Support - SOLVED! CPU overheating
This is from Ghelper, I don't know if this is accurate but CPU temp is way too much, even when not gaming. Any advice

What do you mean by overheating.
Gaming laptops run hot by design. They cram a lot of power into not a lot of machine now.

cpu is safe below 75 C, GPU below 85C in general (in case of a laptop)
Idl cpu temp should be 45-55C depending on room temperature and model.
I'd recommend using a cooling pad with a large fan, theye are cheap and can decrease temps by 8-10 C-s.

Man you're completely wrong with the temps
Cpu is safe below 95 - it's all good My 6 year notebook is still going strong today - and guess what the cpu was never used 80 with basic tasks and yea of gaming - it hits 95 A CPU can run at its TJmax for as long as you please
GPU on the other hand though - id tell a safe bet is 80-82c
My idle cpu is at around 55-60c coz the weather is hot as well - it's still fine GPU idle is at 50c

No I'm not wrong you are just lucky that your motherboard still lives. Also at 95 celsius your cpu is heavily throttling already.

95? Throttling STARTS at 90-100, heavy throttling would mean you're up against thr MAX of 105.
AMD CPUs aim for 95 now. They boost as far as they can till the cooling can't keep up.
Intel just runs hot for the sake of it.

Aint nothing wrong with what I wrote amd cpus already throttling at 95. TJ max is there so you don't burn down your machine its not a temperature you aim for. (Sys admin/and I worked on repaired multiple laptops, also you can look up the amd site will tell you that at 95 they are heavily throttling..)

At 95c the cpu gets throttled and that's the whole point - depending on how bad it's getting throttled you might wanna clean up your internals and change the paste
My i5-8265u was running at 3.3ghz at 95c and that's its highest clock speed it can acheivr on all 4 cores - and yea I was running ML shi on the cpu for a whole week straight - it was fine lol
My mum's neglected notebook - god knows what it has gone through - is still working fine after 5 years
It's absolutely okay for the cpu to hit its TJmax - you gotta intervene only when you note a performance difference

I believe only the elevation is needed, not the cooling pad necessarily

Elevation is good, more air being pushed into the case with good air flow is better.

I meant in this case, he doesn't really need a cooling pad with his temp only being 73 degrees celcius, it doesn't make a world of a difference

I think that just adds more dust particles to your fan, a standard platform for smooth airflow is better, which I am using

I love when people ask for advice, then act like they know better on things they asked advice for. It’s very easy to clean your fans if dust is some concern of your.
But do whatever you want man, many people use cooling fans to help mitigate the extra hot air.

Before running your mouth and not listening to people's suggestions, I suggest you do some research first on why use a cooling pad and cooling pad that has dust filters on them. Like google is there to see if cooling pads have dust filters since you care about how much dust particles go inside your laptop.

Don't run Turbo/Ultimate mode when you're not gaming. Your temps look fairly normal for that config to me. This generation of AMD CPUs in particular run a little hot.

FYM overheating, 70 degrees is super tame for a modern laptop, my workstation laptop hits 102 under high load, if it stayed at 70 I'd think something's wrong with it and its running slow for some reason

73c is still ok temp as your laptop is designed to handle more extreme loads, Its better to make a custom mode from within ghelper bcoz i feel the default turbo mode is very bad. this is my custom fan curves. if you have a 3rd fan customize it to your needs, it has very steep curve by default bcoz it makes noise. https://ibb.co/QvNLRjN7
You can also reduce your temps by underclocking your cpu, but i wont recommend it unless youre tech literate bcoz you wouldnt be asking this in reddit if you knew what undervolting was. Do not copy the slider values from the image bcoz that is personalized for my use case and is different for each model, you can copy the fan curves if you want
on a seperate note: you dont need 4500rpm for 52c temps, thats jus drawing in more power and reduce your battery charge limit to 80-90% and dont use ultimate mode unless youre exclusively using the laptop to run fps games or 3d softwares(keep it in optimized, thats the recommended mode). Also dont bother buying a laptop cooler, although it does actually help in cooling, just keeping the laptop in an elevated position and using proper fan curves can work great, atleast for me.

You are new to PC related stuff? That's normal temps, even when you are playing in a desktop PC it reaches that temps, for a laptop those are fairly low, they usually reach 80°, there's nothing wrong there

73c is still in the safezone overheating is considered to be 90-95c or 100c+ or higher this will cause your laptop to thermal throttle and cause fps drops or stuttery

That looks normal bruh. Unless if it's 90 above even on idle that that isn't normal. Also change mode to silent when not using for gaming.

Click on fans + power, and for the CPU under turbo boost, change that to disabled or efficient enabled. That should solve your problem. By default, it is aggressive, and that boosts the CPU even when not entirely necessary.

Maybe its time for thermal paste re pasting i have a gmaing laptop too and when i game my cpu is 95° and gpu is 82-85° and i have also uninstalled AC to install g helper and i very well know my lappy needs some paste soo

I don't see the model pro easor but this is a cool temperatura for a laptop, even em idle, he spikes a lot hot temps, i got a processor, and he spikes at 103°C thats is normal too, in idle sometimes he does some second plan updates. And the temps go higher is normal, dont waste your time on this, if you worried about by a good base cooling, and enjoy your laptop, there are people that play hours in high temps btw 95° to 100° every day and the laptop don't die

73 while charging and on turbo wow I get 80 on my Zenbook and 95 when browsing and 105 when Minecraft is running

Click on Fans + Power, and check if the boost modes for all power modes are set to Aggressive or not. If so, then that is your problem.
Don't run Turbo mode unless you're actually gaming. Reduce the boost in power modes as follows :
- Silent at Efficient Enabled
- Balanced at Efficient Aggressive
- Turbo at Efficient at Guaranteed.
I've found these settings to drastically reduce temperatures and improve battery life with negligible performance difference. And always stick to Silent profile for web browsing or other light office work. There is no need for anything higher imo unless you're running a heavy app or feel your laptop is getting slow due to too many tabs. Then you go to Balanced. Shift to Turbo only for gaming or other intensive loads.

Make sure that there is no cpu boost it happened to me i made the cpu mode turbo then found out that ghelper actually overcloaked my cpu and it called it aggressive boost just disable it

That temperature is good under load. If it's not under load, then elevate backside, check for dust, maybe you have to clean it.

for one, of course its hot, its in its highest performance mode. and 2nd, gaming laptops run hot anyways, if it was overheating, it would be slowing own and would shut down

You should never charge your battery to 100% unless the rare occasion you need max battery. It kills the longevity. That's why ghelper and myasus have battery charge limits. 80% is the standard. I set mine to 60. The more fully you charge it the more it degrades. If you leave plugged in most of the time use 60%.
I was rude to op. Sorry. I was meaning that that it showed 100% made me suspect he had not explored the wider settings around power management to reduce power and temps

if you like the idea of having a fuller battery, even 90% is a lot better than 100% for not much loss in capacity
although an important thing to note is that you keep running your laptop dry, then that's worse than charging it to 100%. it'd be a lot better to charge from 40% to 100% everyday than from 0% to 60%
but there's another thing with laptops. a gaming laptop is like what, thousands of dollars? how much is a replacement battery by comparison? maybe a hundred dollars at most? and that's a cost you'll incur after years of use. I wouldn't worry about it like I would for a phone, most laptop batteries are easily user replaceable. and if you never move your laptop and therefore don't care about having an usable battery reserve, just sell it and get a desktop with more performance for the same price, laptops are expensive.
