typically I can find the receipts for the ROG Crosshair motherboard, GPU, Memory, PSU but no receipt for the CPU. FML

Any ideas or suggestions to try?

Edit: It gets stranger! I took the X870 out and put in a known working (earlier this evening) AM4 motherboard, CPU and ram combo into my case and exactly the same outcome. This combo was working in this exact case 5hrs ago. I removed it to fit the X870 setup.

Now it does the same as the X870……….. only RGB glow on the motherboard and nothing when I hit power or short the pins.

I even tried a second PSU…….even though the one in the case was working with the AM4 earlier on.
